The 3-2-1 Rule at Disney: Your Simple Framework for a Magical Day
The 3-2-1 Rule is the key to enjoying Walt Disney World without overwhelm. Learn how planning just 3 rides, 2 experiences, and 1 meal can transform your entire park day.
Introduction
Planning a trip to Walt Disney World (or any major Disney resort) can feel overwhelming. With dozens of attractions, dining options, shows, and experiences, it’s easy to burn out or leave the park feeling more frazzled than thrilled. That’s where the 3-2-1 Rule comes in: a simple, easy-to-remember strategy to focus your day, reduce decision-fatigue, and prioritize what really matters.
By deciding ahead of time to visit 3 rides, 2 experiences, and plan for 1 solid meal, you’ll give yourself structure while leaving plenty of room for spontaneity, rest, and pure magic. Below, you’ll find how the rule works, why it matters, how to apply it, and bonus tips to refine it for your family or group.
What is the 3-2-1 Rule?
The 3-2-1 Rule is a guideline designed to streamline your Disney park day into three main pieces:
3 rides: Choose three key attractions you want to experience.
2 experiences: Pick two non-ride moments — these might be shows, character meet-and-greets, parades, or simply magical moments like resting in a shaded area.
1 meal: Commit in advance to one sit-down or scheduled meal, giving you a moment to recharge, relax, and regroup.
This trifecta gives you a realistic target, frees you from trying to “do it all,” and helps you focus on what your group will genuinely remember. According to travel bloggers, the 3-2-1 Rule is especially helpful when visiting Disney with kids or when you want to avoid “burning out” by mid-afternoon.
Why Use the 3-2-1 Rule?
Minimizes Overwhelming feelings in the parks
At a park like Walt Disney World, you’re bombarded with hundreds of options. Without a framework, you might find yourself chasing ride after ride, snack after snack, seeking “everything,” only to feel exhausted and unsatisfied. The 3-2-1 Rule gives clarity: pick three rides, two experiences, one meal. That’s it.
Encourages Quality Over Quantity
Rather than riding every attraction possible, you’ll choose the ones that matter most. You’ll savor the experiences instead of racing through them.
Builds in Rest and Flexibility
With only three rides and two experiences, you naturally build gaps for rest, snack breaks, people-watching, or even a resort return if you’re staying on-property. The “one meal” gives you a scheduled anchor—a forced pause to regroup.
Ideal for Families & All Ages
The rule is especially effective for younger children, multigenerational groups, or first-time visitors who want to minimize stress while maximizing enjoyment.
How to Implement the 3-2-1 Rule: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Choose Your Three Rides
Think ahead: what are the “must-do” attractions for your group? Consider height requirements, comfort levels, wait times, and thrill preference.
List more than three if you like, but commit to tackling three.
Prioritize early morning or rope-drop slots if possible (to maximize lower wait times).
Example: At Magic Kingdom you might pick Peter Pan’s Flight, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion.
Step 2: Decide Your Two Experiences
These aren’t rides — these are moments of magic, connection, or rest. They could include:
A parade or fireworks show.
A character meet-and-greet.
A scenic ride (e.g., the monorail or boat).
A relaxing shaded spot with snacks.
Example: “Meet Mickey at Town Square” and “Watch the Enchantment fireworks”.
Step 3: Book or Plan One Meal
Pick one go-to dining moment. This can be a table-service reservation or a mobile-order spot you’re comfortable committing to. This meal becomes your mid-day anchor.
It gives your body and mind a rest.
It gives your group something to look forward to.
It lowers the pressure to squeeze in multiple full meals or constantly chase snacks.
Example: Lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant or dinner at California Grill.
Step 4: Build in “White Space”
With the 3-2-1 structure, you’ll naturally have extra blocks of time. Use these for:
Snack stops, drinks, or shade breaks.
Photo ops and spontaneous joy.
Resort return or afternoon quiet time (especially helpful for younger kids or midday fatigue).
A second ride if time allows (bonus!).
Step 5: Be Flexible, Stay Present
The rule gives a framework — not a rigid itinerary. If you finish earlier than expected, you might do one more ride, or explore a new snack. If something goes off-plan (ride breakdown, weather delay), you still feel successful because you achieved the three-two-one target.
Customizing the 3-2-1 Rule for Your Travel Style
For Families With Young Kids
Pick rides with low or no height requirements for your “3 rides”.
Make one of the “2 experiences” something restful or slow-paced (like a character breakfast or a calm show).
Meal: consider an early lunch to beat crowds and avoid meltdowns.
For Thrill-Seekers or Adults Only
Choose your three biggest-thrill rides first (e.g., “Tower of Terror”, “Space Mountain”, “Expedition Everest”).
Two experiences: maybe a cocktail lounge or fireworks dessert party + immersive ride queue like “Rise of the Resistance”.
Meal: pick a fine-dining venue or signature restaurant for a fun treat.
For Long Stays or Multi-Park Days
Use 3-2-1 per park, or adjust: maybe 5-3-2 if you’re doing multiple parks in one day and want a heavier list.
But the core idea remains: designate a fixed set of rides, experiences, meal(s) and leave the rest open.
For Repeat Visitors
You might expand the “3 rides” to include hidden gems or lesser-known attractions you missed previously.
Use the “2 experiences” to try new entertainment or seasonal offerings (festivals, special shows).
You might still keep to one scheduled meal but add roam-and-snack freedom.
Sample Daily Timeline Using the 3-2-1 Rule
Here’s how a typical day might play out using the rule:
9:00 a.m. Park opens – First ride selected (Ride #1)
10:00 a.m. Ride #2
11:00 a.m. Experience #1 (e.g., character meet)
12:00 p.m. Sit down for your one planned meal
1:30 p.m. Ride #3
2:30 p.m. Experience #2 (e.g., parade, shaded snack break, photo op)
3:30 p.m. Free time: additional attraction if you like, resort return, shopping, snacks
Evening Relaxed pace, maybe one bonus ride or fireworks show, and you leave feeling accomplished rather than exhausted.
Common Questions & Clarifications
Do I have to stick to exactly 3 rides, 2 experiences, and 1 meal?
No. The rule is a guideline, not a rigid mandate. You can flex it to suit your group’s pace and preferences. The power comes from choosing ahead of time and committing to that set.
What if my group wants more than 3 rides?
Great! Use the three as your “core” rides and treat others as bonus. That way you guarantee three meaningful experiences without chasing everything.
Is the one meal strictly table service?
Not necessarily. It can translate into one planned meal moment whether it’s table-service, mobile order, or a great counter service you’re comfortable committing to. The key is planning ahead and not leaving it entirely to chance.
Does this apply to all parks at Disney resorts?
Yes! Whether you’re visiting Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Disney’s Animal Kingdom (or their equivalents at other Disney locations), the 3-2-1 Rule can help shape your day. This neat trick works everywhere on the globe at other parks such as Tokyo Disney Sea, Disneyland Paris, Disneyland in California and more.
Final Thoughts
At the end of your Disney day, what will you remember? Most guests don’t recall every ride they did—they remember how they felt: excited, relaxed, joyful, connected with family. The 3-2-1 Rule helps you focus on experience, not just checklists.
By choosing three rides, two experiences, and one meal in advance, you reduce the noise, prioritize what matters, and give yourself permission to slow down and soak it all in. Whether you’re traveling with toddlers, teens, adults only, or a multigenerational group, this simple framework keeps the day manageable, flexible, and truly magical.
So next time you’re headed to Walt Disney World, make the choice: ride 3, experience 2, dine 1, and let the rest fall into place. You might just find you enjoy the park more by doing less. These tips will make you seem like a pro!

The Best Orlando Vacations You Can Take for $5,000
Can you take a premium Orlando vacation for under $5,000? I compared real 2025 prices for Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Royal Caribbean, and Disney Cruise Line to see which offers families the most magic for their money.
Which Vacation wins?
If you’ve ever tried to plan an Orlando vacation lately, you know the sticker shock is real. Between theme park tickets, hotel rates, and food costs, that “family trip of a lifetime” can quickly feel like a luxury purchase. So I wanted to find out — can you still have a premium Orlando vacation for around $5,000?
To answer that, I did the research myself and compared four very different ways to spend a family vacation in Central Florida: Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Royal Caribbean, and Disney Cruise Line. Each one came in right around $5,000, but the experiences couldn’t be more different.
🎥 Watch the full video here: The Best Orlando Vacations You Can Take for $5,000
What a $5,000 Orlando vacation looks like.
Disney Cruise Line: The Disney Wish
Let’s start at sea. I priced out a 3-night sailing aboard the Disney Wish leaving July 3 from Port Canaveral, visiting Nassau and Castaway Cay. This was for a family of four in an interior room on Deck 2 midship, totaling $5,032.32.
And yes — that’s over $5,000 for just three nights. But before you scroll away, remember that Disney Cruises are nearly all-inclusive. You’re getting top-notch entertainment, themed dining, Broadway-style shows, and private island access at Castaway Cay. For families who want Disney-level service and character experiences without tackling the parks, this is a compact, premium option.
If you want a longer cruise, I also checked a 4-night version of this same itinerary sailing July 6, which came out to $7,017, and a 7-night Disney Treasure sailing starting July 4, totaling $10,287. Clearly, the three-night cruise fits that $5,000 budget best — but you’ll have to decide if that short trip is worth the cost.
Universal Orlando Resort: Stella Nova, Cabana Bay, or Royal Pacific
Next, I compared Universal Orlando, where the newest park, Epic Universe, is set to change the game in 2025.
For this comparison, I looked at a 6-night stay from July 5–11 at the brand-new Stella Nova Resort, which is Universal’s newest Prime Value hotel. It came out to $4,882.53 including 5-day Park-to-Park tickets for the whole family.
Universal’s Royal Pacific Resort comes with Free Express Passes to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.
Stella Nova is located just minutes from Epic Universe and connected by a dedicated busway that makes getting around incredibly easy. You can hop from your room to the parks in minutes without ever driving or dealing with parking.
If you want to upgrade, Cabana Bay Beach Resort gives you access to its retro-themed pools and lazy river, while Royal Pacific Resort — a Premier hotel — includes Express Passes for every guest, letting you skip most lines.
Universal gives you a mix of flexibility and thrills, with enough options to fit a family’s comfort level and still stay close to the new park everyone’s talking about.
Royal Caribbean: Utopia of the Seas
Now let’s talk cruising — but this time with Royal Caribbean. I compared a 4-night Utopia of the Seas sailing departing July 7 from Port Canaveral, visiting Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island. The total? $4,998 for an interior room for four guests.
Utopia of the Seas and her passengers spend the day at Nassau, Bahamas.
The thing that stands out with Royal Caribbean is just how much is included. You’ve got meals, shows, and entertainment all covered. The kids can hit the water slides or surf simulators while you relax at the adults-only pool or grab a cocktail on the Boardwalk.
Royal Caribbean delivers a floating resort experience that feels truly all-inclusive — and for the same price as a mid-level Orlando theme park trip, it’s hard to argue with the value.
If your family likes adventure and freedom rather than sticking to a schedule, this one’s tough to beat.
Walt Disney World: The Gold Standard
Finally, we’ve got the one and only Walt Disney World. I priced two realistic options for a 6-night stay from July 6–12 for a family of four.
A Mears bus arrives at Disney’s Beach Club Resort with passengers ready to start their Disney World vacation.
Option one: Pop Century Resort, one of Disney’s Value properties, came out to $4,986.10 with 6-day park tickets and the Quick Service Dining Plan included. Pop Century is perfect for families who want to be surrounded by Disney theming, easy Skyliner access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, and predictable pricing.
Option two: Coronado Springs Resort, a beautiful Moderate hotel with Spanish-inspired architecture, came out to $5,007.65 for the same dates and tickets. You’ll get upgraded dining, larger rooms, and a more relaxed resort vibe — but without losing access to all the perks, like Early Theme Park Entry and extended evening hours at select parks.
When you factor in the park experiences, transportation, dining, and resort atmosphere, Disney World ends up being the most complete and balanced vacation on the list. It’s the one destination that gives you full control over your budget and daily experience — whether you’re rope-dropping Magic Kingdom or just taking it slow by the pool.
So Which Vacation Wins?
All four options are amazing in their own way — it just depends on what kind of family you are.
If you love characters, storytelling, and all-inclusive comfort, Disney Cruise Line is unmatched.
If you’re all about thrills and new attractions, Universal Orlando and Epic Universe will be irresistible.
If you want everything wrapped into one floating resort, Royal Caribbean gives you the most bang for your buck.
And if you want that iconic Orlando experience, Walt Disney World still reigns supreme — especially with the dining plan returning.
So yes — a $5,000 premium Orlando vacation is absolutely possible. You just have to pick your flavor of magic.

When DINOSAUR Will Close - Disney’s Animal Kingdom
DINOSAUR is the final attractions that needs to close at DinoLand U.S.A.The new land will feature two signature attractions centered around Indiana Jones and Encanto.
The classic DINOSAUR ride at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom, which first opened in 1998, will permanently close on February 2, 2026 to make way for Tropical Americas.
This marks the final attraction closure at DinoLand U.S.A., paving the way for an exciting new chapter.
The future of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
I’m especially intrigued by the new land, which will feature two signature attractions centered around Indiana Jones and Encanto. Construction is already underway on Tropical Americas, with an anticipated opening in 2027.
Disney has shared that the new Indiana Jones experience will be unlike any other around the world.
The story involves Indiana Jones discovering a perfectly preserved Maya temple—strictly for exploration purposes, of course.
Rumors about a mythical creature lurking deep within the temple add to the mystery, and we’re invited to join Indy on this adventure.
As for snakes? That’s something we’ll have to wait and see.
The Encanto-themed ride will be Disney’s very first based on the hit film.
It will immerse guests in the magical world of the Madrigal family. Inside Antonio’s Casita, where he has just received his special gift—the ability to communicate with animals—his room transforms into a lush rainforest.
We’ll get to explore alongside Antonio and maybe encounter other family members as well.
All in all, while saying goodbye to DINOSAUR is bittersweet, the future with Tropical Americas looks incredibly promising and full of new adventures.

Walt Disney World Single Rider Lines: The Complete 2025 Guide
A complete 2025 guide to Walt Disney World Single Rider lines. Find out which rides offer them, how they work, and how to use them to cut wait times at Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios.
Waiting in long lines is part of the Disney World experience, but savvy visitors know there are ways to cut down on wait times without paying extra. One of the most underrated strategies is using Single Rider lines. These special queues allow Disney to maximize ride capacity while giving solo guests (or groups willing to split up) a faster way to board. If you don’t mind riding separately, Single Rider lines can save you hours across your Disney day.
In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore which rides offer Single Rider options, how they work, the pros and cons, guest tips, and strategies for getting the most out of them. By the end, you’ll be able to plan a smart Disney itinerary that balances time savings with magical experiences. Let’s dive in.
What Are Single Rider Lines?
Single Rider lines are a system Disney uses to fill empty seats left on attractions. For example, if a coaster has four seats per row and a group of three boards, one seat goes empty. That’s where a single rider steps in, filling the seat without slowing operations.
The biggest advantage is time savings. On many rides, the Single Rider wait can be a fraction of the standby time. If Test Track is listed at 90 minutes, the Single Rider line might be closer to 30. Expedition Everest might post 60 minutes while the Single Rider line is closer to 15.
The trade-off is separation. If you’re with friends or family, you won’t sit together. In addition, Single Rider queues often bypass themed standby lines and pre-shows. That means less immersion, but more efficiency.
Which Disney World Rides Have Single Rider Lines in 2025?
As of 2025, six rides across three Disney World parks regularly offer Single Rider lines.
Animal Kingdom
Expedition Everest
This thrilling roller coaster sends riders careening through the Himalayas on a runaway train that encounters broken tracks, backward drops, and a fearsome Yeti. Expedition Everest is one of the best-kept Single Rider secrets in Disney World. The line here moves fast, making it easy to re-ride multiple times in a day. The only downside is that the Single Rider path skips the museum-style queue filled with artifacts, climbing gear, and cultural touches.
EPCOT
Test Track
One of EPCOT’s most popular rides, Test Track combines design interactivity with a high-speed automotive test drive. Standby guests design their own cars, testing them for efficiency, responsiveness, and power before boarding. Single Rider skips the design studio, placing you directly in the boarding area. While you lose customization, you often save over an hour of waiting.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
This whimsical trackless ride shrinks guests to the size of a rat for a chase through Gusteau’s kitchen. Because of its popularity, Remy’s often sees long waits. Single Rider can be a lifesaver, though you miss some of the interactive queue.
Hollywood Studios
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
This indoor coaster launches guests from 0 to 57 mph in under three seconds. The Single Rider option can reduce your wait, but it’s not always as reliable as Everest or Test Track.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
This Star Wars attraction allows six guests to pilot the Millennium Falcon. Single Riders are almost always assigned the role of Engineer. If piloting is your dream, standby is better—but for a quick ride, Single Rider is perfect.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (variable availability)
Disney has tested a Single Rider option for Rise, though it’s not always open. When it is, you’ll save time but miss the elaborate pre-shows. Best for repeat riders.
Tips for Using Single Rider Lines
Check the app and tip boards: Look for the Single Rider icon in My Disney Experience.
Expect to miss pre-shows: Do standby once for the story, then Single Rider for repeats.
Prioritize value: Everest and Test Track are the best bets.
Combine tools: Use with Lightning Lane, rope drop, and smart planning.
Stay flexible: Lines can pause if fewer empty seats are available.
Guest Perspectives
“Everest’s single rider line is fantastic. We got on the same train 7 out of 8 times.”
“Smuggler’s Run Single Rider will almost always place you as an engineer, but it’s worth it for the quick turnaround.”
“Rise of the Resistance Single Rider cut my wait to 45 minutes instead of 60, but I missed the pre-shows.”
Ride-by-Ride Strategy Breakdown
Expedition Everest (Animal Kingdom)
Pros: Fast, easy to re-ride.
Cons: Misses detailed theming.
Best Use: Afternoon repeat rides.
Test Track (EPCOT)
Pros: Cuts wait times in half or more.
Cons: Miss science on the future of cars (doesn’t really matter)
Best Use: Afternoon/evening.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (EPCOT)
Pros: Good alternative to Lightning Lane.
Cons: Miss queue storytelling.
Best Use: When wait exceeds 60 minutes.
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster (Hollywood Studios)
Pros: Saves time during peak.
Cons: Inconsistent.
Best Use: If standby > 40 minutes.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Hollywood Studios)
Pros: Quick access.
Cons: Usually Engineer role.
Best Use: Repeat rides.
Rise of the Resistance (Hollywood Studios)
Pros: Shorter wait.
Cons: Miss immersive pre-shows.
Best Use: Repeat visits.
Summary Table
| Ride | Park | Benefit | Trade-Off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expedition Everest | Animal Kingdom | Fastest-moving queue | Miss themed queue museum |
| Test Track | EPCOT | Huge time-saver | Skip car design feature |
| Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure | EPCOT | Built with Single Rider in mind | Miss some theming |
| Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster | Hollywood Studios | Can save time during peak hours | Inconsistent; may be slower |
| Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run | Hollywood Studios | Quick access to cockpit experience | Usually assigned Engineer role |
| Rise of the Resistance | Hollywood Studios | Reduces wait times | Skips story-driven pre-shows |
How to Incorporate Single Rider into Your Disney World Plan
Animal Kingdom Strategy
Rope drop Avatar Flight of Passage.
Ride Kilimanjaro Safaris mid-morning.
Use Expedition Everest’s Single Rider line later in the day.
EPCOT Strategy
Rope drop Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
Use Lightning Lane for Frozen Ever After.
Save Test Track and Remy’s for Single Rider.
Hollywood Studios Strategy
Rope drop Slinky Dog Dash.
Book Lightning Lane for Tower of Terror.
Use Single Rider for Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster, Smugglers Run, and Rise (if available).
Extra Planning Considerations for 2025
Single Rider availability can change. Always check the My Disney Experience app the day of your visit.
It’s also smart to pair Single Rider with dining and show schedules. Plan rides during natural crowd diversions—while someone picks up a mobile order, while others browse shops, or right after parades, Fantasmic!, or EPCOT’s fireworks. If your group has a lunch reservation, one person can hop in a Single Rider queue and rejoin later. This keeps you out of peak surges and helps you fit more attractions into your day.
Solo travelers benefit the most, but families with teens who don’t mind splitting up can also take advantage.
Final Thoughts
Single Rider lines at Walt Disney World are one of the best-kept secrets for saving time without extra cost. They’re not ideal for every attraction, particularly story-driven experiences where the queue is part of the ride. But for thrill rides and repeat visits, they can be game-changing.
To make the most of them:
Use Expedition Everest and Test Track whenever possible.
Save standby for your first time on immersive attractions.
Take advantage of Smugglers Run for quick re-rides.
Use Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Single Rider only when standby is high.
Consider Rise of the Resistance Single Rider only as a repeat experience.
With smart planning, Single Rider can help you ride more, wait less, and enjoy the magic from a new perspective.

5 Reasons You'll Love Disney's Port Orleans Riverside
What Make Port Orleans Riverside one of the most popular Disney World hotels.
There are a few hotels at Walt Disney World that are so popular, they have a dedicated fan following. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one, Disney’s Beach Club Resort is another and of course Disney’s Port Orleans both Riverside and French Quarter.
So, why is Port Orleans Resort so popular? Here are the top 5 reasons my clients have shared with me about why they love staying here.
#5: IT’s TWO RESORTS IN ONE
Port Orleans Riverside is made up of 2 sections: “Alligator Bayou” and “Magnolia Bend.”
Alligator Bayou has a more rustic atmosphere with dense wooded areas and shaded walking paths.
Magnolia Bend buildings resemble large plantation homes with manicured gardens wide open spaces.
When booking your room reservation, you can enter a request to be in a particular section, but it is not possible to guarantee a room in Alligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend. Disney does try hard to honor requests, however.
Alligator Bayou section of Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside
Magnolia Bend section of Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside
#4: WATER WAY TO DISNEY SPRINGS
Port Orleans Riverside is located on the Sassagoula River, a 2.5 mile manmade canal that leads to Disney Springs - Disney’s shopping and dining district.
Fun Fact: the canal is modeled after the Mississippi River and “Sassagoula” is a Native-American term that means “Mississippi.”
River boats depart every 20 minutes from Port Orleans to Disney Springs.
Complimentary boat transportation to Disney Springs
#4 MODERATELY PRICED, Great value
Port Orleans Riverside is considered a “cross-over” resort from the Value Category hotels.
For example, the average nightly rate in December for a Little Mermaid room at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is $257. A Standard View room at Port Orleans Riverside is only $40 more.
The value is in the additional square footage, amenities like Bell Services, and a pool with a water slide.
Nightly room rates at Port Orleans Riverside start in the low $300s. Discounts are frequently available and when you book with me you will always get the best available rate with Price-Watch!
#3: FIVE-PERSON ROOMS
If you are a party of 5, I have great news! 5th Sleeper rooms at Port Orleans Riverside can sleep up to 5 guests.
These rooms have a fold-down bed that is ideal for children up to age 10.
“Standard” and “5th Sleeper” rooms at Port Orleans Riverside are about 315 square feet.
Rooms include a small table with 2 chairs, a single-cup coffee brewer, and a mini-fridge.
There is a split-bath where the vanity is separate from the tub and toilet. This allows multiple people to get ready at the same time.
Rooms at Riverside were recently refreshed and carpets were replaced with laminate flooring for a cleaner look.
#2 CENTRALLY LOCATED ON DISNEY PROPERTY
Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter are both centrally located on Disney World property. Both are located right behind Epcot and just down the road from Magic Kingdom.
Travel Time by Disney Bus from Disney’s Port Orleans Resort:
Magic Kingdom <10 Minutes
Epcot <10 Minutes
Hollywood Studios <10 minutes
Animal Kingdom 15 minutes
Take a ride between Port Orleans Riverside and Magic Kingdom!
#1 Kid-Friendly Pools
There are a total of 5 leisure pools at Port Orleans Riverside. The feature pool, complete with a 95 foot-long water slide is located on Ol’ Man Island, centrally located within the resort.
On Ol’ Man Island you’ll also find a whirlpool, the Muddy Rivers pool bar and a daily pool party for kids with a DJ and poolside games. Lifeguards are duty at the feature pool as well.
There are also smaller, neighborhood pools that are sometimes referred to as “quiet pools.” There are 2 in Alligator Bayou and 2 in Magnolia Bend. They do not have a DJ or games.
You can also participate in a nightly campfire event and a movie under the stars - only Disney movies of course.
The Feature Pool on Ol’ Man Island features a pool bar, whirlpool and a water slide.
In addition to the feature pool at Port Orleans Riverside, there are several smaller pools located around the resort.

Is Disney World’s Travel Protection Plan Worth it?
The Walt Disney World Travel Protection Plan helps protect you and your family for unexpected covered losses from the moment that you step out of your front door until the moment you safely arrive back home.
You’re very excited for your Disney World vacation and the big day has finally come. You arrive at the airport only to find out your flight is delayed. After several hours of waiting, the airline cancels the flight. Unfortunately this is all too common these days.
You’re in a difficult situation now because, according Disney’s terms and conditions, you cannot cancel your vacation inside of 24 hours to arrival.
The penalty? Forfeiture of the entire package price.
The good news is that Disney is not some little bed & breakfast who is going to stick it to you for cancelling last minute. Odds are you will be offered some type of solution.
But what happens if you don’t like the solution? It could be anything from a 50% credit if you rebook, or maybe a partial refund back on your credit card. It’s really up to Disney, all you can do is go along with it.
You will almost certainly be reminded that Disney Travel Protection was an option when you booked your vacation package.
If you purchased travel protection, this is easy. Just file a claim! As long as your claim is for a covered reason, you’ll get your money back.
You can then make new vacation plans without the headache of dealing with partial refunds and future credits, or worse, losing the entire package price.
The cost of Disney Travel Protection is well worth the peace of mind. And I always say, you can never have enough insurance.
Have questions about planning your Orlando vacation? I have answers. Contact me today to get the most out of your vacation.
How much is Disney Travel Protection?
Disney travel protection is $95.00 per adult, and children age 17 and under are free with a paying adult.
It helps protect you and your family for unexpected covered losses from the moment that you step out of your front door until the moment you safely arrive back home. This means your airfare is covered too.
Disney Travel Protection Plan can be purchased any time prior to final payment for your trip.

Will Older MagicBands Still Work When MagicBand+ is Released?
Yes! If you have a MagicBand from a previous trip to Walt Disney World, you will be able to use it even after the newer model has been released.
You’ll be able to use older MagicBands to enter the theme parks, pay for merchandise and dining, and for Disney PhotoPass.
Disney says there’s a tiny battery inside the MagicBand that is designed to last for two years.
Some of my clients have reported that MagicBands from several years ago still worked.
I have one from 2019 that I use on a regular basis and it works just fine.
It’s also important to make sure that any older MagicBands are listed as “active” in your My Disney Experience account.
In the My Disney Experience app, to My Profile > MagicBands & Cards to see a list of active and inactive bands.

What can we do with our luggage if we have a late departing flight?
How to store luggage at Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World
Your departure day at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando can still be a day in the parks, so book that later flight! Especially if your coming down for a long weekend.
On your departure day, you’ll need to check out of your hotel room by 11 am. Both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando hotels will gladly store your luggage for you.
Simply call Bell Services from your room and let them know you would like your bags stored.
Alternatively you can bring your bags down to the bell desk if you prefer not to wait for a bellhop to arrive at your room.
A gratuity of about $2 per bag is customary when dropping your bags off and when picking them up again.
If you have any items that need to be refrigerated, just let them know which bags need to be kept cold.
You can also store your luggage the at the theme parks. Visit the area where they rent strollers and scooters.
By the way, this also works on your arrival day. If you’re room is not ready by the time you arrive, just store your bags at the bell desk and start your vacation right away!

Disney World's 3rd Generation Magic Bands, Hey Disney! and Dining Plans Delayed
What happened to Hay Disney, the Disney Dining Plans, and 3rd Generation Magic Bands?
There are many great experiences returning to Walt Disney World Resort like being able to hug the characters again, daytime parades, and entertainment but there are still a number of projects that were promised in “early 2022” that we don’t talk about anymore.
3rd Generation Magic Bands
At the Destination D23 event in November, Josh D'Amaro, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products shared some new things we could look forward to in 2022 during a high-energy presentation, complete with characters and Cast Members joining him on stage. To anyone who was in the room, it was incredibly inspiring.
While more experiences and opportunities are coming back very soon (I’m looking at you Minnie Vans) I can’t help but notice that some “early 2022” items seem to have fallen off the radar.
We are halfway through April so I think it’s fair to say it’s not “early 2021” anymore.
Hey Disney! Amazon Echo Device
Hey Disney!
In November 2021, we learned that Hey Disney! is going to be a unique version of Amazon Echo.
Also Hey Disney! devices were to be installed in 30,000 hotel rooms across Walt Disney World in early 2022 plus they could be purchased for home use.
Hey Disney! would be able to handle requests, such as asking for more towels or requesting Bell Services.
Hey Disney! would answer questions about your Disney World hotel, give you Disney transportation tips and wait times, provide park hours, tell you what time the fireworks would be at Magic Kingdom and more.
I was supposed to receive a complimentary home version of Hey Disney! but it never arrived. Recently I sent an email to Disney asking when it might be sent out. The Cast Member explained that the project is delayed but will be available sometime in 2022.
The Return of the Disney Dining Plans
Last August, Disney World sent an email to travel agents stating that the Disney Dining Plans would be returning “soon.” I don’t know how Disney defines “soon” but I assume 8+ months could be considered soon by some comparisons.
I believe Disney wants to offer this product again but there are a still a number of operational concerns that need to be addressed.
Not all the restaurants at Disney World have reopened and most are still not operating at full capacity due to staffing issues. This is why it has been somewhat difficult to secure dining reservations.
At Epcot alone, we’re still waiting for Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Norway, Takumi-Tei Restaurant in Japan, Monsieur Paul in France, and Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco to reopen. Hopefully as the Cultural Representatives begin to arrive this summer, these restaurants will reopen…um…soon!
Staff shortages are still a major factor but I’m not so sure Disney is in a hurry to hire more people right now.
Currently the demand for leisure travel is very high. But if the economy makes a downward trend, Disney World could easily be over staffed in 2023.
There are a few more issues that need to be addressed before the Disney Dining Plans can be brought back. But let’s hope they come back “soon.”
3rd Generation Magic Bands
On September 30, 2021 we learned that 3rd generation Magic Band would be arriving at Walt Disney World in early 2022. If you have been paying attention to this article, you know how that went!
Last fall I began advising my clients who booked 2022 travel to hold off on purchasing Magic Bands in anticipation of the 3rd generation bands being released.
Generation 3 Magic Bands are pretty cool, I had a chance to see a test band in action. They come alive at various times as you move about the parks and resorts with color-changing lights, haptic vibrations and gesture recognition.
These wristbands will allow you to engage in new interactive experiences resort-wide. There is no official word on when they will be introduced at Walt Disney World. I just know they’re running late.
As always, stay tuned to OrlandoParksGuy.com/blog for more information about Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Disney Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean.

Character Greetings Returning to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line
Soon you can hug the Disney characters again in Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Disney Cruise Line
Everyday someone sends an email asking me when they can hug Disney characters again. The wait is almost over! Character greetings are returning to Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line as early as April 18, 2022.
The official announcement was released today from the Walt Disney Company:
“As early as April 18, we will start reintroducing traditional character greetings at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, as well as aboard Disney Cruise Line and at Aulani Resort in Hawaii. Very soon, Guests will once again be able to hug Mickey Mouse, get an autograph from Mulan, and share a laugh with Goofy. We know many of you have missed these special moments, and your Disney character friends have missed you, too!
During the past two years, we’ve taken a very gradual, intentional approach to health and safety protocols. Recent trends and guidance have provided opportunities for us to bring back some of our most beloved magic, like character greetings and dining experiences. Margaritaville Resort Orlando is a Game Changer for Disney World, Universal Orlando
Margaritaville Orland Resort is located just outside Walt Disney World. It features a luxury hotel tower, vacation home rentals, lagoon pools, a dining and entertainment district and Orlando’s newest water park, H20 LIVE.
Recently I had a chance to visit Margaritaville Resort Orlando, located just outside the entrance to Walt Disney World in Kissimmee, Florida. It’s so close to Disney World, you can see Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge from the upper floors of the hotel.
Margaritaville Resort Orlando
This is a brand new, full service resort offering a luxury (but relaxed) hotel tower plus Key West-style vacation homes. The best part is that they usually cost less than Disney World Moderate and Deluxe hotels!
Margaritaville Orlando offers a complimentary theme park shuttle to/from Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and Seaworld. Reservations can be made at concierge desk in the lobby.
Standard hotel room at Margaritaville Resort Orlando
Most Margaritaville Orlando hotel rooms sleep 4 people. If you have more than 4 people, look into a suite or consider one of the vacation cottages.
Margaritaville Cottages provide a truly unique experience as the whole family can stay under one roof in a tropical paradise.
1 to 8 Bedroom Cottages are available and each Cottage is equipped for all your vacation needs, including full kitchen with accessories and appliances, full size fridge, Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker, and a dining area.
Margaritville Orlando is also home to Sunset Walk, a shopping, dining, entertainment district in Orlando, popular with visitors and locals alike.
Sunset Walk is a great place to have dinner, enjoy live music, and maybe even a car show or farmers market.
You’ll also find H20 LIVE! Orlando’s newest water park, also on located on site.

Land and Sea Summer Vacay in Orlando
August deals on Royal Caribbean from Orlando (Port Canaveral, Florida) are available now
Earlier this week I shared that Disney Cruise Line is sold out for summer sailings. But it’s not too late! Go Royal Caribbean out of Port Canaveral and save big. Port Canaveral is less than an hour away from the Orlando theme parks and airport.
Tip #1 - Take Advantage of Royal Caribbean Offers in August
The cruise lines want your business. Obviously they have been hit hard by the pandemic plus they are recovering from a period of highly restrictive and confusing CDC regulations.
The cruise lines have every reason to ensure guests are safe onboard. An outbreak on one ship, any ship, would be disastrous for the entire industry. No one wants that.
All of the major cruise lines have exceeded the CDC guidelines and have proven they can sail safely.
As the industry struggles to recover, the cruise lines are offering amazing discounts.
This is your opportunity to enjoy the family vacation of a lifetime, for less. This means you can do even more.
Take a look at these rates for August 2022 using Royal Caribbean’s latest promotion:
Oasis of the Seas | Royal Caribbean
Royal Caribbean August Sailings from Port Canaveral, Florida*
August 1, 2022 - 4 night sailing from $433 per person
August 4, 2022 - 4 night sailing from $233 per person
August 5, 2022 - 3 night sailing from $318 per person
August 8, 2022 - 5 night sailing from $313 per person
August 12, 2022 - 3 night sailing from $309 per person
August 15, 2022 - 4 night sailing from $349 per person
August 19, 2022 - 3 night sailing from $309 per person
August 22, 2022 - 4 night sailing from $339 per person
August 26, 2022 - 3 night sailing from $288 per person
Tip 2: Visit the Orlando Theme Parks
You’ll be in Orlando anyway, so why not plan a visit to Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando?
I help clients everyday plan Land and Sea vacations in Orlando. A 3 or 4 night cruise on Royal Caribbean plus 3 or 4 nights at the Orlando theme parks is a great vacation.
Everyday I work with clients who trust me show them how to book a Land and Sea vacation. Put my experience to work
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line offers a family-focused vacation experience just like Disney Cruise Line. Actually, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at Coco Cay, usually gets higher marks than Disney’s Castaway Cay Island.
Now is the best time to begin planning your summer vacation. Cruise fares will increase as the sail date gets closer. Those who book early save the most.
*Price is per person, in USD, for cruise only on select sailings and stateroom categories, based on double-occupancy, reflects any promotional savings, and is subject to change and availability. Taxes, fees, and port expenses are additional. Bookings made under the Non-Refundable Deposit Program are subject to a 100 USD cancellation or change fee per guest. Price includes non-commissionable cruise fare. Additional restrictions apply, including the terms and conditions of any promotions and pricing programs. © 2019 Royal Caribbean. Disney Cruise Line: Disney Dream Sold Out for Summer, Fall 2022
Now is the time to book summer travel! Summer and fall Disney cruises from Port Canaveral are sold out, or out or nearly sold out. Contact me today for options.
If you have been trying to book a summer 2022 vacation you know how difficult it has been trying to find availability at popular destinations like Disney Cruise Line, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
Demand for summer travel is soaring right now, I haven’t worked with this many clients, who are actively booking vacations in my entire career.
To this point, all 3 and 4 night Disney Cruise Line sailings from Port Canaveral are now unavailable from from mid-June through December 2022.
3 and 4 night cruises from Port Canaveral on Disney Cruise Line are no longer available.
Recently Disney Cruise Line announced that the Disney Wish was going to be delayed by a few weeks.
Searches for cruises on the Disney Cruise Line website are returning no results from summer and fall 2022 on Port Canaveral sailings.
Now the Disney Wish will begin sailing out of Port Canaveral in mid-July 2022. More details will be announced on February 8, 2022.
This complicated an already busy cruise season as guests on the Disney Wish were given priority to rebook or to receive a Future Cruise Credit.
The future of the Disney Dream is also uncertain. It was scheduled to begin sailing out of the Miami area once the Disney Wish arrived.
Now is the best time to book a summer cruise in order to get the best prices. If you’re a seasoned cruiser you already know this.
Fortunately Royal Caribbean Cruise Line still has availability out of Port Canaveral, Florida. RCCL also offers family-centered cruise vacations, similar to Disney Cruise Line, often for a lot less.
Read more about Royal Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral.
While I’m sure there is a lot of disappointment around this, I’d rather that Disney get it right rather than rush it. I’m sure it will be worth the wait.
But right now is the best time to book your Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas.
My clients enjoy great deals on Royal Caribbean and a generous onboard credit - to be used to almost anything you like while on your cruise.

Yes, the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is a big hit, but having experienced the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts for the past few years now, I have to say it’s actually my favorite event at Epcot.
For one, you won’t find the “drink around the world” college kids partying World Showcase. But I like it because there are a number of interactive elements, like the giant ‘Paint By Numbers Wall” and a number of creative projects taking shape right in front of you - such as the elaborate chalk art right on some Epcot’s sidewalks.
Festival Dates
This year, the Epcot International Festival of the Arts kicks off Jan. 14 and runs through Feb. 21, 2022.
Don’t Miss These Festival Highlights
The popular DISNEY ON BROADWAY Concert Series returns, with three shows each evening headlined by Broadway stars performing beloved songs from more than 25 years of award-winning stage productions.
This is an excellent way to enjoy Disney on Broadway music without having to buy pricey (but worth it!) tickets for a Broadway show.
These shows are extremely popular! I recommend purchasing a DISNEY ON BROADWAY Dining Package. These packages allow you to enjoy a great lunch or dinner at Epcot and guaranteed admission to the performance.
Beginning Dec. 14, Guests can visit ArtfulEPCOT.com to find out more about DISNEY ON BROADWAY Dining Packages.
Speaking of dining, Epcot will feature 15 Food booths, or “studios” throughout World Showcase.
This year 2 new studios will be introduced, Deco Delights and The Craftman’s Courtyard featuring artfully presented cuisine and beverages as visually appealing as they are delicious.
Interactive Art for the Whole Family
Watch imaginative chalk artists create masterpieces at Chalk Art Galleries, or improve your own artistic skills by learning how to draw a Disney Character at Animation Academy.
Paint By Number Wall at Epcot
Children can create their own chalk masterpieces at Kid’s Chalk Art and families can leave their artistic stamp on a larger-than-life mural at Expression Section: A Paint by Numbers Mural.
Around World Showcase, Guests can step into renowned paintings from centuries past in stunning Artful Photo Ops.
