How to Rent a Scooter at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando
Tips for renting scooters, EVCs, wheelchairs and strollers at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.
Renting a scooter, wheelchair or stroller from a third-party vendor will not only save you money at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, but you’ll be able to keep it throughout your entire stay.
Renting directly from the theme parks will cost more and you’re restricted to theme park use only.
RENTING DIRECT FROM DISNEY
Scooters, also known as Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECVs), wheelchairs, and stroller rentals are available at each of the Walt Disney World theme parks.
Disney World does not offer scooter or wheelchair reservations and they often sell out. Rentals are first come, first served.
Disney World Resort hotels do not rent scooters but wheelchairs are available. Wheelchairs can be rented for the length of your stay.
If you intend to park hop, note that ECVs may not be removed from the park where they were rented from.
When leaving one theme park to visit another on the same day (Park Hopping) you’ll need to present your rental receipt from the first rental along with your deposit to secure another ECV, if available.
Scooters, wheelchairs, and strollers will cost more at Disney so I recommend using a third-party provider like ScooterBug or Buena Vista Rentals.
How to get a Disability Access Service Pass at Walt Disney World
If you are unable to wait in the traditional queue for an attraction for a medical reason, you may qualify for a Disability Access Service Card (DAS Pass).
This is not a front-of-the-line pass but rather a system that holds your place in line while you wait somewhere that’s more comfortable for you.
You obtain a Disney DAS Card online, in advance of your visit.
Through a live chat with a Cast Member, you’ll be asked a few general questions about your condition and the accommodation that you need. You will not need to show a doctor’s note.
If you qualify, the DAS pass will be unlocked in your My Disney Experience mobile app where you can virtually enter ride queues without having to physically be in line. The entire process is managed through the app. If you set up MagicMobile, all you need to do is tap your phone.
You will be permitted to bring a small number of guests with you so you can all enjoy the attraction together.
Renting Scooters Direct from Universal Orlando
Scooters (ECVs), wheelchairs and strollers are available to rent inside each of the Universal Orlando theme parks.
You can reserve a scooter or wheelchair at least 1 week in advance as they do sell out. Call Guest Services 407-224-4233 to make a reservation.
Wheelchairs are available inside the parking hub that can be used to take you to the park entrance.
Scooters and wheelchairs are not available at Volcano Bay water park.
If you need a scooter at your hotel, consider renting a scooter from a third-party provider as you will not be permitted to take the scooter outside of the theme parks.
How to obtain an Attraction Assistance Pass at Universal Orlando
You can obtain an Attraction Assistance Pass from Guest Relations, located in CityWalk next to Starbucks Coffee.
This is not a front-of-the-line pass but rather a system that holds your place in line while you wait somewhere that’s more comfortable for you.
Go to one of the TeamMembers posted outside the attraction and show your Attraction Assistance Pass.
He or she will write down your return time on the back of the pass. You are then free to go somewhere else and wait.
When your time comes around, head back to the attraction and you’ll be escorted into a special line with minimal wait. Note that on popular rides, the wait can still be 45 minutes or more.
You can bring a small number of guests with you so you can all ride together.
Renting a scooter from a third-party provider
If you need a scooter, wheelchair, or stroller for your vacation, not just at the theme parks, you’ll need to rent from a third-party company such as Buena Vista or ScooterBug.
You’ll be able to take your device between the theme parks and take it to your hotel. Buses, monorails, and most watercraft can accommodate scooters.
ScooterBug and Buena Vista Rentals will send a service technician into the parks for service should you experience a malfunction or if you need a replacement.
Scooter Bug (scooterbug.com) is the exclusive provider of electric convenience (ECV) scooters, strollers and wheelchairs for Walt Disney World. This means you do not need to be present upon delivery and drop off of your device.
Will deliver and pickup without you being present.
Competitive rates.
Cancel up to 48 hours in advance for a full refund.
ScooterBug also services Universal Orlando Resort.
Buena Vista Rentals (buenavistascooters.com) offers free delivery and pick up at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando hotels.
Scooters are delivered to Disney World hotels on a schedule, drivers make 3 stops per day, you can select the time that best fits your needs. You must be present for pick up and drop off at Disney.
If you take the evening delivery, you’ll get one free rental day.
You do not need to be present at Universal Orlando hotels for pick up and drop off.
Readers of this website will receive a 10% discount when you book online.

Easy Guide to Flamingo Crossings at Walt Disney World
Disney World’s new hotel, shopping, dining complex - Flamingo Crossings
Flamingo Crossings is Disney World’s second hotel, dining and entertainment village, similar to Disney Springs, only smaller. It officially opened in November of 2021, but much of the retail and dining is just nearing completion.
Located just behind Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at the western entrance to Walt Disney World, Flamingo Crossings is 13 minutes from Magic Kingdom and 12 minutes from Epcot, 12 minutes from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and 8 minutes from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.
You may not have known about the western gateway to Disney World and for good reason. There was literally nothing there for decades other than orange groves and access to SR-429.
In addition to being a scaled down version of Disney Springs it’s also home to a massive campus for the Walt Disney World College Program.
Hotels at Flamingo Crossings
While Disney World won’t be building any of its own hotels here, you will find Hilton and Marriott hotels, offering spacious, extended-stay accommodations.
These hotels can be booked as a Walt Disney World room and ticket package and they participate in early park admission. Contact me today for pricing and availability.
Flamingo Crossing hotels are comparable in price to Disney’s Value Resorts.
Extended stay hotels have large rooms that often a separate bedroom and living area, plus a kitchen or kitchenette.

Disney World’s On-Property Grocery Store
Many of the rooms at the Flamingo Crossings hotel area have kitchens, but where are can you get groceries? Well, Disney thought of that too.
There’s a Small-Format Target Store on property, currently the only one of it’s kind in Orlando and the only grocery store on Disney World property. Small Format Targets are abbreviated stores, think of them as “the best of Target” with just the essentials.
I found the grocery and wine selection to be comprehensive with fresh produce, dairy, meats, along with boxed and frozen foods.
Target at Flamingo Crossings is located within walking distance to each of the hotels.
This target also offers grocery delivery to the Walt Disney World Resort hotels as well.
Transportation Options at Flamingo Crossings
If you’re wondering about Disney transportation to the theme parks, just like the Disney Springs hotels, it is not offered.
The hotels do offer a shuttle service to the theme parks, currently through Main Gate Transportation, however it is not free.
Prices vary but seem to average around $10 per person each way.
Shuttles run on set schedules and you need to notify the hotel at check-in that you will be requesting a shuttle ride.
The shuttles operate on a set schedule so you won’t be able to come and go as you please.
If you don’t have a vehicle with you, I recommend using Uber or Lyft. Ride shares may even be cheaper. See my Guide to Using Uber and Lyft and Walt Disney World.
Hotel staff told me that almost all the guests use Uber and Lyft or a rental car. See my Guide to Renting a Car in Orlando.
Disney’s Minnie Van Service is not currently offered at any of the Flamingo Crossings hotels but this may change in the future.

Starting on March 20, 2023, guests will receive free access to attraction photos when they purchase Disney Genie+ service.
This is for on-ride photos only and does not include, for example, photos in front of Cinderella Castle or with your favorite character.

Abandoned: What Happened to the Orlando Sun Resort
The largest hotel in Florida now sits abandoned, just outside of Walt Disney World. Here’s what happened.
The abandoned Orlando Sun Resort and Convention Center sits right outside the entrance to Walt Disney World Resort and the Disney-created Town of Celebration, less than a mile from my house. I pass by it every day and have been fascinated by it since moving here.
How could a hotel in such a prime location fail? What happened here? What went wrong? What’s next for this mega-resort complex?
There couldn’t be a more convenient location for an off-property hotel outside of Walt Disney World. It’s probably the most valuable piece of land in the Orlando area, located on the corner of I-4, US-192 and the main entrance to Disney.
And yet is has been abandoned since 2012.
The Slow Death of Kissimmee, Florida
US-192, also known as Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, intersects with I-4 and World Drive, the main artery that runs through Walt Disney World.
In the 1970s and 1980s, 192 was a thriving tourist area, both sides of the 6-lane roadway were lined with hotels, chain restaurants like IHOP and Denny’s, and Disney souvenir shops.
For many, staying in Kissimmee was the only option as Disney had a limited number of hotels, and they were often sold out.
Kissimmee was a much-needed hotel district that supported Disney World.
In the 1990s Disney began ramping up construction on several new hotels.
Budget-friendly hotels like Disney’s All Stars Resort and moderately priced resorts like Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort were not only affordable but convenient.
With these new hotels guests could stay on Disney property, use Disney transportation, and enjoy a number of exclusive perks.
The hotels on 192 soon began to die a slow death from that point forward.
Tourists were starting to become victims of crime often targeted for their rental cars. Rental cars had a particular letter/number combination on their license plates and criminals used this to target them. The story made national news.
Then, then the area suffered a major tourism crash following 9/11. It would be the final blow.
Many hotels in Kissimmee shuttered for good or sold out to time-share companies.
What happened to the Orlando Sun Resort?
The hotel was built in 1972 by the Carolando Corporation, owned by a small group of North Carolina investors who saw an opportunity to build a hotel complex right outside of the soon-to-be-built Walt Disney World in the late 1960s.
It was to include thousands of hotel rooms, restaurants, a convention center, and the tallest observation tower in Florida.
But Carlando soon hit serious financial trouble and less than a year into the project, they sold the property to the Hyatt Corporation. Hyatt finished building over 3,400 hotel rooms and the convention center, but never built the tower.
It was renamed the Hyatt Orlando Resort.
Hyatt operated the hotel for several years as a budget-friendly, modern resort and convention center but like most hotels in the area, it struggled to get heads in the beds in early to mid 1990s.
By 2002, Hyatt Orlando Resort was in serious financial trouble.
Kissimmee’s tourism economy was collapsing rapidly and those visiting Walt Disney World opted to stay on Disney property.
Attempts were made to revitalize the 192 corridor with business grants, new public transportation options and a crackdown on crime.
But on September 12, 2003, Hyatt suddenly closed its doors permanently, without notice to guests or employees. They literally told guests to be out by noon that day and few got refunds.
The hotel was later purchased at auction by the Moinian Group out of New York. The new owners planned to repurpose the hotel campus by making the rooms into condominiums.
While they waited for investors and permits, the hotel sat vacant for several years.
In 2007, Moinian decided to reopen the hotel so that it would generate some income until they could move forward with the condo project.
New furniture, soft goods, and landscaping were part of a nearly $1 million dollar refurbishment.
It was renamed the Orlando Sun Resort
The owners tried to attract new business by offering DJ dance parties and even boxing matches! These efforts failed.
Guests saw the hotel as grossly outdated and wrote negative reviews on Google about hot water issues, mold in the hotel rooms, and a lackluster pool.
The Orlando Sun Resort closed once again in 2012 and was listed for $74 million.
It was purchased in 2021 by another New York company that took a generous grant from Osceola County to improve the property.
Nothing has been done on the property to date and the old hotel still sits abandoned.
The Orlando Sun Resort website is still active, along with a YouTube channel. They have not been updated since 2012.
I highly recommend you watch this documentary by Bright Sun Films, one of my favorite YouTube channels.
I also recommend you explore the stunning photography of the Orlando Sun Resort on Abandonedfl.com
Notice
This hotel is private property, fenced off, and monitored by police and security. “No Trespassing” signs are present.
If you would like to view this hotel from a distance, you can see parts of it from Parkway Blvd in Kissimmee, FL but I encourage you to watch the video instead.

Disney World Travel Protection Rate Change
There’s good news and bad news about travel protection from Walt Disney World this week.
I have good news and bad news about the travel protection offered through the Walt Disney Travel Company.
The bad news is that the price of travel protection just increased by $12.50.
You’ll now pay $95 per adult for Disney World Travel Protection.
The good news however is that children age 17 and under are now free, and automatically covered when adults purchase the travel protection plan.
Prior to this change, children’s policies were $6 each.
Is travel protection necessary? In my article Is Disney Travel Protection Worth it? I discuss how it gives you peace of mind and share a few good examples.
You can also read more about what the travel protection plan covers in my Guide to Disney Travel Protection here.
As a travel advisor, it is my honest and personal recommendation to purchase travel protection.
Full disclosure, Disney pays me a commission if you purchase travel protection, but the amount will just about buy a small coffee.
My point is, there is no upsell bonus or anything like that if you buy the plan.
I recommend travel protection based on my experiences with clients who purchased it - and even those who didn’t.
For example, recently a good client contracted Covid-19 while at Disney. It spread to the entire family. While symptoms were all very mild thankfully, they spent over $1,000 on virtual doctor visits, having covid tests delivered to the hotel, and they were unable to fly home for 3 days.
This was all covered by their travel protection policy.
While Disney will work with you to some degree, if you have travel protection, it’s much easier to get a refund and reimbursements for medical expenses, extended stays and flight changes if you have it.

Packages are based on the number of hotel nights, not days.
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
Choose from 30 Disney World owned and operated resort hotels, all are on property and include complimentary Disney transportation to the theme parks.
See my Disney World resort tours and videos here ▸
Average nightly rates for Walt Disney World Hotels
Value Resorts: $150 per night

Deluxe Villas: Studios $600 per night, 1 Bedroom Villas $950 per night, 2 Bedroom Villas $1,200 per night, 3-Bedroom Villas $2,100 per night, Treehouse Villas $1,700 per night, Cabins and Bungalows $3,400 per night.

The cheapest nightly rates can be found from August through November, excluding Thanksgiving.
Disney charges a small fee when there is a 3rd and 4th adult staying in the same room, except in suites and villas.
Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets
Tickets can be customized to fit your needs. You select the number of ticket days and any options such as Park Hopper and/or Disney Water Parks.
Disney’s website does not give you all the available options, so using a travel agent to book your package is recommended.
We have more tools available to find you the perfect Disney World ticket.
With Disney World tickets, The longer you play, the less you pay per day. For example, a 6-day ticket costs less per day than a 4-day ticket.
Children ages 3-9 pay a reduced rate on tickets.
Ticket prices vary by day - yes every calendar day of the year has a different price. As with the hotel rates, ticket prices cost more during holidays and spring break.
Park Hopper option is a one-time cost that is valid for all your ticket days. This allows you to visit multiple theme parks on the same day, starting at 2 pm, subject to availability.
If you plan on visiting the Disney water parks you can add water park admission to your package as well.
When you add the water parks option to your package, you can visit the water parks more than once.
This is usually more cost-effective than purchasing a single-day water park ticket.
Additional Package Options

Why is it so hard to find a 2 or 3 bedroom villa at Disney World?
Why are 2 and 3 bedroom villas so hard to book?
1) There aren’t many 2 and 3 bedroom villas available across Disney World so they tend to book up faster than other villa types.
2) DVC members are able to book these rooms before the general public. After about 6 months out, villas that have not been reserved by DVC members will be placed into inventory for the general public.
Great places to start your search are Disney’s Old Key West Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resorts, they often have availability set aside for non-DVC members.

How to Find Your Car at Walt Disney World
Use your phone to help find your car at Walt Disney World
As an Orlando local, and travel advisor, I spend a lot of time in the Disney World theme parks, which also means I drive to the parks. One thing the makes me go bonkers is the constant sound of car alarms going off across the parking lot. At any given time, 5 or 6 alarms will be going off and it’s really annoying.
No, Disney isn’t a high crime area. It’s people activating the panic button on their remote to help them find their car in the vast, seemingly endless parking lots of Walt Disney World.
Soon, Disney World will be adding a new feature to its mobile app called “Car Locator” which will help people locate their car in the parking lots.
But did you know your smartphone already has this technology built in? You can use your phone to help you locate your car in any parking lot, even outside of Disney World.
Most newer phones automatically remember your vehicle’s location whenever they are disconnected from Bluetooth.
Here’s how you can use your phone to find your car, in all parking lots, but especially Disney.
iPhone Users
How to turn on the Parked Car feature
The Parked Car option should be enabled by default, but just in case it's not, it's easy to turn it on manually. Just be sure to set it up while your phone is connected to your vehicle’s bluetooth system.
Open the Settings app.
Tap the Maps setting.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
Make sure the Show Parked Location toggle is switched to the On position.
How to find your car
Open Maps and tap Parked Car.
You can even ask Siri to help, just say “Hey Siri, Where’s my Car?”
Android Users
How to save where you’re parked
On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app.
Tap the blue dot that shows your location.

Disney World: What if I forgot to make a park reservation?
Forgot to make a park reservation at Walt Disney World? Here are some options.
You are required to make theme park reservations for Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. Theme Park Reservations are made on the Walt Disney World website only, not on the mobile app.
But what happens if you forgot to make a reservation and the parks are at capacity? Can you still get into the park?
Sometimes same-day availability opens up, so keep checking the website everyday.
Do not show up without a reservation expecting to plead your case to the Cast Member at the gate. You will be denied entry without a reservation, assuming reservations are at capacity. Disney is firm on this. I see it happen all the time - heartbreaking!
One solution might be to add the Park Hopper option to your ticket. If you see availability at other Disney parks, make the reservation then park hop to the park you really want to visit.
Just keep in mind that park hopping begins at 2 pm.
The fee is approximately $100 per ticket, but on multi-day tickets, it will be valid for all your remaining ticket days.
I was hoping that Disney would eliminate the need for park reservations in 2023, but it appears leadership is just getting started. There are rumors that premium (paid) park reservation options may be coming.
Park reservations are subject to availability and they do book up on certain days - especially weekends.
It’s best to make your reservations as far in advance as possible. They can be adjusted later if there is availability.

Tour Disney's Vero Beach Resort
Join me as I visit and tour Disney’s Vero Beach Resort in Florida
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is located 2 hours southeast of Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
It’s actually part of the Walt Disney World collection of hotels - online check in is done through the Disney World mobile app.
The resort consists of standard hotel rooms, 1 and 2 bedroom villas, and 3-bedroom cottages.
On this trip we had an Ocean View hotel room. The extra cost for the view was well worth it.
Despite being a beach hotel, Disney has hidden the beach from any ground level area of the resort. Every possible view from the main floor or even outside on the sidewalk is blocked by thick vegetation.
I suspect this has to do with creating dark beaches for the sea turtles, so if you want to see the ocean, get an Ocean View room!
Tips for Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
Sign up for activities as soon as you check-in, especially kid’s programs.
Check-in is a 4pm, rooms are seldom ready earlier. But you can arrive any time and use the pool and beach.
Beach chairs and cabanas are available to rent for a small fee or you can bring your own. Surprisingly Disney doesn’t overcharge you on the rentals.
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is in a secluded location, there’s nothing for miles in either direction. Plan to spend most of your time in the resort. The village of Vero Beach is about 20 miles away.
Plan your trip as far in advance as possible. This resort is sold out every night of the year
December though February is considered the high season. September and October are the low season months.

Participating Hotels for Walt Disney World Early Park Admission
Get early park admission to the Walt Disney World theme parks when you stay at these resort hotels. Plus, a list of attractions, by park, that are typically operating during early park admission.
Guests staying at Disney World Resort hotels and select other hotels can take advantage of a 30-minute early entry into Walt Disney World theme parks every day.
Upon arriving at the Theme Park, Cast Members will be standing by ready to scan your Magic Band or Key to the World Card to verify your hotel reservation.
If you see a crowd of people, don’t assume they are in line for Early Park Mission. Many people arrive at the parks early to be there for the normal opening time (aka rope drop) and you don’t want to get mixed up with that crowd.
Be sure to look around for the Early Park Admission access points. If you’re unsure where to go, ask a Cast Member, there are plenty of them on duty to assist guests during this time.

Is Disney World’s Travel Protection Plan Worth it?
The Walt Disney World Travel Protection Plan helps protect you and your family for unexpected covered losses from the moment that you step out of your front door until the moment you safely arrive back home.
You’re very excited for your Disney World vacation and the big day has finally come. You arrive at the airport only to find out your flight is delayed. After several hours of waiting, the airline cancels the flight. Unfortunately this is all too common these days.
You’re in a difficult situation now because, according Disney’s terms and conditions, you cannot cancel your vacation inside of 24 hours to arrival.
The penalty? Forfeiture of the entire package price.
The good news is that Disney is not some little bed & breakfast who is going to stick it to you for cancelling last minute. Odds are you will be offered some type of solution.
But what happens if you don’t like the solution? It could be anything from a 50% credit if you rebook, or maybe a partial refund back on your credit card. It’s really up to Disney, all you can do is go along with it.
You will almost certainly be reminded that Disney Travel Protection was an option when you booked your vacation package.
If you purchased travel protection, this is easy. Just file a claim! As long as your claim is for a covered reason, you’ll get your money back.
You can then make new vacation plans without the headache of dealing with partial refunds and future credits, or worse, losing the entire package price.
The cost of Disney Travel Protection is well worth the peace of mind. And I always say, you can never have enough insurance.
Have questions about planning your Orlando vacation? I have answers. Contact me today to get the most out of your vacation.
How much is Disney Travel Protection?
Disney travel protection is $95.00 per adult, and children age 17 and under are free with a paying adult.
It helps protect you and your family for unexpected covered losses from the moment that you step out of your front door until the moment you safely arrive back home. This means your airfare is covered too.
Disney Travel Protection Plan can be purchased any time prior to final payment for your trip.

Disney World's 3rd Generation Magic Bands, Hey Disney! and Dining Plans Delayed
What happened to Hay Disney, the Disney Dining Plans, and 3rd Generation Magic Bands?
There are many great experiences returning to Walt Disney World Resort like being able to hug the characters again, daytime parades, and entertainment but there are still a number of projects that were promised in “early 2022” that we don’t talk about anymore.
At the Destination D23 event in November, Josh D'Amaro, Chairman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products shared some new things we could look forward to in 2022 during a high-energy presentation, complete with characters and Cast Members joining him on stage. To anyone who was in the room, it was incredibly inspiring.
While more experiences and opportunities are coming back very soon (I’m looking at you Minnie Vans) I can’t help but notice that some “early 2022” items seem to have fallen off the radar.
We are halfway through April so I think it’s fair to say it’s not “early 2021” anymore.
Hey Disney!
In November 2021, we learned that Hey Disney! is going to be a unique version of Amazon Echo.
Also Hey Disney! devices were to be installed in 30,000 hotel rooms across Walt Disney World in early 2022 plus they could be purchased for home use.
Hey Disney! would be able to handle requests, such as asking for more towels or requesting Bell Services.
Hey Disney! would answer questions about your Disney World hotel, give you Disney transportation tips and wait times, provide park hours, tell you what time the fireworks would be at Magic Kingdom and more.
I was supposed to receive a complimentary home version of Hey Disney! but it never arrived. Recently I sent an email to Disney asking when it might be sent out. The Cast Member explained that the project is delayed but will be available sometime in 2022.
The Return of the Disney Dining Plans
Last August, Disney World sent an email to travel agents stating that the Disney Dining Plans would be returning “soon.” I don’t know how Disney defines “soon” but I assume 8+ months could be considered soon by some comparisons.
I believe Disney wants to offer this product again but there are a still a number of operational concerns that need to be addressed.
Not all the restaurants at Disney World have reopened and most are still not operating at full capacity due to staffing issues. This is why it has been somewhat difficult to secure dining reservations.
At Epcot alone, we’re still waiting for Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in Norway, Takumi-Tei Restaurant in Japan, Monsieur Paul in France, and Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco to reopen. Hopefully as the Cultural Representatives begin to arrive this summer, these restaurants will reopen…um…soon!
Staff shortages are still a major factor but I’m not so sure Disney is in a hurry to hire more people right now.
Currently the demand for leisure travel is very high. But if the economy makes a downward trend, Disney World could easily be over staffed in 2023.
There are a few more issues that need to be addressed before the Disney Dining Plans can be brought back. But let’s hope they come back “soon.”
3rd Generation Magic Bands
On September 30, 2021 we learned that 3rd generation Magic Band would be arriving at Walt Disney World in early 2022. If you have been paying attention to this article, you know how that went!
Last fall I began advising my clients who booked 2022 travel to hold off on purchasing Magic Bands in anticipation of the 3rd generation bands being released.
Generation 3 Magic Bands are pretty cool, I had a chance to see a test band in action. They come alive at various times as you move about the parks and resorts with color-changing lights, haptic vibrations and gesture recognition.
These wristbands will allow you to engage in new interactive experiences resort-wide. There is no official word on when they will be introduced at Walt Disney World. I just know they’re running late.
As always, stay tuned to OrlandoParksGuy.com/blog for more information about Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, Disney Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean.
Character Greetings Returning to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line
Soon you can hug the Disney characters again in Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Disney Cruise Line
Everyday someone sends an email asking me when they can hug Disney characters again. The wait is almost over! Character greetings are returning to Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line as early as April 18, 2022.
The official announcement was released today from the Walt Disney Company:
Margaritaville Resort Orlando is a Game Changer for Disney World, Universal Orlando
Margaritaville Orland Resort is located just outside Walt Disney World. It features a luxury hotel tower, vacation home rentals, lagoon pools, a dining and entertainment district and Orlando’s newest water park, H20 LIVE.
Recently I had a chance to visit Margaritaville Resort Orlando, located just outside the entrance to Walt Disney World in Kissimmee, Florida. It’s so close to Disney World, you can see Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge from the upper floors of the hotel.
This is a brand new, full service resort offering a luxury (but relaxed) hotel tower plus Key West-style vacation homes. The best part is that they usually cost less than Disney World Moderate and Deluxe hotels!
Margaritaville Orlando offers a complimentary theme park shuttle to/from Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and Seaworld. Reservations can be made at concierge desk in the lobby.
Most Margaritaville Orlando hotel rooms sleep 4 people. If you have more than 4 people, look into a suite or consider one of the vacation cottages.
Margaritaville Cottages provide a truly unique experience as the whole family can stay under one roof in a tropical paradise.
1 to 8 Bedroom Cottages are available and each Cottage is equipped for all your vacation needs, including full kitchen with accessories and appliances, full size fridge, Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker, and a dining area.
Margaritville Orlando is also home to Sunset Walk, a shopping, dining, entertainment district in Orlando, popular with visitors and locals alike.
Sunset Walk is a great place to have dinner, enjoy live music, and maybe even a car show or farmers market.
You’ll also find H20 LIVE! Orlando’s newest water park, also on located on site.

Land and Sea Summer Vacay in Orlando
August deals on Royal Caribbean from Orlando (Port Canaveral, Florida) are available now
Earlier this week I shared that Disney Cruise Line is sold out for summer sailings. But it’s not too late! Go Royal Caribbean out of Port Canaveral and save big. Port Canaveral is less than an hour away from the Orlando theme parks and airport.
Tip #1 - Take Advantage of Royal Caribbean Offers in August
The cruise lines want your business. Obviously they have been hit hard by the pandemic plus they are recovering from a period of highly restrictive and confusing CDC regulations.
The cruise lines have every reason to ensure guests are safe onboard. An outbreak on one ship, any ship, would be disastrous for the entire industry. No one wants that.
All of the major cruise lines have exceeded the CDC guidelines and have proven they can sail safely.
As the industry struggles to recover, the cruise lines are offering amazing discounts.
This is your opportunity to enjoy the family vacation of a lifetime, for less. This means you can do even more.
Take a look at these rates for August 2022 using Royal Caribbean’s latest promotion:
Royal Caribbean August Sailings from Port Canaveral, Florida*
August 1, 2022 - 4 night sailing from $433 per person
August 4, 2022 - 4 night sailing from $233 per person
August 5, 2022 - 3 night sailing from $318 per person
August 8, 2022 - 5 night sailing from $313 per person
August 12, 2022 - 3 night sailing from $309 per person
August 15, 2022 - 4 night sailing from $349 per person
August 19, 2022 - 3 night sailing from $309 per person
August 22, 2022 - 4 night sailing from $339 per person
August 26, 2022 - 3 night sailing from $288 per person
Tip 2: Visit the Orlando Theme Parks
You’ll be in Orlando anyway, so why not plan a visit to Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando?
I help clients everyday plan Land and Sea vacations in Orlando. A 3 or 4 night cruise on Royal Caribbean plus 3 or 4 nights at the Orlando theme parks is a great vacation.
Everyday I work with clients who trust me show them how to book a Land and Sea vacation. Put my experience to work
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line offers a family-focused vacation experience just like Disney Cruise Line. Actually, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas, Perfect Day at Coco Cay, usually gets higher marks than Disney’s Castaway Cay Island.
Now is the best time to begin planning your summer vacation. Cruise fares will increase as the sail date gets closer. Those who book early save the most.
*Price is per person, in USD, for cruise only on select sailings and stateroom categories, based on double-occupancy, reflects any promotional savings, and is subject to change and availability. Taxes, fees, and port expenses are additional. Bookings made under the Non-Refundable Deposit Program are subject to a 100 USD cancellation or change fee per guest. Price includes non-commissionable cruise fare. Additional restrictions apply, including the terms and conditions of any promotions and pricing programs. © 2019 Royal Caribbean. Ship’s registry: Bahamas
Starting Friday, November 22, 2024, Lightning Lane Premier Pass is now available to guests at ALL Disney Resort hotels.
