Tunnel at Disney’s Riviera Resort Features 2 Spectacular Mosaic Murals
If you noticed the connection to flight in both murals, you have a keen sense of storytelling. Both of the mosaics – Rapunzel’s floating lantern scene and Peter Pan soaring over the London sky – celebrate flight.
So it’s no coincidence that this tunnel walkway leads to the Disney Skyliner station at Disney’s Riviera Resort, where you can step aboard and glide across the sky by aerial gondola to destinations across Walt Disney World Resort.

More than 1 million hand-cut tiles were laid by hand to create this stunning work of art that rises 20 feet in the air and is joined at the ceiling by a shared mosaic sky. These are just some of the intricate and thoughtful details you’ll notice throughout Disney’s Riviera Resort.
The Meaning Behind the RR Logo at Disney’s Riviera Resort
Signature elements are coming into place at Disney’s Riviera Resort, the newest Walt Disney World Resort hotel and Disney Vacation Club property, under construction now and projected to open Dec. 16, 2019.
Today, I’m sharing a look at the Disney’s Riviera Resort double “RR” monogram sign being raised into place, eight stories high and front and center at the resort’s tower.
When Guests approach the resort, the signature double “RR” monogram will appear to rise into view like a welcoming beacon, giving a first glimpse of the elegance that awaits within. Like the grand European resorts along the Riviera, Disney’s Riviera Resort’s signature monogram will be especially dazzling in the evening hours thanks to its dramatic lighting with 470 light bulbs illuminating the sign.
The iconic “RR” monogram sign will sit above the resort’s eighth story tower which will be home to Walt Disney World’s newest accommodation type, the Tower Studios. Located in this tower, these upscale accommodations are designed for two. Each Tower Studio will maximize efficiency within a space that exudes refined luxury.
