Abandoned Walt Disney World (Part 2)

Think you know everything about the Disney parks? Think again. In Part 2 of our Abandoned Walt Disney World series, we go behind the gates of shuttered restaurants, forgotten gift shops, and a mystery island that Disney would rather you forget.

Disney’s experiences division, which includes Walt Disney World, is the best-performing part of the Walt Disney Company. But even with the theme parks carrying the company, I discovered 10 more venues at Walt Disney World that are just sitting abandoned today.

Discovery Island at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida has been abandoned since 1999.

Today I’m taking you on another nostalgic journey through Walt Disney World Resort to explore some abandoned attractions hiding in plain sight. In my first video, I asked you what you’d like me to cover next in Part 2. Many of you requested the same one - so it’s only fitting that I gave it the top spot - stay tuned to #1 to see what it is!

Watch the full video: Abandoned Disney Part 2

#10 The Outpost Shop

Just Outside Animal Kingdom’s main entrance, you’ll find this abandoned gift shop. The Outpost Shop was your first and last chance to buy Animal Kingdom-related merch like safari hats, African wood carvings, Disney toys, and Animal Kingdom logo items. It was outside the gates so you didn’t need a ticket to buy a souvenir.

I have not seen it opened in the past 5 years but the Disney World website shows it’s temporarily closed. I occasionally see a Cast Member come out, so it might be used for something internally. If you know what it’s being used for, leave a comment. I mostly see confused guests walk around it thinking it might be a restroom.

#9 Discovery River

All that’s left of the Discovery River Boats at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park are the covered buildings that once led to a very short-lived attraction. Well, technically it wasn’t an attraction, and that in itself was the problem. When Animal Kingdom opened in April 1998, the Discovery River Boats were operating as water taxis to shuttle guests around the park.

discoevery island boat ride at disney animal kingdom

However, guests thought this was an actual ride, and long lines were formed by eager guests wanting to go for a boat ride. I remember being there and thinking it would be similar to the Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom.

Disney did everything it could to let people know this wasn’t an attraction - even changing the name to “Discovery River Boat Water Taxi” a few months later. In 1999 Disney decided to close the water taxis but the docks are still there today.

The Upcountry Landing dock, located in the Asia section of the park, is now used for seating and special events. The dock in the former Safari Village, now known as Discovery Island, is often used for character meet and greets. I would love to see these boats come back one way or another.

#8 Discovery Island

If you’ve stayed at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, you are likely familiar with Discovery Island, situated in the middle of Bay Lake. Water taxis pass by it all day long and if you look carefully, you can still see some remnants of what this island used to be.

discovery-island-disney-world

It opened as Treasure Island in 1974 which was a little before my time but it sounds awesome to me. Later it was renamed Discovery Island and in 1995, it became a small zoo where Disney charged for admission. It closed in 1999 probably because Disney’s Aimal Kingdom Park had opened in ‘98.

disovery-island-disney-world

Today the islands sit abandoned with no plans for any future development. I’m told that most of the buildings and pathways are still there but have become victims of natural decay. What would you like to see Disney do with this island? Discovery Island has a rich interesting history, from the original owner who used to grow exotic plants to an incident that led to Disney being charged with 16 counts of animal cruelty. People have attempted to sneak onto the island over the years but each of them have been caught and banned from Disney. So please, do not attempt to tour this island.

#7 Fort Wilderness Marina

At one time guests could rent a variety of different boats from Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, and any other resort located on Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. While it’s still possible to rent a boat at Disney World, you can no longer do so from Fort Wilderness. At one time you could rent pontoon boats, Boston Whalers, and my personal favorites, the Sea Raycers - also known as Water-Mouse.

Today if you would like to rent a boat, you’ll need to visit Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort where pontoon boats are rented on a first-come, first-served basis. The Fort Wilderness Marina is nearly abandoned today - opened only to those with scheduled fishing charters. The boat slips sit empty except for a few service boats and of course the water taxis to Magic Kingdom.

#6 Bonfamille’s Cafe at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter

When Port Orleans Resort launched in 1990, Bonfamille’s Cafe served as its table service restaurant. After the 2001 merger with Dixie Landings, forming Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter, Bonfamille’s closed and never reopened. Named after Madame Bonfamille from Disney’s 1973 film “The Aristocats”, it had children’s menus with a coloring book detailing the restaurant's and resort's backstory.  On the menu, you’d find things like French onion soup and gumbo dishes.

Bonfamille’s Cafe at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter

Abandoned Bonfamille’s Cafe at Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter

Today the restaurant sits shuttered, the signage removed. Most guests today would have no idea an entire restaurant sits on the other side of these doors. I’m told by Cast Members that this space is used for special events, and it’s also one of Disney’s test kitchens where they create mockups of restaurants, train cast members, and come up with test menus.

#5 Amani Village Traders at Epcot

The Amani Village Traders shop in Epcot was set up at one time to look like an African street market with souvenirs for sale inside and outside the building. There were several sections here mostly representing regions of Africa, where Disney hoped you would buy African toys and clothing and even straight-up Disney merch like hats and t-shirts

Amani Village Traders shop in Epcot

The Outpost was shuttered to make room for an exhibit during the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival in 2018. Then in 2023, Disney began removing much of the African artwork around the pavilion’s exterior, claiming it was culturally insensitive.

African masks and wood carvings hanging on the walls were replaced with posters, and a muralist was brought in to paint the roll-up doors - giving little hope that those doors will be opening anytime soon. Today Amani village is simply being used as storage.

#4 Big River Brewing

Big River Grille and Brewing Works was once a bustling spot on Disney’s Boardwalk. For years it provided guests with a casual dining option - catering to conventioneers who were staying at the Swan and Dolphin and Beach Club. Personally, I thought it was one of the worst restaurants in Disney World so I don’t miss it.

big-river-brewing-disney-boardwalk

Big River Brewing at Disney Boardwalk

The restaurant was owned by SPB Hospitality, which owns a nationwide chain of steakhouses like Logan’s Steakhouse and several microbreweries. The company filed for bankruptcy reorganization in June of 2020 and Big River Brewing didn’t make the cut. In January 2024, the restaurant closed permanently to guests.

Today, this abandoned space sticks out like a sore thumb on the Boardwalk along with another seemingly abandoned idea - the Cake Bake Shop.

This massive bakery was supposed to take over the space where ESPN Zone was once located. But it has been in a constant state of “coming soon” for many years now.

#3 Aunt Polly’s DockSide Inn

Many of you mentioned Aunt Polly’s Dockside in the comments of my first abandoned video so I was sure it include it in the sequel. Aunt Polly’s was, at one time, the quick service restaurant on Tom Sawyer Island. It’s a little out of the way - being accessible only by raft. Years ago it was known for fried chicken and biscuits. But today, it’s listed as permanently closed on Google Maps and it has been removed from the Disney World website.

It has been known to operate seasonally during the busiest weeks at Walt Disney World but I have not personally seen it open in several years.

#2 Tangaroa Terrace

If you have ever walked through Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort or passed by it on the monorail, you have certainly seen Tangeroa Terrace. It’s a huge building that sits right in the heart of the resort and It has been shuttered longer than it has been opened. Over the years it had numerous functions ranging from a buffet restaurant, a convention room, and even a child care center called the Neverland Club, and later  Lilo’s Playhouse which closed in 2018. That would be the last time anything happened here. But here’s a fun fact, you can still go inside this building - sort of. It also serves as the hotel’s laundry room. If anyone know what this building is being used for today, please leave a comment.

#1 Stage 1 Company Store

The number 1 comment I received after making my first Abandoned Disney video was that I need to include the Stage 1 Company Store - also known as the Muppet Store. It was one of the go-to stores for all things Muppets, being located right at the exit of Muppet Vision 3D. The store once sold plush characters,

Muppet-themed toys, figures, and t-shirts. Both inside and outside fans could find a ton Muppet signs and gags, many of the exterior ones are still visible today. Inside, however, all the retail racks and displays have been removed, giving little hope that this store will make a comeback.

The Muppet Store at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Actually, we will be lucky if Muppet Vision 3D is still around in a few years as Disney has announced plans for a Monsters Inc themed roller coaster - and it could very well be built in this spot.

Riding the Brightline Train from Orlando: A Complete Guide for Florida Travelers

Discover what it’s like to ride Brightline from Orlando to Aventura. From Premium Lounges to high-speed comfort, this is Florida travel reimagined. Watch my full journey on YouTube!

A New Way to Travel in Florida

If you’re planning a Florida vacation, you’ve probably already thought about flights, rental cars, and even driving yourself around the state. But what if I told you there’s a high-speed train that makes travel between Orlando and South Florida not only easier—but way more enjoyable?

A Brightline train arrives for the afternoon run to Orlando

A northbound Brightline train arrives at Aventura for an afternoon run to Orlando.

That’s exactly what Brightline offers. This sleek, modern train service connects Orlando with cities like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Aventura, reaching speeds up to 125 mph. For family vacationers, Orlando travelers, and anyone who loves theme parks and cruises, Brightline is quickly becoming one of the best ways to get around Florida.

I recently took the Brightline from Orlando to Aventura, and I filmed the entire experience so you can see exactly what it’s like. Spoiler alert: it feels less like a train ride and more like flying business class on the ground. You can watch my full journey here 👇

👉 Watch the full Brightline Orlando to Aventura experience on YouTube

🏟️ Starting at the Brightline Orlando Station

My trip began at the brand-new Brightline Orlando Station, located at Orlando International Airport. If you’re flying into Orlando for a Disney World or Universal Orlando vacation, this is incredibly convenient—you can land, grab your luggage, and head straight for the train without ever stepping outside.

The station itself feels more like an airport terminal than a train station. It’s spacious, modern, and built with travelers in mind. There’s plenty of seating, a check-in process that’s smooth and easy, and if you’ve booked Premium Class, you’ll have access to the Premium Lounge, which is a game-changer.

🍷 Inside the Brightline Premium Lounge

Brightline has two ticket options: Smart Class (their standard option) and Premium Class, which offers a more elevated travel experience. Since I wanted to see what all the hype was about, I opted for Premium.

Breakfast buffet at the Brightline Premium Lounge Orlando

Breakfast offerings at the Premium Lounge at the Brightline Orlando Train Station

The Premium Lounge in Orlando was impressive. Comfortable seating, complimentary snacks and drinks (yes, even wine and beer), and a quiet place to relax before boarding. If you’re traveling with kids, it’s also a lifesaver because it gives everyone space to decompress before hopping on the train.

This lounge alone already had me feeling like I was about to fly, not take a train.

🚄 All Aboard: The Brightline Train Experience

When it was time to board, the process was simple. Premium passengers board first, and the staff made everything easy. Walking into the Premium car, the first thing I noticed was how spacious and comfortable the seating was compared to what you might expect from a traditional train.

  • Seats: Wide, cushioned, and designed for comfort

  • Legroom: Plenty of space, even if you’re tall

  • Service: Complimentary drinks and snacks brought right to your seat

  • Wi-Fi and Outlets: Perfect for staying connected or charging devices

Brightline markets itself as a “different kind of train experience,” and they’re not kidding. Traveling at 125 mph while sipping a complimentary drink and stretching out in a comfy seat felt worlds away from the cramped flights and long car rides I’ve taken in Florida before.

📍 Arriving at Aventura Station

After a smooth ride, I arrived at Aventura Station, which is another beautifully designed stop along Brightline’s route. The station sits conveniently near Aventura Mall, one of the largest malls in Florida, and it’s a great jumping-off point if you’re planning to continue into Miami or Fort Lauderdale.

Seating area at the Aventura Brightline Train Station

Aventura Station | Brightline

For my trip, I explored some of the local attractions around Aventura, including food spots and shopping. This is one of the perks of Brightline—it doesn’t just drop you off in a random spot; stations are strategically placed near major hubs.

👨‍👩‍👧 Why Brightline is Perfect for Orlando Family Vacations

If you’re visiting Orlando for Disney World, Universal Orlando, or even a cruise out of Port Canaveral, Brightline adds a new option for extending your trip. Here’s why I think it’s perfect for families and vacationers:

  • No Rental Cars Needed – Skip the hassle of driving on I-95.

  • Stress-Free Travel – No long TSA lines like the airport.

  • Comfort for Kids – Spacious seating, Wi-Fi, and the ability to move around.

  • Easy Connections – Arrive in Orlando, hop on Brightline, and head straight to South Florida.

It’s also worth mentioning that for grandparents or extended family joining you in Florida, this is a safe and easy way for them to travel, too.

🎥 See the Full Journey on YouTube

I can tell you all about Brightline, but the truth is—you really need to see it to believe it. From the station in Orlando to the Premium Lounge, to the 125-mph ride itself, I captured it all in my video.

👉 Watch the full Brightline Orlando to Aventura experience on YouTube

If you’re planning a Florida trip, whether for theme parks, a cruise, or just to explore, Brightline might be the most enjoyable way to get around. I know I’ll be taking it again.

📝 Final Thoughts

Brightline is more than just a train. It’s a new way to experience Florida travel that’s faster, more comfortable, and, honestly, a lot more fun than I expected. For Orlando travelers, family vacationers, or anyone curious about theme park getaways, Brightline is a fantastic addition to your trip.

And if you want the full behind-the-scenes look, don’t miss my video—it’s packed with footage from every step of the journey.

The Dark Side of Disney World: Exploring Abandoned Places

Disney World is filled with magic, but hidden in plain sight are abandoned attractions, forgotten rides, and shuttered experiences. From Epcot’s old airport to the Star Wars hotel, these lost corners tell a haunting story. Join me as I explore the abandoned side of Disney World in my latest video.

The Forgotten Side of Disney World: Exploring Abandoned Places

When most people think of Walt Disney World, they picture dazzling fireworks, world-class rides, and magical family memories. But Disney World also has a hidden side—one that tells a quieter, more somber story. Scattered across the parks and resorts are abandoned attractions, shuttered buildings, and forgotten experiences that once entertained millions of guests but now sit in silence.

For those interested in abandoned exploration or Disney’s complex history, these places are haunting reminders of how quickly things can change in the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”

In my latest video, I take you deep into the abandoned corners of Disney World, uncovering long-forgotten experiences that many fans never even knew existed. You can watch it here: ▶ Watch the full video.

But let’s also explore some of Disney World’s most fascinating abandoned places—why they mattered, why they disappeared, and what still remains.

Magic Kingdom’s Forgotten Corners

Tomorrowland Skyway Station

Before the Disney Skyliner soared above Epcot and the resorts, Magic Kingdom had its very own gondola ride. The Skyway connected Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, offering guests a breezy bird’s-eye view of the park.

Tomorrowland Restrooms at Magic Kingdom

The Fantasyland station was demolished in 2011 to make way for the Tangled restrooms, but the Tomorrowland station still lingers—transformed into an unassuming bathroom. Look closely, though, and you can still see remnants of its past. For longtime fans, it’s eerie to think of gondolas once gliding where guests now rush in and out of restrooms.

Stitch’s Great Escape

One of Magic Kingdom’s most controversial attractions, Stitch’s Great Escape opened in 2004 as a family-friendly replacement for the terrifying Alien Encounter. Instead of a menacing alien, guests were strapped into seats while Stitch escaped, wreaking havoc in the theater—including his infamous “chili dog burp.”

old entrance to the stitch ride at magic kingdom park

But the attraction never really clicked. It shifted into seasonal operation, then quietly closed in 2018, with Disney confirming its fate two years later. Today, the building sits shuttered, occasionally used for special events. It’s a rare sight in Magic Kingdom: a large, circular shell of a building, abandoned in plain view.

Epcot’s Abandoned Experiences

Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure

Long before guests wielded interactive wands in the Wizarding World at Universal, Epcot had its own scavenger hunt: Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure. Armed with a phone-like device, guests followed Phineas and Ferb’s pet platypus Perry on secret missions around the World Showcase.

For a while, it was a fun way to engage kids in Epcot’s otherwise adult-leaning atmosphere. But by 2020, it quietly closed, with plans to replace it with a DuckTales-themed version that has yet to really take off. Today, the once-busy kiosks are silent, another interactive experiment that faded into memory.

Disney’s STOLport Airport

Believe it or not, Disney World once had its very own airport. Located just off World Drive, the STOLport (short for Short Take-Off and Landing) opened in the early 1970s to fly guests directly onto Disney property.

stal port airport at walt disney world (runway)

The service never caught on—few wanted to ride in small commuter planes—and by the late ’70s, it was abandoned. The runway still exists today, fenced off and overgrown. If you ride the Epcot monorail, you can still glimpse it. It’s eerie to see such an ambitious project reduced to nothing more than cracked pavement in the Florida sun.

Disney’s BoardWalk and Lost Nightlife

Jellyrolls Piano Bar

abandoned jellyrolls dualing piano bar at disney world

For nearly 30 years, Jellyrolls was the heart of Disney’s nightlife. A dueling piano bar at Disney’s BoardWalk, it attracted conventioneers, Epcot fans, and night owls who weren’t ready to call it quits after the parks closed.

But in 2025, Disney shut the doors for good, with vague talk of “reimagining” the BoardWalk. As of now, no plans have been revealed. The building remains dark, a quiet monument to a time when Disney after-hours felt alive.

Hollywood Studios: Lost in the Backlot

The Backlot Tour

Once the signature attraction of Disney-MGM Studios, the Backlot Tour was a sprawling tram ride through sets, wardrobe departments, and the legendary Catastrophe Canyon. Guests experienced Hollywood “behind the scenes”—with explosions, floods, and fireballs.

But over time, the tour shrank, pieces closed, and the attraction was reduced to little more than a shadow of its former self. In 2014, it closed permanently, making room for Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge.

Yet the past lingers. If you know where to look, you can still find remnants of the old tram load area tucked behind Star Wars Launch Bay. For Disney fans, it’s like walking through a ghost town hidden in plain sight.

Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple

From 2006 to 2020, Jedi Training gave kids the chance to duel Darth Vader on stage. Lightsabers clashed, robes flowed, and for many children it was the highlight of their Disney trip.

But when the parks closed in 2020, Jedi Training never returned. The stage signage was quietly removed, and today the old performance space is used for stroller parking. It’s a reminder that even beloved experiences can vanish overnight.

Resorts and Recreation That Disappeared

Polynesian Village Boat Rentals

Once, guests at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort could rent sailboats, pontoons, and sleek little speedboats that zipped across the Seven Seas Lagoon. It was pure 1970s vacation magic.

marina at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

But one by one, the rentals disappeared. Disney never made an official announcement; they simply faded away. After a tragic alligator incident near the Grand Floridian in 2016, boating activities diminished further, leaving the marina little more than a docking space for service boats and fireworks cruises.

Today, the dock is picturesque but empty, the laughter of families on the water replaced by silence.

Disney’s Biggest Blunder: Galactic Starcruiser

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was perhaps Disney’s most ambitious project—a two-night fully immersive Star Wars hotel experience. Guests boarded the Halcyon starcruiser, trained with lightsabers, and lived out their own Star Wars stories.

arial photo of the Galactic Star Cruiser Hotel at Disney World

But with costs soaring to $2,500 per person, the experience was too expensive for most families. Despite strong reviews, demand dried up. After just 18 months, the Halcyon closed in 2023.

Today, the $350 million building sits empty, hidden behind trees, with no clear future. It’s Disney’s most recent reminder that not every experiment lasts forever.

Why Abandoned Disney World Matters

To most visitors, Disney World feels timeless. But these abandoned spaces prove otherwise. Attractions disappear. Restaurants close. Even massive projects like the Starcruiser can fade into history.

For fans of abandoned exploration, these hidden corners are haunting. They’re not just empty buildings—they’re echoes of dreams, risks, and stories that once filled the parks with life.

If you want to see more of these places up close, don’t miss my latest video: ▶ Watch on YouTube.

Top 10 Magical Places to Take Family Photos at Disney World

My Top 10 Secret spots to take great photos at Walt Disney World!

Everyone wants to capture that perfect Disney World moment or an Instagram-worthy scene, but it’s not easy coming up with something unique. Lighting, crowds, and background clutter—they all make a difference.

I share all 10 of my secret photo spots at Walt Disney World in my YouTube Video but here’s a quick list you can use if you’re visiting the parks. I’ll sort this list by park to make it easy. You can bookmark this page on your phone and take it with you:

Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest from Flame Tree Barbecue

Expedition Everest is one of Animal Kingdom’s most iconic backdrops, and while the bridge and queue offer good shots, my favorite photo spot is the outdoor seating area behind Flame Tree Barbecue. Here, the mountain reflects perfectly in the lagoon below, offering one of the most picturesque and symmetrical views in the park.

It’s surprisingly peaceful here, especially in the morning when the restaurant hasn’t filled up yet. The mountain, sky, and water combine for a beautifully layered composition.

But the best time to visit is in late afternoon, when the sun is making everything look golden. Avoid peak dining hours, as the area gets more crowded, which can make it harder to maneuver around to get the best angle. If you're using a phone, switch to wide-angle mode or step back and zoom out to get the entire mountain in the frame. Make sure to include the reflection—it adds symmetry and interest to your shot.

Watch my YouTube video where I show you all the best photo locations in detail:

Tree of Life on Discovery Island Trail and Upcountry Landing

One of the most overlooked yet incredible photo locations in all of Animal Kingdom is along the Discovery Island Trail near the base of the Tree of Life. Most guests snap their Tree of Life photos from the bridge leading into the park or the central hub—but if you take the path that winds around the tree’s roots, you’ll find yourself face-to-face with its intricate carvings and textured bark. The walkway is shaded and quiet, with far fewer people than the main walkways, giving you the freedom to compose a family shot without distractions in the background. Even on the busiest days, there’s usually no one down here.

This is the best place to appreciate the full detail of the Tree of Life. The trail winds close to the tree itself, and depending on your angle, you can position your family in front of carvings of animals. It’s a completely different view than what most people see and makes for a more personal, intimate photo.

Another excellent location is Upcountry Landing, on the trail between Africa and Asia - just across from the Feathered Friends in Flight show. From this dock, you get a wider view of the Tree of Life with the river in the foreground. It’s especially striking in the morning or just before sunset, when the warm light hits the tree’s carved details and the water reflects the image beautifully.

Both of these spots provide not just quieter environments for photography, but angles that bring out the artistry of Animal Kingdom’s centerpiece. These areas might require a little exploring—but the payoff is a one-of-a-kind family photo you won’t get anywhere else.

EPCOT

Morocco Pavilion and the Fez House

The Morocco Pavilion is one of EPCOT’s most detailed and immersive environments, and it offers some of the most unique photo opportunities in all of World Showcase. What makes this pavilion stand out is the level of theming—it's filled with intricate architecture, authentic tile work, and winding pathways that transport you to another place entirely. Whether you're visiting during the day or at night, this pavilion delivers stunning backdrops for family photos.

One hidden gem within the pavilion is the Fez House, located just to the left as you enter deeper into the pavilion. It’s easy to miss, but step through the archway and you'll find yourself in a peaceful, tiled room with a gorgeous central fountain. The vibrant mosaics and arched entryways provide a richly textured setting that feels worlds away from the rest of the park.

This area is shaded and often very quiet, which makes it perfect for portraits and group photos without a lot of foot traffic. The natural lighting from the open-air ceiling softly illuminates the space, highlighting the detailed tile work and providing a warm glow.

Outside the Fez House, the pavilion's narrow alleys and courtyards are full of visual interest—from lanterns and carved wooden doors to decorative pottery and colorful textiles. These winding paths are fun to explore and ideal for capturing candid moments. At night, the area takes on a romantic, softly lit atmosphere with glowing lanterns and warm tones that make evening photos just as magical.

Whether you’re posing in front of the ornate archways or simply strolling the side streets with your family, Morocco is a pavilion that turns every corner into a beautiful photo backdrop. Don’t rush through it—take the time to explore and you’ll find countless opportunities for memorable shots.

Japan Pavilion Second Floor by Teppan Edo

For an elevated perspective at EPCOT, I always head to the second floor of the Japan Pavilion. Up the stairs near Mitsukoshi, right outside Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining, there’s a terrace that offers a stunning view over the World Showcase Lagoon.

From here, you can line up Spaceship Earth directly in the background. That is a great shot and not too many people make the trek upstairs to get it. The combination of traditional Japanese architectural elements like the bright red Tori Gate, in the foreground and EPCOT’s futuristic sphere in the distance gives your photo a unique contrast.

But I want to draw your attention to something even better. Instead of facing the lagoon from up here, turn the other way toward the white Japanese castle instead. It’s modeled after the White Egret Castle in Japan.

You can take photos anytime here but Sunset is the ideal time to visit this location. Just as the sun sets, and the lights come on, but before the sky is completely dark. And you can catch Spaceship Earth lit up during this time, reflecting the light beautifully in the distance.

While in Japan pavilion, try experimenting with elements like lanterns or water features in your photo. This terrace provides a unique view with minimal foot traffic.

Spaceship Earth from Inside Journey of Water

Journey of Water has quickly become one of my favorite new additions to EPCOT—and not just for the attraction itself. As you move through the exhibit, several openings reveal fantastic framed views of Spaceship Earth through the mist and greenery.

These natural frames—waterfalls, archways, and foliage—add depth to the photo and help isolate Spaceship Earth in a way that feels both modern and organic. It’s an ideal location for a unique EPCOT family shot that doesn’t look like the typical entrance photo. But there is one problem here - it’s going to be difficult to get this shot without other people in them.

So I recommend coming back at night when both Journey of Water and Spaceship earth are lit up. And this attraction is usually less crowded at night, so it’s a great time to explore it anyway.

And if you want a great shot of Spaceship Earth without others int he background, there’s a secret spot I found. You’ll find it on the walkway that passes between Spaceship Earth and Journey of Water. It’s a little service area that everyone walks by. But you’ll get a very unique photo of the geodesic sphere framed with a beautiful mix of EPCOT’s natural and futuristic theming – a moment worth capturing for sure.

China Pavilion Gardens

The China Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase offers one of the most tranquil and visually stunning backdrops for family photos—especially when you head into the side gardens rather than staying in the main thoroughfare. Tucked away from the crowds, the gardens feature winding paths, ornate bridges, koi ponds, and traditional Chinese architecture that combine to create a peaceful and photogenic setting.

One of the best angles is near the moon gate or across the small pond, where the reflections of the red pagoda and rock formations add visual interest. The side gardens are especially beautiful during the golden hour, when the sun casts warm light across the lanterns and tiled rooftops. This soft lighting flatters skin tones and adds natural vibrance to your shots.

What I like most about this spot is the serenity. It’s often overlooked, which means fewer people walking through your frame and more time to set up your shot. It’s a peaceful oasis that captures both the beauty of the World Showcase and the personal joy of your trip—and one of recommended spots for a photo that feels authentically Disney without being overly obvious.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Sunset Boulevard Near Tower of Terror (Hollywood Studios)

Tower of Terror might be the most dramatic icon in any Disney park, and you’ll find one of the best photo locations just outside the Beverly Sunset Boutique, facing down Sunset Boulevard. From this spot, you can capture the towering hotel framed by palm trees and vintage streetlamps, giving your photo both scale and atmosphere. And while this is a great photo, it’s been done.

But I have a few great photo spots that few people know about. The first, head to the courtyard by Rock n Roller Coaster - specifically over by the exit to the ride. There, you’ll catch Tower of Terror rising out of the tree line and you may even catch the elevator doors open if you time it right. Now it might be harder to take a family photo here, this is more about just taking a great picture of the tower itself. Dusk or Nightime would be best for this shot while the tower is lit up. I would use Sunset Boulevard for the family photo and this location for a great photo of the tower.

Another unique spot is the in the courtyard just as you exit Tower of Terror. Turn around and look up, you’ll see a new side of Tower, that most people never notice. I mean who would think to stop and look up here? But for those who do, you get a unique photo.

YOu can also get some great photos of Tower of Terror right from the outside queue area. You’ll capture just how tall it is from here, and you’ll get a great mix of natural elements like plants and trees with the tower rising up out of them.

In the late afternoon or even at dusk, the lighting turns golden, casting a beautiful glow across the façade and down the boulevard. It’s a cinematic look that matches the attraction’s Hollywood theme perfectly. If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the elevator doors opening at the top, adding a dynamic touch to your shot.

Avoid midday when the area is brightest unless you’re shooting during a cloudy day. The moody skies just add to the Hollywood horror vibe.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the Millennium Falcon at Night (Hollywood Studios)

For one of the most awe-inspiring and cinematic backdrops in all of Walt Disney World, head to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge after sunset. The Millennium Falcon, parked in front of Ohnaka Transport Solutions, becomes even more impressive at night. With its glowing lights, steam effects, and ambient sounds, it feels like stepping into a movie—and your photos will show it.

What makes this photo spot special is how immersive the setting becomes once the sun goes down. The lighting highlights every detail on the Falcon, from its weathered panels to the blinking lights on its engines. Position your family in the center of the courtyard just in front of the ship, keeping some distance so you can capture the entire starship in frame. You’ll want to take a wide-angle shot here if possible.

Even though Galaxy’s Edge gets crowded, nighttime tends to thin out the traffic a bit. Wait a few minutes between groups to grab a shot with fewer people. Night mode on phones works well here, or you can stabilize your camera on a trash can or bench to keep things sharp.

This is also one of the few spots where candid photos work just as well as posed ones. Let your family interact naturally—pretend to inspect the ship, talk to a cast member, or look up at the spires around Black Spire Outpost. You’ll come away with images that feel less like theme park photos and more like a real Star Wars adventure.

Magic Kingdom

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure from the Adventureland Side (Magic Kingdom)

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is the latest attraction at Magic Kingdom, and it brings a refreshing change to the park’s landscape. Most guests crowd around the front entrance, but one of my favorite angles is from the Adventureland side. As you walk from the Jungle Cruise or Magic Carpets of Aladdin toward Frontierland, you’ll find a spot where Tiana’s Foods water tower peeks above the trees.

This view is cleaner, less crowded, and includes beautiful foliage that naturally frames the scene. Depending on the time of day, you might even catch a log flume coming down the drop. What I love about this angle is that it feels like a true discovery, not something everyone else is capturing.

If you visit in the morning, you’ll benefit from warm, golden lighting that filters through the trees. This not only adds a natural glow to your photo but also softens shadows on faces, making it perfect for portraits. Experiment with portrait mode on your phone to create a slight blur effect in the background—this draws the eye toward your family. For the best composition, try shooting from a lower angle so you can include more of the sky and the upper portion of the attraction, giving your photo more visual depth.

Main Street USA with Cinderella Castle (Magic Kingdom)

It doesn’t get more iconic than a family photo on Main Street USA with Cinderella Castle in the background. But instead of stopping right in the middle of the street like everyone else, I recommend finding one of the quieter alcoves—like the sides of the Castle. There are quite a few unique ways to shoot the castle, without having a ton of people in them.

The first is on the Tomorrowland Bridge, just off the hub. If you’re here in the morning, the sun will be rising behind you if you’re facing the castle. This also a great spot after the sun goes down.

Second, try the other side over by the entrance to Liberty Sqaure, right next to Sleepy Hollow.

You can try both locations during the day and at night. You’ll need to work around the rising or setting sun here.

If you really want to try something different, go to the front of the castle and look for the castle archways. Take a lower position, maybe crouch down and angle your camera up. You’ll get the arch in the foreground with the castle behind it, creating a very dramatic and unique shot and hopefully not to many people in it.

These spots give you fewer crowds and an off-center view of the castle that feels more unique. Early morning rope drop or the last hour before park close are your best bets for clean shots.

And if you want that Main Street Shot, You can even ask a PhotoPass photographer to use your own camera for free. Ask them to shoot from a low angle to get the full castle and sky behind you—just be clear about the framing you want. Although they are pretty about coming up with ideas of their own as well. You may also want to have them take a few with their camera. This is the quintessential Disney photo, so it might be worth it to purchase a one or two here.

Airport Luggage Service returns to select disney world hotels.

This offering is part of our ongoing collaboration with Orlando International Airport to help manage the high demand for travel to Central Florida and enhance the experience not just for our guests, but for all travelers passing through Orlando International Airport.

Disney World is piloting this new service and shared that it will continue to launch, learn, and adjust.

This service is now available at the following Disney World resorts:

  • Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

  • Disney’s All-Star Music Resort

  • Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort

  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

  • Disney’s Pop Century Resort

This service does not include luggage transportation from the airport to a Disney Resort hotel.

If a Guest's flight is scheduled to depart before 1 p.m., they must drop their bags off at Luggage Assistance by 1 a.m. the night before their flight. If their flight is scheduled to depart at 1 p.m. or later, they must drop their bags off at least 4 hours before departure and no later than 1 p.m.

Guests can contact or visit Luggage Assistance for any questions inside their hotel lobby.

Rumors are going around Orlando that this service may be expanded and we could possibly see the return of an airport shuttle service on a motor coach. This is only a rumor and not confirmed. Stay tuned to my blog for any updates.

Top 5 Orlando Travel Scams Exposed

Scammers take advantage of Orlando travelers every day. Until now! I expose 5 common travel scams near Disney World and Universal Orlando.

Orlando is generally a safe travel destination, but like any major tourist city, there’s always someone out there thinking of new scams. Millions of visitors pass through Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld each week. Most are in town for a few days, and scammers know that. They are experienced at what they do and know just how to lure us in. Until now. I am going to help you avoid Orlando’s top 5 travel scams. I’ll even expose real-life examples of online scams going on right now.

orlando travel scam - abandoned gift ship in Orlando

5 Pizza Scam

The pizza scam in Orlando was alive and well until a few years ago until Disney and Universal caught on and began taking steps to help their guests avoid it. But these scammers are still around, especially if you’re staying at an off-property resort like in Kissimmee or Lake Buena Vista. There are 3 types of scams that I hear about that range from misleading advertising to outright theft.

Watch my video on Orlando travel scams now

But they all have one thing in common: they start by having someone slip menus and fliers under your hotel room door for a seemingly local pizza place. In Orlando, it’s a misdemeanor to distribute menus and fliers at hotels without permission.

Pizza Scam # 1. Now, I have to admit, I love reading about travel scams, and this is one of my favorites because it’s kind of humorous. It works like this. You get a flier under your door for what appears to be a legitimate pizza shop in Orlando. It has pictures of the pizza, maybe some coupons, and there’s even a website with fake reviews.

But the problem is, there’s no pizza restaurant. It’s just a guy who goes to Walmart or Sam’s Club, Costco etcetera and buys a ton of frozen pizzas. He then cooks them at his house. As humorous as this might be, I want to warn you that this illegitimate business is not licensed or inspected and may have health code violations, not to mention subpar pizza. Although Costco pizza is pretty good.

Pizza Scam #2 You call the number provided on the fake menu, pay with your credit card, and expect the pizza to arrive in 30-40 minutes. After an hour, no pizza. You call to get an update - you're told they are really busy. 2 hours, no pizza. You call again, and this time, you’re so mad you cancel the order thinking you really showed them. They agree to cancel the order and apologize. You fell right into their trap. They never intended to send you the pizza and they appear to be very sorry - this is so you don’t any foul play. But here’s the problem. They have your credit card number, which is all they wanted anyway. A month or two later, when the pizza incident is long forgotten, you discover that someone went on a shopping spree with your credit card.

And Pizza Scam #3. So you call the number listed on the menu and place an order. A pizza actually arrives with this one. But the number on the menu was fake. You actually called a scammer who placed the order for you and used your credit card. But now he has your card number, which he will use later on when you’re long gone.

To avoid food delivery scams in Orlando, use trusted services like Uber Eats and DoorDash. Or use your phone to search for nearby chain restaurants like Pizza Hut or Domino's and order directly from them. Never order from any menus or fliers found around your hotel or slipped under your door.

#4 Resort Fee Scams and Other Hidden Charges

Some vacation rentals or hotels advertise an attractive low nightly rate but tack on high resort fees, cleaning fees, and/or parking charges that are only disclosed in the fine print, or maybe not at all. This can lead to a significantly higher final price than expected. It’s a dirty trick, and it’s done all the time - unless you book a package directly with Disney and Universal.

One of my subscribers sent me a message that she had found an inexpensive hotel in Kissimmee for 1 night, as a pre-night to her Disney World package stay. She found the hotel on a travel site for less than $50 per night. But when she arrived, all the surprise fees nearly doubled the base price. I did my own research on this and saw exactly what she was talking about. Here’s an example of a travel site offering the Holiday Inn and Suites at Celebration for just $44. With sales tax, the price for 1 night came to $50, which is no big deal. But the fine print reveals a resort fee of nearly $32 for the night! Almost doubling the nightly rate.

Even the name of the hotel is dishonest. Holiday Inn Celebration implies that the hotel is located in Celebration, Florida which is the town created by the Walt Disney Company. Celebration has some of the most expensive real estate in the State of Florida, so a hotel in this town would surely be high-end. But the Holiday Inn is located a few miles down the road. While I do think it’s a perfectly fine hotel, you just need to know it’s not in Celebration and to watch out for those resort fees.

The same is true for the Delta Hotel Celebration. This hotel is not in Celebration, either. Instead, you’ll be overlooking the abandoned Orlando Sun Resort and an older time-share community.

When booking an off-site hotel near Disney or Universal, do your homework. Read the fine print, email the hotel to ask about any resort fees, and consider using a travel agent who knows about all these tricks in Orlando.

# 3 Fake Airbnb Resorts

When visiting Orlando, rental scams are unfortunately too common, especially around the Davenport area, which is a neighborhood near Disney that is zoned almost entirely for Airbnb properties - many of which are owned by Chinese real estate companies. Scammers often target families searching for affordable accommodations by advertising fake vacation homes or using deceptive pricing tactics to lure unsuspecting tourists. Scammers create fake listings for properties that don’t exist or that they don’t actually own. These listings often look too good to be true—luxurious, spacious, and priced far lower than similar options. They may ask for payment through platforms like Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, or wire transfers, which makes it difficult to get your money back if things go wrong.

The scammers will offer you a nice rental online, but when you arrive, the owner claims it’s "not available due to sudden maintenance. He will offer you a different, lower-quality property—often in a less desirable location. Some companies do this intentionally, hoping you’ll accept the switch rather than deal with the hassle of finding a new place. To avoid this, always book through reputable vacation rental platforms like Airbnb. OR book a hotel on Disney property instead.

orlando ticket scams - booth

#2 Orlando Theme Park Ticket Scams

If you’ve visited Orlando before, chances are you’ve noticed the many billboards, signs, and kiosks near Orlando’s theme parks advertising discounted attraction tickets. While some of these businesses are legitimate, others operate illegally, taking advantage of unsuspecting visitors. Scammers often sell partially used, counterfeit, or invalid tickets, leaving travelers stranded at park entrances with no way in.

Some booths advertise deep discounts but require you to attend high-pressure timeshare presentations or pay hidden fees before receiving your tickets. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department recommends that you purchase theme park tickets from official sources like Disney, Universal, or authorized resellers. Look for the authorized ticket seller logo on their website and call Disney to see if they are in fact an authorized vendor. But remember, If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.

And this is good to know. You’ll see on Disney’s website that tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. This isn’t Disney trying to be difficult. This is Florida law. See, it’s a misdemeanor crime for anyone to sell or transfer any used multi-day theme park or event ticket.

If the seller gives you a “script” or instructions on what to say if the ticket is questioned at the park entrance, it is not a valid ticket.

Let’s take a look at some actual ticket scams going on right now. Here on a website called Offerup, we see dozens of Orlando theme park tickets for sale. Many of these are sellers who are just waiting for you to come along to buy a phony discounted ticket. And they know the law - offering only 1-day tickets, because remember it’s a misdemeanor to resell multi-day tickets, and of course, they always say the tickets are new to throw off law enforcement - because it’s against the law to transfer used tickets.

Some even say they can prove the tickets are valid. But how? The Theme parks will not provide ticket information over the phone. The only way you will know for sure if a ticket is valid is by visiting Guest Relations. If it’s a Disney ticket, you can try to link it to your online account but the seller will surely want his money before you try doing that. Once you link it to your account, it cannot be undone.

When it comes to buying tickets for Orlando’s theme parks, just accept that they cost what they cost, there are no easy ticket deals out there.

#1 Free Orlando Vacation Scam

Since Orlando is a major vacation destination, many companies entice you with so-called free theme park tickets, free resort stays, or free gifts to attract tourists—only for travelers to realize they've been trapped in a high-pressure sales pitch.

Here’s how these scams work: First, the bait is set with ads, many on International Drive or Route 192. You may even get emails or phone calls. Now, to claim your “freebie,” you’re told you must attend a “short” 90-minute presentation for a timeshare purchase. But the presentation often turns into 3 or 4 hours of highly aggressive sales tactics, making it difficult to leave. If you plan to just keep saying no and persevere just to get your freebie, well, they are more than prepared for people like you. They return fire with a discount, a manager sales pitch, or a different offer, and they pressure you to sign. Otherwise, the free ticket offer is no longer valid. They are experts atr making you feel like you are not meeting the requirements to get your free tickets or whatever.

And the so-called “free” reward will likely come with hidden fees, blackout dates, or conditions that make it nearly impossible to redeem. Usually, they will ask you to pay the tax or resort fees in advance. This is illegal. Florida law stipulates that you cannot be charged anything other than the cost of postage or shipping.

Now, once they have your credit card, you won’t be able to leave, or perhaps storm out in a fury after they get your blood boiling. And the guy who took your card - oh, he just went to lunch, but he will be back in an hour.

Be wary if the company has no physical office - they like to use hotel conference rooms.  If the offer seems too good to be true—like free Disney tickets worth hundreds of dollars—proceed with caution.

You might encounter these scams in restaurants and hotel lobbies throughout Orlando or in roadside ads for “free Orlando vacations.” You may also see them at existing timeshare resorts near Disney World or Universal Orlando.

There’s an old Spanish saying that I learned from watching the People’s Court on TV that translates to, “The cheap comes out expensive.” Disney and Universal are expensive vacations, and scammers know that people will search for cheaper prices. You should work directly with a travel agent, Disney, or Universal. If you want to stay off-property to save money, Disney and Universal have preferred partner hotels.

Thanks for watching my video. If you’ve been scammed or sat through a time-share presentation, let us know in the comments below. And now, here comes another one of my videos that has been picked just for you.

As your space mission begins, you will be introduced to an all-new character—“Buddy.” This friendly robot, created by Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios, serves as a support-bot for the Star Command team.

Buddy will help prepare departing Space Rangers by checking systems on their Star Cruisers and providing encouragement.

Additionally, guests can practice their blaster aim with new interactive target features before launching into an epic battle against the Evil Emperor Zurg.

New Ride Vehicles

New lasers on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin at Disney World

The Star Cruisers themselves are getting a makeover! Inspired by Buzz Lightyear and Star Command, the new design incorporates vibrant colors and an upgraded aesthetic.

Each enhanced vehicle will now feature video monitors that display real-time scoring updates, making every mission even more engaging and competitive.

Introducing handheld blasters on each ride vehicle, designed to enhance your interactive experience. These innovative blasters provide better aim, enabling guests to score even more points during the ride. Ideal for younger riders, they promote active participation in the adventure.

Each blaster features an always-on laser, making it easier than ever to see where you're aiming, addressing a common concern among guests.

Additionally, the blasters are available in two vibrant colors per star cruiser, allowing for personal flair.

Enhanced lighting, sound, and vibration effects will guide players throughout their mission, ensuring a fully immersive experience. With these improvements, everyone can join in the fun and excitement more effectively than ever before.

Interactive Targets Enhancements for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin

In an exciting development, the static Z targets in Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin are set to receive a significant upgrade.

The new technology will allow these targets to react and light up upon being hit, adding a dynamic layer to the attraction.

This innovation not only enhances gameplay but also opens up opportunities for additional engagement and interaction as envisioned by the Imagineers.

Recently, the project reached a key milestone, as a team of Imagineers participated in a playtest of the updated targets, blasters, and new gameplay concepts.

Playtests are an essential component of the design process, providing invaluable insights into what works well and how the experience can be refined to ensure it meets the high standards guests expect.

To facilitate these enhancements, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will close temporarily in August and reopen in the following year.

Guests can look forward to an out-of-this-world experience when they return to join Buzz Lightyear and save the galaxy with innovative and interactive capabilities. Star Command, over and out!

Best Rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

I show you where you’ll find the resort view rooms, water view rooms and theme park view rooms. Plus the best rooms this resort.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of the most popular hotels at Walt Disney World. It even has unofficial fan clubs, how many hotels can say that?  It’s the only hotel at Walt Disney World with direct access to both monorail lines. But it’s a massive complex with multiple buildings and room types.

There are 3 sections that make up Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort: The hotel, which makes up the largest part of the complex, and two Disney Vacation Club sections:  the Villas and Bungalows, and Island Tower. I’ll get into Island Tower in a bit for now let’s focus on the main hotel part of the Polynesian.

Standard hotel room at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

There are 850 rooms located in 11 buildings or as Disney call them, longhouses. At 450 square feet, they are among the largest rooms at Disney World, and most rooms can sleep 5 people in 2 queen beds with 1 twin-size daybed.

There are suites here, though they book up fast, often by celebrities. Club-level rooms are standard hotel rooms in a private building with access to a hospitality lounge.

Child-size fold-down bed

Each of the 11 longhouses is accessed via exterior walking paths, but rooms are located off interior hallways. You can cut through other longhouses if you need air conditioning or shelter from a rain shower.

There are no hotel rooms located inside the main building.

See my video on the best rooms at Disney’s Polyneseian Resort

The Polynesian’s longhouses are 3 stories tall and have elevators.

One of the most important things to keep in mind at the Polynesian is that not all rooms have balconies. All ground-floor rooms have patios, and all 3rd-floor rooms have balconies, but many second-floor rooms do not have a balcony.

Instead, they have a sliding glass door and a railing. I never understood why Disney did this. I mean who wouldn’t want a balcony here?

Now in addition to standard hotel rooms, Disney’s Polynesian Resort also has studios available.

These studios are part of the Disney Vacation Club but they are often available to book even if you’re not a member.

Room rates are about the same as a standard room but my favorite perk is that they come with a kitchenette. I prefer the studios over a standard room, for the extra space and amenities.

Studios are also very close to the Epcot monorail. More on that in a moment.

Deluxe Studio at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney World hotel room prices are based on the view you have from your room. At the Polynesian, room categories are Resort View (formally Standard View), Water View, and Theme Park View.

Where You’ll Find Resort View Rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

map of disney's polynesian village resort showing where the resort view rooms are located

Resort View rooms are the most economical and have views of gardens, walkways, or possibly a peek at the monorail through the trees.

You won’t have any views of the lot here because it’s set far away from the hotel. Rarotonga has the most Resort View rooms, so there’s a very good chance you will get a room in this building. And that’s good thing, it’s very convenient.

Water View Room at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Map of water view rooms at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

Water View rooms at Disney mean just that. It might be a view of the pool, the marina, or even the Seven Seas Lagoon. You can make a request for the type of water view you’d like.

You’ll find Water View rooms in the Fiji longhouse, where rooms overlook either the Island Tower pool or the marina. Water View rooms in Tuvalu and Samoa, will definitely have a pool view. Hawaii, the CLub Level building has Water Views overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon. and Moorea - a DVC building comprised of Deluxe Studios also has water views facing the lagoon.

Theme Park View Rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Then there’s Theme Park View, which comes at a premium price. You’ll be able to see Magic Kingdom from your room and even more importantly, the nightly fireworks.

You won’t find too many Theme Park View rooms these days and they tend to sell out fast, despite the ridiculously high price.

You’ll find Theme Park views in 4 of the long houses:  Aotearoa, Tuvalu, Moorea, and Hawaii.

map of theme park view rooms at disney's polynesian village resort

If you stay at Club Level, you’ll be in the Hawaii Building where rooms come in 3 views: Theme Park View, Water View, and Resort View.

Water View rooms here will overlook the Seven Seas Lagoon and may have partial views of the fireworks.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a busy place because there is so much to do here.

So if you prefer a room that is located in a more quiet section of the resort, you have several great options here. And you don’t necessarily have to trade quiet for a room in a remote location.

To avoid people walking by, I recommend a third-floor room for extra quiet and privacy.

And in most cases, better views. Tuvalu theme park view rooms are among the best of the best, you get quiet, in a private area, and beautiful views of the Magic Kingdom.

Rarotonga has several rooms that offer peace and quiet, especially on the south side ground floor rooms, and all 3rd floor rooms, both sides of the longhouse.

These rooms are in the Resort View category so they are economically priced too. In the deluxe studios section,  Tokelow, third-floor rooms facing east overlook gardens and they are in a nice quiet area.

Also, Resort View rooms in Pago Pago and Moorea, are also quiet areas of the resort.

Especially noisy rooms, just for fun,  are the Moorea Water Views - because you’ll have a Magic Kingdom ferry passing through which makes a lot of noise.

This is true for the Bungalows numbered 7014 through 7020 - the ferry comes so close, that passengers will talk to you if you’re outside on your balcony.

Imagine spending $3500 per night in a Bungalow and having zero privacy. Samoa rooms in the water view category are super close to both pools, but if you’re on the east side facing the volcano pool, you’ll hear a DJ playing music all afternoon.

It can be so loud that you will have to turn up the volume of your TV in the room.

Now I said earlier that Polynesian is the most convenient hotel at Walt Disney World, if you agree after this segment, tap that like button to let us know.

Let me give you some examples. See, The Poly is all about location. It’s rich in transportation resources. You can take a boat to Magic Kingdom, buses to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs, and of course the monorails.

But what makes the Polynesian unique is that you can board the Magic Kingdom monorail from the lobby, known as the Great Ceremonial House, and you can walk over to the Ticket and Transportation Center to board the Epcot monorail. In contrast.

This is the only Disney hotel with this benefit. And there is a walking path to the Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian, but I wouldn’t recommend it - it’s very far. It’s great if you’re a runner though.

Let’s see where the best rooms are located that are close to transportation.

If you want to be close to the Epcot monorail line, you’ll want to book a Deluxe Studio, not in the Island Tower, but a traditional studio. You’ll be in Moorea, Tokelau, or Pago Pago.

They are a 5-minute walk to the monorail station.

If you want to be close to the Magic Kingdom in terms of transportation, I recommend booking a Resort View room and requesting a third-floor or ground-floor room in Rarotonga.

This longhouse is just steps away from the Great Ceremonial house - you remember that’s the lobby, right? Now, rooms in Niue are also close to the Magic Kingdom Monorail and the bus depot.

Aotearoa is also close to Magic Kingdom via the water taxi. The water taxi can actually be faster if you see that a boat is just arriving.

Rarotonga and Nuie are among the most requested buildings at this resort because of their convenient location.   l share my absolute favorite room at the Polynesian and where you can find it coming up. Hint, it’s in Rarotonga.

If you’re staying at the Polynesian to treat yourself and your family, you may want a room with a great view.

The Theme Park View rooms here are among the best Disney World has to offer. The best views are located m  in the Hawaii building, which is Club Level.

Theme Park View rooms in Tuvulu offer amazing views of Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Third-floor rooms have slightly better views, but ground-floor rooms have beachfront patios. The issue with Tuvulu though is that you’re very far from the Epcot monorail station.

What if you want a great view but in a Water View category? I like water-view rooms in Aotearoa because you could get lucky here and get a partial view of the Magic Kingdom.

Third-floor rooms in Samoa facing east will overlook the quiet pool. Ground floor rooms on the west side will be very close to the volcano pool. You can even walk out your sliding glass door to the pool.

You’ll notice that I’m not providing specific room numbers here and that’s because it doesn’t matter. The odds of you making a request for a specific room and actually getting it, are slim to none.

See, the Cast Members who assign rooms have this giant puzzle to solve every day - like a game of Tetris. If you start hitting them up for room 3601, that could set off a chain reaction of having to move other guests around - who might also have room requests etc.

The key to making room requests is to keep them general. Don’t say you need a palm tree outside your room. They’re not going to talk a walk and see where the trees are located.

Make it easy and realistic for the Cast Members so they can honor your request. So say third floor in Rarotonga facing the pool.

That’s easy. Also don’t book a resort view room and request a view of the fireworks. That request has zero chance of being honored because Disney charges for that tye of view.

In December 2024, Disney opened Island Tower, a Disney Vacation Club property, the second installment of DVC rooms at the Polynesian. Island Tower is 10 stories high and has a few different room categories to choose from: duo studios, which are super tiny rooms, deluxe studios, and 1 and 2-bedroom villas.

But as a tower with only two sides of rooms, you’d think there would be just two view categories. Like the tower at Coronado Springs - there’s Water View on one side of the tower and Resort View on the other. Here at Island Tower, there are four!

Four room view categories for a 2-sided tower. We have Resort View, Water View, Preferred View,  and Theme Park View.

So let’s break it down. Resort View: a nice way of saying parking lot views. Preferred View overlooks either the pool or the golf course, Premium View really means water or lagoon view,

Theme Park View, obviously has views of Magic Kingdom and fireworks.

I want to go back to Preferred View for a second though because there are two different views here. If your room is on the east side of the hallway, you’ll have a view of the Hawaiian-themed pool and other areas of the hotel, you’ll probably be very happy about that.

But if you get assigned a room on the west side of the hallway, you’ll overlook the parking lot, a busy roadway, and a distant golf course.

There is nothing tropical or Hawaiian about that view.

And Theme Park View rooms will have views of the Seven Seas LAgoon and Magic Kingdom.

Best rooms here would be on a higher floor to avoid lower obstructions like trees. You’ll also be ablet to the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night.

I think I should point out that many 2nd-floor Resort View and Preferred View  rooms are level with the monorail beam, so you’ll have monorails (and passengers) going by your room every few minutes.

This means you’ll have very little privacy.

If views are important to you, you need to book a Theme Park View or a Premium View room at Island Tower. These rooms offer spectacular views and I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed here.

Disney puts a lot of emphasis on room locations and views, more so than other destinations. It’s a Disney thing I guess. Let me know what comments and questions you have about Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

I’ll be following along in the comments ready to help you.

I recently made a video a on Disney’s Beach Club Resort rooms. I show you the best rooms and the rooms to avoid,

14 New Orlando Vacation Experiences in 2025!

What’s New, What’s Next for Orlando Vacations in 2025

What’s New, What’s Next in Orlando

I'm excited to announce that Orlando, the theme park capital of the world and the top visited destination in the U.S., will debut several new experiences in 2025. This includes Orlando's first new theme park in over 25 years. ere’s what I’m looking forward to the most in 2025

#14

Here at EPCOT, Test Track will return after a major revamp, featuring new scenes that highlight technological advancements in the auto industry. The 3.0 version of this ride will celebrate automotive innovation through the ages. I hear the queue will be an experience in itself, with six exhibits showcasing vehicles and the people who make them. The ride itself will be amazing too, with new scenes highlighting the latest technology and paying tribute to the original ride of the 1980s, World of Motion. I can't wait to have an updated version of this ride, an update was needed, glad Disney noticed that too.

#13

This summer, Disney's Hollywood Studios guests can enjoy two brand-new stage shows: "The Little Mermaid—A Musical Adventure" and Unfairly Ever After. The Litte Mermaid will feature innovative new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design. The show is expected to debut around the same time that MuppetVision 3D and Muppet Courtyard closes on the other side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The new show features all-new physical and digital sets, a cast of puppets, live performers, and stunning visuals. Expect to see digital puppets transform into real ones right before your eyes. I think we can expect that The Little Mermaid–A Musical Adventure will open in late spring 2025.

And Unfairly Ever After at Disey’s Hollywood Studios replaces the defunct Lightning McQueen Show. Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent will take the stage to show the audience why they are the most misunderstood villains. The audience will then decide who is the most misunderstood in a finale with dozens of famous evildoers. This new show is expected to open in late spring or early summer 2025.

#12

The Walt Disney World Swan rooms have been completely remodeled and the convention and meeting spaces here have also been refreshed. The updated guest rooms feature a modern design with new furnishings, fixtures, and artwork. Swans rooms still have 2 queen beds while the Dolphin rooms have 2 double beds.

The meeting spaces have also been upgraded with state-of-the-art event technology and a contemporary design. The resort now offers special rates for groups booking meetings and events in the newly renovated spaces. This is worth noting because Disney no longer offers group and meeting discounts on its hotel rooms. Whether you need 10 or 80 rooms, you pay the rack rate for Dinsey rooms. I think Disney is the only destination that doesn’t give volume discounts on hotel rooms. Let’s see how this works for them with the Swan, Dolphin, and uNiversal hotels making a play for Orlando’s convention business.  r

#11

The Disney Treasure, a new ship from Disney Cruise Line, just started sailing from Port Canaveral. It joins the Disney Wish, another new Disney ship, as well as Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas (more about this coming up in a moment) and Utopia of the Seas, making Orlando the number one family cruise port in the world. The demand for family cruising has increased dramatically, and these new ships offer families even more options for cruising from Orlando.

The Disney Treasure does 7-night Caribbean itineraries. You’ll find 3 amazing lounges based on the Haunted Mansion, 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas, and Jungle Cruise from the Disney theme parks. There’s plenty of live entertainment like Beauty and the Beast, and exclusively on the Disney Treasure, The Tale of Moana, a Broadway-style musical that celebrates the courage to follow your dreams. There’s also a Coco-themed theatrical dining experience featuring the flavors of Mexico.

#10

The new Disney Vacation Club lounge at Magic Kingdom will offer comfortable seating, complimentary soft drinks with Coke Freestyle machines, Wi-Fi, and charging cords. There will be a children’s entertainment area and on-site Member Services. Located in Frontierland in the former Shootin' Arcade building, the lounge will require a valid DVC Membership Card and photo ID for access, and Members can bring up to four guests. As a DVC Member myself, I’m looking forward to this, but as a Disney Parks fan, my son and I miss the Shootin’ arcade.

#9

We can look forward to not 1 but 2 new lounges coming to the Disney theme parks this year.

This elegant lounge will be a tribute to the rich history of Spaceship Earth and EPCOT. Guests can enjoy sweeping views of the World Celebration Gardens. As the sun sets and the park transforms for the evening, the lounge becomes the perfect setting to experience the nightly fireworks from an entirely new angle.

This space used to be the corporate lounge that was for the exclusive use of those who worked for the attraction’s sponsors like AT&T and Siemens. As a huge EPCOT fan, I’m very excited. I've always wanted to go up there and see what it’s like. Construction just started a few weeks ago, and no opening date has been revealed.

Construction on a new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is already underway at Magic Kingdom Park. Set to open in Adventureland in late 2025, this lively lounge will cater to pirates of all ages, featuring a delightful assortment of drinks and food, along with some intriguing and enchanting surprises waiting to be discovered!

#8

Blue Man Group returns to Orlando after being booted from Universal. The new Orlando show has moved to ICON Park, on International Drive, just down the road from Universal and about 15 minutes away from Disney World. This new Blue Man Orlando show will feature a distinctive blend of art, high-energy live music, comedy, and non-verbal communication. There will be new scenes and classic crowd favorites. Starting April 2025, Blue Man Group performances will take place Tuesday through Sunday and will be dark on Mondays.  Evening and matinee performances will take place one to two times daily. This is a win for ICON Park which is doing a great job at competing with three mega theme parks, in a small amount of space.

 #7

Disney began replacing the popular Ft Wilderness Cabins at Disney’s Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort with new, modern luxury cabins - also part of the Disney Vacation Club. These new cabins are nice inside but some people feel they Disney didn’t fully understand what Fort Wilderness is all about. Is it about luxury cabins with modern comforts or rustic retreats in old-school Florida? Let me know what you think in the comments below. All of the cabins will be upgraded by spring of 2025.

#6

Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, an addition to the Disney Vacation Club, opened in December 2024. This new tower offers a range of accommodations, including villas equipped with kitchens and patios. There’s a new restaurant offering beautiful views of the Severn Seas Lagoon and Cinderella Castle. Island Tower is not just for DVC members, a set number of rooms are available for non-members too. Rooms come in tiny studios with a Murphy bed to up to 2-bedroom penthouse villas. I have more information in my Video on Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, I’ll link to this video in the description.

#5

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers opened in October at Disney's BoardWalk to mixed reviews. This restaurant and bakery, which opened in October 2022, offers cakes, cookies, pastries, and sandwiches. The shop also features an afternoon tea service, where guests can enjoy a selection of teas, finger sandwiches, and desserts. Aside from the astronomical prices, like the $12 I paid for a coffee, I do think there’s an elevated level of service here and it has a beautiful atmosphere.

#4

Magic Kingdom Park will debut the "Disney Starlight" nighttime parade this summer. It will feature illuminated floats inspired by classic Disney films like "Cinderella," "Beauty and the Beast," and "The Little Mermaid," Elaborately costumed performers will dance and interact with guests to catchy music. The grand finale, starring Mickey Mouse and other beloved characters, will create a magical ending to a day at the park. On one hand, I’m not looking forward to yet another event that makes it impossible to walk up or down Main Street USA, but it is kind of nice to have a nighttime parade back in Magic Kingdom.

#3

Not to be outdone by the theme parks, Royal Caribbean will homeport Star of the Seas in Orlando’s Port Canaveral. Star of the Seas will be the largest cruise ship in the world, even larger than her sister ship, Icon of the Seas. Coming in August 2025, this mega-ship will offer 7-night Caribbean itineraries that include stops at Perfect Day at Coco Cay, the brand’s private island.

Star is set to bring eight neighborhoods that are destinations in themselves, The highlights include Thrill Island – with Category 6, the first waterpark at sea when

introduced on Icon, and its six record-breaking waterslides, Surfside – The neighborhood designed for young families is where they can stay and play all-day

Together The Hideaway – Hidden 135 feet above the ocean, is an adults-only spot that combines all the good vibes of beach club scenes around the world with a suspended infinity pool.

#2

Universal Orlando Resort is expanding its hotel options with the addition of three new hotels: Universal Stella Nova Resort, Universal Terra Luna Resort, and Universal Helios Grand Hotel. These resorts will add a combined total of 1,500 guest rooms to the Universal Orlando Resort complex.

Stella Luna and Terra Nova are priced as Prime Value hotels so around $200 per night.

A standout feature of these new accommodations is the inclusion of 750 rooms equipped with two queen beds, catering to families and groups. Guests can also enjoy diverse dining options, resort-style pools, game rooms, and other amenities.

Universal’s Helios Grand Hotel, opening May 22, 2025, at Epic Universe, offers exclusive perks for guests. A dedicated park entrance provides direct access to Epic Universe, while early park admission lets guests enter select attractions an hour before the public. The hotel features luxurious dining options, including Bar Helios, a rooftop lounge with panoramic views, and a resort-style pool that includes underwater speakers, a terraced deck, cabanas, and a hot tub. Helios Grand Hotel is a Universal Signature Hotel, with rates starting around $500 per night.

#1

Universal Orlando Resort's Universal Epic Universe will open May 22, featuring over 50 attractions across five immersive worlds: Celestial Park immerses guests in living gardens and architecture inspired by astronomy and mythology. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Ministry of Magic blends Wizarding Paris from Fantastic Beasts with the British Ministry of Magic.

Super Nintendo World features the iconic green pipes alongside beloved characters Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong. How to Train Your Dragon-Isle of Berk offers a vibrant Viking realm inspired by the hit film franchise. Dark Universe reveals Dr. Victoria Frankenstein's experiments and a shadowy realm where monsters roam amid myth and mystery.

Is it just me or do you see fierce competition forming between Disney, Universal, and Royal Caribbean? Who has the best game plan for 2025? I’d love to know who you think will win out. Use the comments below to get the conversation started.

I recently made a video about Epic Universe and how it’s about to take over Orlando. Check that out now the link is coming up. And check out my website, OrlandoParksGuy.com for more vacation planning help, I’ll you there.

10 NEW Reasons to Visit DISNEY WORLD in 2025

2025 is going to be a big year in Orlando. Several new experiences coming to Disney World plus the opening of Universal’s Epic Universe!

I think the big story in Orlando in 2025 will be the opening of Universal’s Epic Universe Theme Park. Still, not to be outdone, Disney World will also have a lineup of new experiences for vacationers.

Here’s my list of 10 reasons to visit Disney World in 2025.

Visit Disney World in 2025

10. FREE Disney water park admission on your arrival day

Planning your next Disney vacation just became even more exciting! Walt Disney World has unveiled new opportunities for savings on tickets and accommodations for 2025, making it an ideal time to turn Disney dreams into reality.

Beginning in 2025, guests who check into one of the Disney Resorts Collection hotels will receive free admission to a Disney Water Park on their arrival day.

Disney has not operated both water parks at the same time in the past few years, so you’ll have access to either Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon -or- Disney’s Blizzard Beach. Currently, Blizzard Beach is operating and based on historical data, I would expect it to remain open until the spring of 2025. At that time, Typhoon Lagoon will likely take over for the summer.

9. Disney After Hours Return

Guests can look forward to experiencing Disney After Hours during their stay! Yes, the popular after-dark event is returning in 2025! Enjoy complimentary snacks like ice cream, popcorn, and select bottled beverages with your ticket.

This after-hours event adds an extra special touch to a Walt Disney World vacation! Ticket prices for Disney After Hours start around $157 per person but can go as high as $185 depending on the park and date selected.

With limited attendance, After Hours offers a unique opportunity to explore iconic rides and stunning entertainment in a more intimate setting. I recommend you purchase tickets well in advance as these events usually sell out.

8. Last Chance to Ride Dinosaur at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Be sure to ride DINOSAUR one last time before it goes extinct. Disney has not provided a specific closing date but I expect the ride will close in late 2025. Disney will be closing this thrilling ride to make way for the new Tropical Americas land. I think this will become the new Indiana Jones ride when Tropical Americas opens in 2027.

7. Zootopia: Better Zoogether!

Now this one is a mystery to me. Disney says that a new 3D show will replace It’s Tough to be a Bug show located inside the Tree of Life.

According to Disney, Zootopia: Better Zoogether the all-new 4D production will be arriving in the winter of 2025. To me, that would be sometime in January, February, or March. But I see It’s Tough to be a Bug on the operating calendar for most of the winter. So, does Disney really mean fall of 2025? Technically winter begins again on December22, 2025. So could it mean they are going to open the attraction during the last week of 2025?

I reached out to Disney for clarification but they only reiterated “winter of 2025.”

Disney is also promoting Zootopia: Better Zoogether as a 2025 coming attraction. So it would be unlikely that it will come in late 2025.

But either way, we can expect to see Zooptopia at some point in the coming year. Now is a good time to see It’s Tough to be a Bug one last time.

See my video on 7 rides that will be closing in 2025

Pirates of the Caribbean bar coming to magic kingdom

6. Pirates of the Caribbean Tavern

Prepare yourselves for an exciting adventure as aspiring pirates and buccaneers are welcome to join a vibrant crew at a new tavern inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean.

Set to open in Adventureland in late 2025, this lively lounge will cater to pirates of all ages, featuring a delightful assortment of drinks and food, along with some intriguing and enchanting surprises waiting to be discovered!

5. Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away

A night-time parade will once again light up Magic Kingdom Park! “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away" is coming in the summer of 2025. This will make trying to leave Magic Kingdom interesting, but I’m still exited about it.

Guests will experience an enchanting transformation of their favorite characters during this parade, where beloved figures from both classic and contemporary Walt Disney Animation Studios films come to life in a whole new light.

From iconic classics like "Peter Pan" to modern favorites such as "Encanto," "Frozen," and "Moana," the vibrant lights will create a spectacular display, turning the night into a mesmerizing canvas of glowing colors that surrounds everyone in attendance.

As the parade unfolds, each character and float will shine brightly, offering guests a unique and immersive experience filled with joy and nostalgia.

4. Test Track presented by General Motors

Test Track will reopen in late summer of 2025. Walt Disney Imagineering has been working with General Motors on an all-new storyline. Disney says this new version will pay tribute to the original attraction, World of Motion.

I’m hearing that this project is ahead of schedule so we might see Cast Member and Passholder previews coming in early in 2025.

3. Spaceship Earth Lounge

This elegant lounge pays homage to the rich history of Spaceship Earth and EPCOT, creating a unique space that celebrates the legacy of this iconic landmark. The carefully curated culinary offerings from Disney’s chefs enhance the sophisticated ambiance, providing guests with exquisite flavors that reflect the essence of the park.

Guests can enjoy sweeping views of the World Celebration Gardens, offering a breathtaking perspective of EPCOT's vibrant landscapes and attractions. As the sun sets and the park transforms for the evening, the lounge becomes the perfect setting to experience the nightly fireworks from an entirely new angle.

This space was the former home to the employee corporate lounge that was for the exclusive use of those who worked for the attraction’s sponsors like AT&T and Siemens. I’m excited to see it, I’ve always wanted to go up there.

Little mermaid show at disneys hollywood studios

2. The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure

“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” will open this summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. “The Little Mermaid” will once again come to life on stage! Disney says there will be all-new sets, a vibrant cast of puppets, live performers, and stunning visuals to take us under the sea.

1. Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After

Prepare for an enchanting experience as beloved villains take center stage in this delightfully wicked show at Magic Kingdom. Guests will find themselves entranced as Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent break through the glass to deliver live performances that blend witty humor with a mischievous charm.

As the storyline unfolds, the audience can expect surprises at every turn. Magical mirrors create an atmosphere of intrigue by revealing glimpses of other notorious evildoers eager to join in the fun.

With a thrilling mix of captivating storytelling and engaging performances, this show promises to keep guests on their toes, ensuring an exciting outing for fans of all ages.

Whether you're a lifelong Disney aficionado or just looking for a whimsical twist, this event highlights the enchanting power of imagination and the allure of the dark side.

Disney Treasure Arrives in Port Canaveral

Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Treasure, has arrived in Port Canaveral, Florida. Where she will sail, and when in my article…

Disney Cruise Line’s new ship, Disney Treasure, docked in its home port of Port Canaveral yesterday morning for the very first time. Following its initial visit to Florida, the ship will sail to New York City for a special christening celebration in the evening of Nov. 19, which will be streamed live on the Disney Parks Blog.

The Disney Treasure, themed to adventure and inspired by Walt Disney’s love of exploration, will immerse families in captivating stories from beloved Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and—for the first time onboard Disney Cruise Line—Disney Parks adventures.

Spaces on board the Disney Treasure will invite guests to venture to the imaginary town square of Santa Cecilia in the world’s first theatrical dining experience themed to the Disney and Pixar film, “Coco;” indulge in themed cocktails at venues inspired by the iconic Disney Parks attractions, the Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise and “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea;” hop into a sweet shop reminiscent of Disney’s “Zootopia;” and embark on a tale across land and sea during the Broadway-style production, “Disney The Tale of Moana.”

Disney Treasure will embark on its maiden voyage, a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise, out of Port Canaveral on Dec. 21, followed by an inaugural season of seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral.

7 Disney World Attractions Closing in 2025

Disney is preparing for major refurbishments and new ideas, but some attractions will need to close.

Disney World announced multiple, significant projects that will cause some areas of the theme parks to close, and some will even close forever. My name is Darren from OrlandoParksGuy.com, and I’m sharing my list of 7 must-see Disney World attractions before they close. And stay tuned to the end, because I’ll share some new experiences coming in 2025 that you won’t want to miss.

Planning a Disney Vacation in 2025? Watch my video:

7

TriceraTop Spin is a fun, family-friendly attraction in Disney's Animal Kingdom Park, specifically in the DinoLand U.S.A. area. The ride features colorful, spinning dinosaur-themed vehicles that resemble Triceratops. Guests can control the height of their ride by raising or lowering the dinosaur's head, adding a bit of interactivity to the experience.

The attraction is designed for younger guests, making it a great choice for families. As you spin around, you'll enjoy views of DinoLand and experience a playful atmosphere filled with dino-themed decor. Triceratop Spin is sometimes criticized for being an off-the-shelf ride, and a little unremarkable for a Disney Park. But kids think fun.

Now that i’ve told you how good it is, I need to also tell you that the last day to ride Triceratop Spin will be January 12, 2025, as Disney begins a phased closure of DinoLand USA. DinoLand will be transformed into a Tropical Americas-themed land featuring attractions based on Encanto and Indiana Jones. I am a huge fan of Indiana Jones, so I’m ready to say goodbye to DinoLand. DinoLand to me

Just like Triceratop Spin, much of the DinoRama Area of DinoLand USA will start to close beginning January 13th. If you‘ve been to DinoLand USA, you will remember the carnival-style games - here they are called Fossil Fun Games, which never really impressed me. I get that this is supposed to be a cheap roadside carnival - but it comes across as a cheap, roadside carnival built by Disney.

To me, DinoLand never really matched the beauty and authenticity of the rest of Animal Kingdom Park. The idea of a roadside carnival is funny, but I think most guests didn’t get that - it looked more like Disney ran out of money over here and never finished the park.

But that’s all going to change soon. Oh, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will also close. I actually like this gift shop, so I’m a little sorry to see it go. It’s out of the way so it’s never crowded and they have merch that can’t be found in other areas of the park. Your last day to shop here is January 12, 2025.

5

In my video on Disney’s Darkest Rides, you know that I am terrified of bugs. So I won’t miss it’s tough to be a bug at Animal Kingdom. To me, it’s one of the most frightening rides at Disney World and I actually do not care for it. I mean Spiders drop from the ceiling, you’re blasted with bug spray, and your seat comes alive as insects make their way across the theater. That being said, it really is a clever attraction with an amazing queue, offering up-close views of the Tree of Life and even some hilarious moments like the Broadway show posters in the lobby. Beauty and Bees - that’s funny!

While we don’t have a closing date for It’s Tough to be a Bug, Insiders tell me that it will likely close in the fall of 2025. The Tree of Life Theater will reopen with a Zootopia-themed show likely around the same time as Zooptopia 2 hits theaters. But without any official news from Disney on a closing date, I would see it’s tough to be a bug one last time, sooner rather than later.

Do you want more travel planning tips for Disney World, Universal Orlando Disney Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean? Then I think you need to subscribe to my channel right now. Go ahead, i’ll wait.

4

There’s one more Animal Kingdom closure:  DINOSAUR. While Disney hasn’t shared an official closing date, we do know that it will not be part of the initial closures coming to DinoLand USA. So while Triceratops Spin and DinoRama close, DINOSAUR will remain open - at least for now.

Indiana Jones will replace DINOSAUR which makes sense beause. Disneyland Resort in California and Tokyo Disneyland have copies of the DINOSAUR ride track but with an Indiana Jones overlay instead. However, insiders tell me that when DINOSAUR is replaced with Indiana Jones, it will not be a copy of any previous version of the ride.

In this new attraction, Indiana Jones stumbles upon a Maya temple, and of course, he takes us inside to do some exploring. Apparently, there may be some kind of creature hidden deep inside, and probably snakes too.

Disney has shared that Tropical Americas will open sometime in 2027. If I had to guess, based on other attraction rethemes like Maelstrom and Tiana, I think DINOSAUR will probably close for good in the spring or summer of 2025

3

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom won’t be closing permanently but it will do down for a lengthy refurbishment starting January 6, 2025 and lasting through 2026. This is going to be a long time! Insiders say that the closure will solve two problems. The first is that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is long overdue for a major refurbishment, likely to include new ride vehicles, track and scenery. Disney has said that when Big Thunder reopens in 2026, it will also have new special effects. Big Thunder at Disneyland underwent major refurbishment and it really came out smooth, less jerky and it felt much faster.

The other reason Big Thunder is likely closing is to allow for construction to begin on the new Cars land and Villians land.

And that brings me to…

2

The Walt Disney World Railroad closed for 4 years during the construction of Tron Light Cycle Run at Magic Kingdom and it appears the trains will need to stop once again. Disney hasn’t announced any closures for the railroad but in construction permits filed, it appears the railroad tracks will pass through a staging area that will be used for the construction of Cars Land and Vilians Land.

While Disney hasn’t said to much about the exact location of Cars and Vilians Lands, concept art suggests that the railroad tracks would have to be rerouted.

It’s my guess that the railroad will close at some point in 2025 so I would ride it while you can just in case.

1

Disney confirmed that the new Cars Land will be built on top of Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America. Details are still vague on Vilians Land but according to concept art, it appears that it will incorporate at least some of Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island with Cars Land taking the rest. I have to say that if it’s anything like Cars Land at the Disneyland Resort in California, I think that will be a huge improvement. The scenery surrounding Cars Land is one of the most beautiful works of art in any Disney theme park, especially at night.

Disney has not confirmed a closing date for Tom Sawyer Island or the Liberty Bell Riverboat, but I would be very surprised if these attractions make it through 2025. And when they do close, it will be a permanent

So now is the time to take the raft over to Tom Sawer, explore the tunnels and windmill, and make your way out to Fort Langhorn. And you should ride the Liberty Bell Riverboat and check out the Rivers of America one last time. I expect a closing date will be announced soon.

Now at the top of the article, I mentioned that there are a few new attractions to look forward to in 2025.

A few that I am most looking forward to are the Pirates of the Caribbean theme lounge, remember it wasn’t that long ago that alcohol wasn’t allowed at Magic Kingdom, so this will be a big change. Plus a new lounge is coming to Spaceship Earth that will have amazing views of Epcot.

Speaking of Epcot, the new Test Track should come out of refurbishment with a new theme - one that pays tribute to the original World of Motion attraction. Meliiuimun Falcon Smugglers Run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will get a brand new Mandolorian adventure.

A new nighttime parade called Disney Starlight will waltz down Main Street at Magic Kingdom, expected to open in the summer of 2025. Disney hinted that this new parade is inspired by the Main Street Electrical Parade and will feature Disney characters from “Peter Pan,” “Encanto,” “Frozen,” and more.

Which attraction are you going to miss the most? Which rides do you think need a major refurbishment or need to be replaced? I have one major ride that comes to mind. See it in the comments, I’ll be following along.

Earlier I mentioned Cars Land at  Disney’s California Adventure Park in California and, I recently made a video on why fans of Disney World will love exploring Disneyland in California. Is Disneyland better than Magic Kingdom?  They have Mr Toads wild ride, just sayin. Come see that video now - I’ll see you there.
