Disney Treasure Rescues People from Sinking Boat
Disney Cruise Line’s newest cruise ship, Disney Treasure, rescued four people from a sinking boat near Bermuda.
On Sunday around 8:30 a.m., the U.S. Coast Guard said they received a call from a 50-foot catamaran, the Serenity, located 265 miles off the coast of Bermuda.
According to reports, the boat had become disabled due to a gasket failure in the escape hatch before taking on water.
The boat requested assistance, and the Coast Guard issued a broadcast.
The brand new Disney Treasure was on its first transatlantic sailing from Eemshaven, Netherlands, to its new home in Port Canaveral, Florida, when crew members received the call.
The Disney Treasure was the closest ship to the distress call, which was 80 miles away.
