Best Place to Watch Disney World’s New Drone Show “Dreams That Soar”

Dreams That Soar is Disney World’s new drone show happening at Disney Springs. Viewing areas for the show fill up fast. Here's how to find the best places to watch the drone show plus a few of my best tips - including what not to do!

The drone show itself is amazing. Everyone around me was blown away. Dreams That Soar far exceeds expectations in a way that can only be done at Walt Disney World.

The drones create a well-known scene from the Disney film, “Up.”

The drone show takes place along the waterfront on the West Side of Disney Springs.

Disney has set up a viewing area on the walkway that runs from the Aerophile Balloon down to the House of Blues.

The Star Wars segment of the show received a big cheer from the audience. See the show now on my YouTube Channel (link below).

Not many people know there’s a walkway there and without signs, it can be hard to find. Fortunately, Disney has signs directing guests to the viewing area.

There are two entrances to the viewing area, one at House of Blues and one at Aerophile. I don’t think it matters which side you enter from.

Arrive Early

We arrived 120 minutes before the 9 pm show and there was already a medium size crowd formed on both ends. We had no trouble getting a spot along the railing but the viewing area filled up within minutes.

The show takes place in the sky so even if you’re not up against the railing, you’ll still have a great view. I wanted to film a show (see below to watch on my YouTube Channel) so I didn’t want anyone in front of me.

Anywhere along the walkway is a great place to watch the Dreams That Soar drones.

I observed some guests reserving seats at Starbucks Westside, which is right on the walkway. However, there are quite a few trees there that will block your view of the sky, which is where the show takes place, of course.

I saw others watching from the roof of the Coke Store at Disney Spring. The issue here is that it will be a distant view and you won’t have the music that goes along with the show.

How to get to Disney Springs to watch Dreams That Soar

If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World hotel the best way to get to Disney Springs is by using Disney Transportation (See my video on how to use Disney World transportation.)

If you’re staying off-property, I would use Uber or Lyft.

See my guide to using Uber and Lyft at Walt Disney World

We drove to Disney Springs because we live a few minutes away. And while we had no trouble parking in the garage, it was a disaster trying to leave after the show!

Disney Springs is not set up for a mass exit like the theme parks.

Immediately after the show, thousands of people headed for their cars which created a logjam in the parking garages and on Lake Buena Vista Blvd.

We had parked on the third floor of the Orange garage and sat for over 60 minutes. Didn’t move. No exaggeration. I actually edited my video for YouTube while we were sitting there.

Disney Springs gets very crowded on weekends in particular, the parking garages often reach capacity around 6 or 7 pm.

If you’re going to see Dreams That Soar, I do not recommend parking at Disney Springs.

After Dreams That Soar, it was difficult to leave Disney Springs by car.

Is Dreams That Soar worth it?

The show is worth the effort of getting there early and dealing with the crowds! This is a very unique show, the original music is well done, and the drone performance is done in a way that will leave you saying, “Only Disney could do that!”

Let’s not forget Dreams That Soar is free! How often can you say that at Disney World?
