There are 2 sections to Port Orleans Riverside, Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou. While it’s not possible to select which section your room is located in, I am able to note requests on your reservation.
The biggest difference between the two sections is the theme. Magnolia Bend represents the manor houses of the deep south with manicured lawns and plantings. Buildings have 2 and 3 stories with exterior corridors.
Alligator Bayou is made up of 2-story, rustic lodges with shady gardens and pathways.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort is a charming, New England-style hotel located just outside of Epcot. The pools, lagoons and spas of Stormalong Bay make this property unique. Sharing many amenities with its more formal sister, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort is within walking distance to Epcot, Disney Skyliner and a convenient boat ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Best Rooms at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Most standard hotel rooms are 380 square feet and come with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed.
There are a handful of rooms that do not have the sofa bed.
If you need the sofa bed, let me know so I can enter a request for you. Requests are not guaranteed but Disney does try hard to honor this one in particular.
If you have a party of 5, you will almost certainly get a room with a sofa bed automatically, but I would still note it on the reservation.
Rooms have full size balconies, patios (ground level) or what I call mini-balconies. These are balconies that have just enough room for one person to stand on. If you prefer a full-size balcony or a patio, this should be entered as a request. (Requests cannot be guaranteed).

Beginning July 1, 2024, you can stay in one of the new cabins plus enjoy one of 2 great Walt Disney World offers.
UPDATE: Disney has modified the booking dates for the new cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
The new Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness can be booked:
March 20 – Passholders get a head start on bookings
March 21 - All guests can make reservations
The new cabins will be part of the Disney Vacation Club but will also be available to to guests who are not DVC members.
Early booking of the new cabins is highly recommended as DVC members will likely take the lion’s share of the availability.
Cabins will sleep up to 6 guests and some will be designated as dog-friendly cabins. As with other pet-friendly rooms at Walt Disney World, guests traveling without pets will never be assigned a room that is designated as pet-friendly.
What’s included in your cabin
The new cabins promise to have a spacious living area and a dining nook.
The kitchen will have:
Full-size refrigerator

How much do the Cabins at Fort Wilderness Cost?
The new cabins start at around$570 during the spring break season (February through April), $470 per night average in the summer, about $515 per night in early fall, and about $530 per night during the holiday season
The cabins are extremely popular and can be difficult to get. Early booking is highly recommended.
Enjoy a Unique Disney Resort!
I have stayed at every Disney World hotel and while they are all fantastic, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is definitely on my list of favorites.
Oddly enough one of my favorite things to do is rent a golf cart and drive around aimlessly, just for fun. Kids love it too. And if you visit during Halloween and Christmas, many of the campers set up elaborate displays that rival the ones you see inside the parks.
There are 750 acres in all so there’s plenty of space to rent bicycles, go for a horseback ride (rental horses are provided, lol), and even take in one of the best and longest-running shows at Disney World, Hoop Dee Doo Review.
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue features dancing, singing, and comedy performed by the Pioneer Hall Players and a feast that includes fried chicken and barbecued pork ribs. It’s a
Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern
Trail’s End is one of my favorite places to go for dinner in all of Orlando. It’s no longer a buffet, today it’s a convenient quick-service location serving up rustic fare like fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese.
But they also serve custom coffees and an assortment of grab-and-go items.
Book Now!
Book your Cabin at Disney’s Fort Wilderness starting July 1, 2024, and you can get the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan for free.
You just need to be a Disney+ subscriber to get the offer. Yes, it’s worth it to join to get the deal.

Booking Dates for the New Fort Wilderness Cabins
The most unique (and great) vacation experience at Walt Disney World
The new Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness now have a booking date!
March 20 – Passholders get a head start on bookings
March 21 - All guests can make reservations
The first loop of cabins will open on July 1, with more loops opening throughout the year.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is one of the best experiences I’ve had at Walt Disney World.
It’s a great vacation, especially if you have been to Disney World previously and would like to have a different Disney experience for your next vacation.
Did you know there are over 90 horses that call Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort home? And you can visit them at Disney’s Tri-Circle-D Ranch, located at the resort.
If you’ve wanted to go horseback riding, this is where you can do it! Disney Cast Members will take you on a guided adventure along the riding trails of Fort Wilderness Resort - some go way back into the woods of Disney World and can only be reached by horseback.
Pony and wagon rides are also available.
Outdoor Recreational Activities
There’s no better way to immerse in the wilderness than with one of the many outdoor activities available.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort offers kayak and canoe rentals, and guided bass fishing.
The Fort Wilderness Archery Experience is a family-friendly archery class. I highly recommend making reservations ahead of time as it’s extremely popular.
Beyond these activities, there are also playgrounds, pools, and sports facilities - a little something for everyone to create their own adventure
Looking for s'more fun? Join everyone's favorite chipmunks, Chip 'n' Dale, and a singing cowboy for an evening of country songs, roasted marshmallows, and a Disney movie under the stars at Chip' n' Dale's Campfire Sing-Along.
This nightly celebration is a great way to enjoy some fresh air with family after a day of play in the theme parks* – plus it is included for all guests staying at the resort.
You can purchase a s'mores kit from the Chuckwagon Snack Bar or bring their own marshmallows and sticks.

AVERAGE NIGHTLY RATES FOR DISNEY WORLD HOTELS
What the Walt Disney World Resort hotels cost per night, on average.
There are several rate seasons that Disney World uses to determine the nightly cost of a hotel room, mostly based on demand.
It’s important to know that Disney World is price-controlled. Whether you book it yourself, through a travel agent, or even a travel wholesaler, the price is going to be the same for everyone.
Don’t stress over nightly rates
Don’t drive yourself crazy over prices. In the end, Mickey gets your money. And that’s ok! We want him to show us a good time.
Think big picture when it comes to Disney packages
There are so many variables that affect the price.
For example, you might find a week with a lower hotel rate, but ticket prices cost more, or airfare is higher. It seems that if one vacation component is cheaper, the other costs more.
Instead, do this…
Decide on the time of year that you want to go. Traveling when you want has more value. If you don’t like heat and humidity, don’t come in August just to save a little money. That would be a poor value because you’re going to be uncomfortable.
If price is your primary concern, avoid holidays and spring break.
If your package is coming out too high, try a different hotel category or try a Disney Good Neighbor [off-property] hotel.

Things to do at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort
A unique vacation experience awaits at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
For too long I overlooked this resort opting for places like Pop Century, Port Orleans, and the Polynesian but Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is a classic Disney World vacation experience and I’m so glad I finally gave it a try. Actually, it’s one of the best Disney World vacations I’ve planned and I am not an outdoorsman or a camper.
Even if you’re a hotel buff like me, I say that’s all the more reason to try Fort Wilderness. I promise that you’ll have a uniquely Disney World experience here.
In this article, I’ll share some of my favorite things to do while at “Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.”
If you are like me and don’t have an RV it’s no problem, there are a number of places that rent them, even here in Orlando. A quick Google search will bring up quite a few. They can even deliver them to Fort Wilderness for you and set them up.
Or you can do what I did and book a Wilderness Cabin.
First of all, these cabins are very cozy inside but also spacious, and have the ability to accommodate up to 6 guests.
They have a living room, a kitchen with full-size appliances, a separate bedroom with a queen bed, and bunk beds.
But my favorite feature is the BBQ grill on the deck and the picnic table.
There’s something about being able to relax in your own vacation home right on Disney property, it’s absolutely wonderful.
Sure Disney’s hotels are wonderful, but you’re limited to 2 queen beds and maybe a balcony. But in a cabin, you have your piece of land to call home.
While the theme parks are a blast, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking a little time off and having a BBQ and maybe moseying over to the evening sing-a-long with Chip ‘n’ Dale. You’ll definitely want to plan an evening or two where you can just relax in the wilderness - the way Disney intended.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort isn’t about the parks. It’s about being on vacation. Theme parks can be secondary because there are so many fun things to do here.
Cost of Wilderness Cabins
Now the big question everybody asks is, “How much do the Fort Wilderness Cabins cost per night?”
Unfortunately, there is no easy answer. It has to do with things like the time of year or if you want a room and ticket package. Generally speaking, Wilderness Cabins range in price from about $450 - $650 per night.
One of the best-kept secrets here at Walt Disney World is the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. It’s part attraction and part working horse stable.
The name is a reference to an old Mickey Mouse Club spin-off called The Adventures of Spin and Marty where the boys camped at the Triple R Ranch.
You can stroll through the stables to visit Cinderella’s ponies and the working horses of Walt Disney World - there are about 90 in all.
Don’t miss the antique calliope, it was purchased by Walt Disney himself for the opening of Disneyland in the 1950s. There’s also a little museum dedicated to Walt Disney’s love of horses. There are some great memorabilia pieces and photos inside.
The Tri-Circle-D Ranch also offers horseback riding and pony rides for little ones. Horseback riding requires advance reservations and is actually located in a separate barn at Fort Wilderness located at the Outpost.
There are horse-drawn carriage and wagon rides offered at the resort. Advance reservations are recommended by calling 407-WDW-PLAY. These tours can be booked starting 60 days in advance. As your travel advisor, I’m also happy to make the reservation for you.
These horse-drawn rides take you on a tour through Ft Wilderness. This is a great way to see the Fort, especially during the fall when many of the campers set up elaborate Halloween and Christmas displays at their campsites.
During the Christmas season, there’s even a horse-drawn sleigh ride available - but since this is Florida, the sleigh is on wheels! So, just use your Disney imagination there.
Onsite General Stores
There are two general stores at the Fort: The Settlement Trading Post and The Meadow Trading Post.
Both offer select grocery items, mostly essentials like milk, eggs, bread, and other necessities that you might need to set up your vacation cabin.
If you’re a Disney nerd, you might consider Disney merchandise to be an essential part of your shopping list, and don’t worry, there’s plenty of that too.
I like they have a number of Ft. Wilderness logo gear as well. These items can’t be purchased anywhere else at Walt Disney World.
Now, if you’re wondering about how you can have a BBQ, at your cabin, the Meadow Trading Post and Settlement Trading Post carry charcoal, firewood, and even smores kits.
How to Rent a Golf Cart at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
I saved the best for last. The one that you must do at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is to rent a golf cart. Even if you have your own vehicle, I say ditch the family car and spring for a golf cart. You really can’t drive your car around the resort anyway because there isn’t any place to park other than your cabin or campsite.
Golf carts cost about $80 per night for a 24-hour rental period. I recommend reserving a golf cart in advance by calling 407-824-2742.
They do sell out. Now, if you forgot to make your reservation, you can join a waitlist at the check-in desk. You’ll receive a text if one has been made available for you.
As your travel advisor, I can arrange a golf cart rental for you as well.
You must have a driver’s license and be a guest at Ft Wilderness to rent a golf cart because it is billed to your campsite or cabin.
You’ll see golf carts everywhere at the Fort. I think driving around in our golf cart was the most fun we had during our entire stay.
We, meandered around each night just to enjoy the scenery and the fresh air. We even spotted some wildlife like deer and wild turkeys.
I recommend taking a drive around to explore the resort and check out some of the RVs - some are quite impressive.
But you can also drive it to the pool, the general stores, and even to the Magic Kingdom boat launch at the Settlement and the bus depot at the Outpost.
Transportation at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
Fort Wilderness has internal buses just like Port Orleans and Caribbean Beach. There are two main transportation hubs at Fort Wilderness: the Outpost and the Settlement. They are on polar opposite sides of the resort.
The Outpost is the main bus stop for the theme parks (except for Magic Kingdom). You’ll need to walk, drive your golf cart, or take the internal shuttle to the Outpost if you want to visit EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, or the water parks.
The Settlement is all the way in the back of the resort complex and it’s where you’ll find the restaurants, the Hoop Dee Doo dinner show, a general store, and a boat dock for Magic Kingdom transportation.
Magic Kingdom can be accessed by boat or you can take a bus from the Settlement depot.
Just make sure a Magic Kingdom bus is running, sometimes it isn’t which means you’ll need to take a boat or take a bus to the nearby Wilderness Lodge Resort and transfer there.
You can call the front desk for current transportation availability.
When going to Magic Kingdom, I recommend taking the boat. It’s a scenic ride that passes by Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The boat ride is about 10 -20 minutes depending on whether or not goes express.
Some boats will stop at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and/or Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Whether or not the boat runs express varies by time or day and even by season.
If the boat is making stops at other resorts, add about 8 minutes per stop to the time it takes to reach Magic Kingdom.
Other tips for Fort Wilderness Resort
Now of course this isn’t everything there is do to at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
You’ll also want to check out
Hoop-Dee-Doo-Musical Review is the longest-running show in America. Reservations are recommended and can be booked starting 60 days in advance.
Rent canoes and kayaks

Best Rooms at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort
Where to find the Standard View, Water View, Preferred View rooms at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Want to know where the Standard View, Water View, and Preferred Rooms are at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort? In this article, I’ll go show you where you can find them, review some of the best rooms in Coronado Springs, and more.
With over 2,000 guest rooms and 64 suites, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is one of the larger hotels at Walt Disney World.
But this moderately priced, Spanish-themed resort is also one of the best-kept secrets at Disney World: it’s a terrific value for your money!
How Coronado Springs is different from other Disney Moderate Resorts
Upgraded softgoods (bed linens, towels, pillows)
Central air conditioning (other moderates have window units)
Only moderate resort that has fitness centers
Multiple dining options from casual to fine dining, including an upscale rooftop restaurant and several bars/lounges
Only moderate resort to offer Club Level and suites
Tower rooms are accessed via interior hallways
Tower rooms have bath upgrades like rain showers
There are two main sections of the resort:
The Campus
Gran Destino Tower
Gran Destino Tower
Gran Destino Tower has a combination of standard rooms and suites. This is where you’ll find the Club Level lounge known as the Chronos Club. Rooms are accessed via interior hallways in the tower.
Most rooms in Gran Destino Tower sleep 4, but there are also a number of suites.
Coronado Spings Campus
The Campus at Coronado Springs is made up of 2, 3, and 4-story buildings, there are 12 of them in all.
Standard rooms have 2 queen beds and sleep up to 4 adults.
Rooms within the Coronado Springs Campus are accessed via exterior corridors with exterior entry to the rooms.
Some rooms at the end of each corridor have an additional side window that allows for more natural light, these are known as, “corner rooms.”
Each of the villages has a pool but there’s also a feature pool complex called the Dig Site. This is where you’ll find a Mayan temple-themed water slide and pool bar.
The Campus section is made up of 3 villages:
Casitas Village
Casitas is made up of 3 and 4-story buildings and it’s the closest to the lobby, dining, and convention center.
It’s themed in a more urban setting with courtyards, tranquil fountains, and market-style buildings.
Ranchos Village
Ranchos has a village vibe - think the American Southwest with cactus plants and rock gardens. 2 and 3-story buildings make up Ranchos. While this is one of the prettiest sections of the resort, some buildings are far from the lobby and dining.
Cabanas Village
Cabanas has some of the best water-view rooms that overlook the lake. It’s also the second closest village to the main lobby and dining after Casitas.
You cannot specifically book a room in one of these villages, but I can enter a request with your reservation.

Best Rooms at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Where are the Standard View rooms?
Grand Destino Tower Standard View Rooms
Standard View rooms in Grand Destino Tower will have a view of the parking area and a distant view of Disney’s Hollywood Studios including the Hollywood Tower of Terror.
Campus Standard View Rooms
Standard View rooms in the campus are the most economical room category within the resort.
See the average nightly rates of Walt Disney World hotels ▸
There are more Standard View rooms than any other category and they are found in every building of the campus, except buildings 1 and 3 in Casitas (these are all Preferred Rooms and Suites).
The definition of Standard View varies at Coronado Springs; it can mean a view of a courtyard and/or a parking area.
In the Standard View category, I recommend making a request not by view, but by location.
If you prefer a room with a shorter walk to the main lobby and dining, request buildings 2, 4, or 5 in Casitas.
Remember that Casitas is closest to the resort’s lobby, dining, and convention center.
Standard view rooms in Buildings 2 and 4 are close to the laundry facilities and village pool. Building 4 is closest to the Casitas bus depot.
And if you would like to be closest to the Coronado’s feature pool, The Dig Site, rooms in building 5 are the closest via the bridge that runs across the lake.
If you prefer a room located in a quiet location away from a lot of people walking by your room, request a room in Ranchos buildings 7A, 6A, and 6B and 8A and 8B in Cabanas.
Just keep in mind that Ranchos is pretty remote while Cabanas is somewhat closer to the lobby and dining.
Where are the Water View rooms?
Grand Destino Tower Water View Rooms
Rooms on the back side of the tower overlook the lake and campus are considered Water View rooms. Water view rooms cost only slightly more than Standard View rooms but aside from the view, they are identical inside.
If you request a Water View room on a high floor, you’ll have a distant view of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and maybe even of Expedition Everest.
I recommend upgrading to Water View, the view is worth the additional cost. The campus and lake look beautiful at night when it’s all lit up.
Campus Water View Rooms
Water-view rooms mean literally just that - water!
But this could be water in a pool or water in a lake.
You’ll find Water View rooms in Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas villages. There’s no way to manually select which type of water view you will have, your room will be selected on check-in day.
Some of the best Water View rooms at Coronado Springs are found in the Casitas and Cabanas villages.
In Casitas the best Water View rooms are in Buildings 3 and 5.
In Cabanas, these will be buildings 8B and 8C.
For the best of both worlds, convenient location, and water view, I recommend Buildings 3 and 5 in Casitas.
Just keep in mind that a walkway runs between the buildings and the lake so it won’t exactly feel very private.
For a little more privacy, request a Water View room in Cabanas. Yes, there’s a walkway there too, but the buildings are set further back.
You could also request Building 4, which is closer to the main lobby than Building 5 but here’s the issue.
Remember that a water view room can also “pool view.”
Some rooms in Building 4 overlook the lake, but there are more rooms that overlook the quiet pool.
This means you have a greater chance of getting a pool-view room in Building 4 than a view of the lake.
You’ll need to be more specific with your water view room request in Building 4 - pool or lake.
Where are the Preferred rooms?
First, it’s important to know that Preferred rooms at Disney’s Coronado Springs resort cost more than other Campus categories and have views of the lake, courtyard, or parking areas.
Why would a parking lot view room cost more? Well notice that Preferred Room doesn’t mention a specific view. These rooms are simply in a convenient location.
Preferred Rooms are located in Casitas, closest to the convention center, restaurants, shopping, and lobby.
You can request a specific view in the preferred category, either a view of the lake or one of the courtyards.
Preferred rooms are located in buildings 1, 2, and 3.
Are preferred rooms worth the additional cost? Yes, Coronado Springs is a massive resort and the added convenience of having a shorter walk is money well spent here.
Preferred rooms that are also in a quiet location can be found in buildings 1 and 3 with courtyard views.
Rooms that are close to the convention center are in Buildings 1 and 2.
Buildings 2 and 3 are closest to the village pool in Casitas and the resort’s feature pool The Dig Site. The quickest route to the feature pool is to take the bridge across the lake.
Room Requests at Coronado Springs
I make room requests for clients all the time and have learned a few tricks of the trade that help increases your chances of having your requests honored. But requests are never guaranteed.
Based on my client’s feedback, my room requests are honored about 80% of the time.
My Recommended Rooms at Coronado Springs
Here’s my shortlist of recommended rooms at Coronado Springs. Keep in mind that similar rooms may exist on the upper or lower floors of the building as well.
For example, Room 3271 is building 3, 2nd floor, room 71. Room 3371 (3rd floor) offers a similar view.
Most of the requests I receive are for upper floors because they offer a little more privacy than ground-floor rooms and a better view.
My recommended rooms are all near stairs and/or an elevator.
Tips for making room requests
It’s better to leave room requests as general as possible. The more general they are, the more likely they will be honored.
Requests for a room near the bus stop, a particular room or building, or a “high floor” are viable requests and have a great chance of being honored.
While you might not get the exact room you requested, it gives the person assigning your room a sense of what you’re looking for. Chances are you’ll at least get something similar.
I do not recommend requesting a room that is outside of your category. Free upgrades are highly unlikely because the resorts sell out nearly every night at Walt Disney World.
Floor plan of a typical room at Coronado Springs (Campus)
The vast majority of rooms have 2 queen beds, a small table, and 2 chairs. Across from the bed is a TV and dresser.
Room Amenities
Hair Dryer, Coffee Maker, In-room safe, Mini-refrigerator, Internet - Free WiFi Service, Telephone with voice mail, Iron & ironing board, Lighted makeup mirror.

The Best Rooms at Disney's Pop Century Resort
Where are the best rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort? It’s all right here (with maps).
Disney's Pop Century Resort is a great place to stay for families and couples who are looking for a fun and affordable Disney vacation. But Pop Century is a large Resort with close to 3,000 rooms spread over 175 acres. Booking the right room here should be an important part of your vacation planning process. So, where are the best rooms at Pop Century? Let’s get started.
Disney's Pop Century Resort is a value-priced hotel located in Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It is themed to the pop culture of the 1950s through the 1990s, with each building decorated to represent a different decade.
The resort was originally going to open in December 2001, though the opening was delayed until December 14, 2003, due to the tourism crash that followed the events on 9/11.
Only half of the resort opened while the other half sat abandoned for years - eventually becoming Disney’s Art of Animation Resort in 2012.
Watch the video on Best Rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Pop Century Resort is also on the Disney Skyliner Transportation System, a terrific perk. This overhead gondola system flies guests to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
It’s on the southern spur of the network so you’ll need to change gondolas at the Caribbean Beach station depending on which theme park you want to visit.
There could be long lines to board the Skyliner during peak times, and then more long lines when you need to transfer gondolas but they do move quickly.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is the Skyliner hub, so if you stay at this resort, you won’t have to transfer gondolas. But it does cost more than Pop Century.
The feature pool, known as the Hippy Dippy Pool, is located directly behind the lobby and food court, known as Classic Hall.
Guide to Pop Century Rooms
Pop Century is made up of 10, 4-story buildings. Rooms are about 260 square feet. How does this compare to other Disney hotels?
Well, Moderate Resort hotel rooms are about 315 square feet and Deluxe Resort hotel rooms are about 380 square feet. So yeah, they are a little small.
The vast majority of rooms come with 2 queen size beds… sort of.
One of the beds is a Murphy Bed (or “Table Bed’) that also doubles as a table.
This is a genius move on Disney’s part because, with one of the beds out of the way, your 260-square-foot room suddenly feels much larger.
Pop Century Standard Room Floorplan
There are some rooms that have king beds - these rooms can sleep up to 2 adults plus 1 child up to age 3 in a crib.
Does Pop Century have elevators? Yes, there are elevators at Pop Century so if you have strollers you’ll be able to access each floor with ease.
However, if you have a scooter I would recommend that you make a request for a ground-floor room - it’s just a lot easier.
Rooms are accessed via exterior hallways. Rooms have central Heat and air conditioning.
I have a room tour video on Pop Century rooms that I’ll link to in the description below.
How does Pop Century Compare to other Disney Value Resorts?
Well, it’s nearly identical in layout and size to Disney’s All Stars Resort, also in the Value category but Pop is more centrally located on Walt Disney World property.
All Stars tends to cater to youth groups and while Pop Century is sometimes used for this too, it’s not as common.
Having the added benefit of being on Skyliner, Pop Century tends to cost slightly more per night than Disney’s All Stars Resort.
If it’s within your budget, I would recommend Pop Century over All-Stars.
Art of Animation is Pop Century’s sister hotel, they even share the same Skyliner station.
But Art of Animation is primarily a family suite resort. But that’s a different show.
Art of Animation has a limited number of standard rooms and I would consider them to be the flagship value rooms of Walt Disney World.
They have a Little Mermaid theme and they are larger by nearly 20 sq feet. They also cost more.
There are 2 additional pools at this resort located in the 1950s sections and in the 1990s section that are more convenient to the outermost buildings at the resort.
There are 10 buildings at Pop Century, divided into 5 sections named after decades from the 1950s through the 1990s.
Pop Century Room Categories
Standard Rooms are the most economical room category within Pop Century and can be furthest away from the feature pool and amenities, but not necessarily.
Views won’t be too impressive - likely landscaping, a service area, or a parking lot.
Standard rooms are found throughout the entire resort, in every section.
I wouldn’t put a lot of emphasis on view at a value resort. These resorts are so big, it’s better to book your room by location.
Standard Pool View are run-of-the-house rooms close to one of the resort pools - but probably not the feature pool.
Most people select this room category not because of the view but because they are guaranteed to be close to one of the pools.
You’ll find Standard Pool View rooms in buildings 1, 2, 3, 7, and 9.
Buildings 1 and 3 are more desirable because they are a little closer to Classic Hall and Skyliner.
But Buildings 7 and 9 are a little closer to the bus stop where you can catch the bus to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom.
Preferred Rooms are guaranteed to be centrally located within the resort.
These rooms will be close to the lobby known as Classic Hall, the Disney Skyliner station, the bus stop, and dining.
It's worth noting that these rooms cost only slightly more per night than a Standard Room and are well worth the extra cost.
Many times the cost is only $20 more per night but it makes a big difference.
You’ll have a lot less walking to do. Preferred Rooms at Pop Century are all about location.
Preferred Rooms are located in Buildings 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10.
These are the most popular rooms at Pop Century and tend to book up before other categories, even though they cost more.
Preferred Pool View rooms located in Buildings 4 and 5 are centrally located within the resort and guaranteed to be near the Hippy Dippy Feature Pool.
I recommend requesting a higher floor so you can actually see the pool from above and for some added privacy.
Pop Century Sections (Decades)
The 1950’s (Buildings 1, 2, 3) have their own neighborhood pool.
There’s a mix of Standard and Preferred rooms here.
Buildings 1 and 3 are close to Classic Hall, somewhat close to Skyliner, but far from the bus stop.
The 1960s and the 1970s (Buildings 4, 5, 6, and 10) are the most requested sections at Pop Century.
They are all close to Classic Hall and Skyliner Station.
This section houses Standard, Standard Pool, Preferred, and Preferred Pool View rooms.
Buildings 7 and 9 make up the 1980s section. You’ll find mostly Standard and Standard Pool View rooms.
While some rooms in this section can be far from Classic Hall, they have their own pool and they are close to the bus stop.
The 1990s has just one building - Building 8. This is the furthest away from Classic Hall, Skyliner, but somewhat close to the bus stop.
But everything else will be a hike.
Rooms on the east side of the building tend to have noise issues with nearby Osceola Parkway, just on the other side of the trees.
If you book your room through a travel wholesaler like Priceline, odds are your room will be in the 90s.
Remember that Preferred Rooms are only slightly more than Standard Rooms most of the time, so I would begin my search with a Preferred Room at Pop Century.
Preferred Pool View rooms are closer to the pool, yes, but they can also be noisy. They are also the priciest room category at this hotel.
Best Locations at Pop Century
There’s no doubt that the 1960s are the most convenient.
But these rooms are in high-traffic areas with people walking by to get to the pool and Skyliner.
I recommend a higher floor because you’ll have more privacy and better views.
Rooms Close to Skyliner
If you prefer to be close to Disney Skyliner, I recommend booking a Preferred Room and requesting buildings 4 and 5.
Many of these rooms have good views of the Hour Glass Lake and the Skyliner gondolas.
Rooms with a view
The best views at Pop Century will be the Standard Room and Preferred rooms that overlook Hourglass Lake and Skyliner. Buildings 3, 4, 5, and 6 all have rooms that overlook the lake.
Remember that at Disney World Value Hotels, Preferred rooms are more about location, than view.
Standard Rooms in the 1960s tend to have better views, while Preferred are more convenient.
Why is it better to book a Preferred room versus a Standard Room? Well, even though many buildings contain both Preferred and Standard, a Preferred Room is guaranteed to be in a convenient location.
Room requests are not guaranteed so you could end up with a standard room in the 1990s even if you have made a request for the 1960s.
If you prefer not to roll the dice, book a Preferred Room.
I help my clients with room requests all the time so feel free to contact me for your next Disney World vacation. Together we can come up with the perfect room request.
Room requests have a better chance of being honored if you make them within the category you booked.
For example, if you booked a Standard Room and made a request to be near Skyliner, your request would have very little chance of being honored.
Preferred Rooms are located close to Skyliner and they cost more. So essentially you’d be asking for a free upgrade and that is unlikely to happen.
Keep in mind that room requests cannot be guaranteed but Disney tries hard to honor them.
My Recommended Rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
For Standard Rooms I like Building 3, especially Room 3435. It has terrific views of the lake and Skyliner and it’s nice and quiet.
For PReferred Rooms, Room 4436 in Building 4 has a view of trees and a partial view of Building 5.
I also like room 6112 in building 6. It’s a ground-floor room just steps away from the classic hall
