Disney World Drops Virtual Quques on 2 New Rides

Disney World drops virtual queues on 2 popular attractions. I applaud this decision.

Beginning today, you can experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT through either a standby queue or a Lightning Lane option.

I appreciate the added choice and flexibility that the standby queue provides. Getting up early to snag a virtual queue at 7 am could not have improved guest satisfaction. Especially for those who didn’t get in.

It wasn’t a great system. You pay $200 per person to get in the park, and then find out you missed the virtual queue signup or that you need to spend even more money just to ride to Tiana or Guardians. It was heartbreaking to hear guests asking Cast Members how they get their family on these rides only to find out that passes are sold out.

I applaud Disney for reconsidering this policy. It’s the right thing to do.

Star of the Seas Ahead of Schedule. Preview Cruises Now Available!

With Star of the Seas arriving ahead of schedule, Royal Caribbean is offering 2 showcase cruises on in August 2025. These preview sailings will sell out fast! Reserve your room now.

The new Star of the Seas is set to begin operations for Royal Caribbean International ahead of its original schedule.

Star of the Seas along side Icon of the Seas

“Building such a large and impressive ship is complex, and while delays can happen, occasionally we have the chance to launch a new ship sooner than expected,” the company stated.

Royal Caribbean has announced that the second ship in the Icon Class will offer two four-night cruises before its official inaugural voyage.

I just booked one for my family because it departs on a Wednesday. This means we won’t have to miss a week of school on a 7-night voyage. And we saved a lot of money because it’s a 4-night cruise.

These new “showcase sailings” will depart from Port Canaveral on August 23 and August 27, 2025, and include stops at Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Can you image the reaction of the locals when Star of the Seas arrives in port? It will be larger than anything they have seen before, and they see a lot of cruise ships!

Contact me here for pricing and availability on the Star of the Seas showcase sailings. This is a great way to see Star of the Seas without committing to a 7-night sailing.

The previously scheduled seven-night inaugural cruise on August 31, 2025, will still proceed as planned.

In its announcement, Royal Caribbean provided guests the option to adjust their bookings to the showcase sailings.

Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas sailing at dusk

“If you had originally booked your Star of the Seas sailing to be the first onboard, you can now choose to book either or both showcase sailings or move your existing reservation to one of the inaugural four-night cruises,” the company mentioned.

For those who book one of the newly available sailings, Royal Caribbean will provide similar stateroom options.

Passengers in suites will have their current accommodations reserved until February 6, 2025, as a courtesy, the company noted.

Guests choosing to switch their bookings to one of the four-night cruises can do so without any extra charges.

The cruise fare will be adjusted to reflect the shorter duration, changing from seven nights to four.

The complimentary transfer applies solely to the new cruise fare and does not cover taxes, fees, gratuities, and other non-cruise fare expenses.

As a sibling to the Icon of the Seas built in 2023, the Star of the Seas is currently under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland.

Yaknog (Mead Hall): A fun drink that captures the spirit and adventure of Berk with its rich and creamy concoction of malted chocolate, cinnamon and a generous swirl of whipped cream.

Thawfest Platter (Mead Hall) menue

Thawfest Platter (Mead Hall): Feast like a Viking with this grand spread of tender chicken drumsticks glazed in a wild berry BBQ glaze, grilled salmon, and succulent sausage served with a medley of roasted carrots, cipollini onions, Nordic fries, and side sauces.

Epic Universe Stella Nova Hotel. What it’s Like

I tested Universal’s new Stella Nova Resort. Here’s how it went.

Universal’s Stella Nova Resort is the first of 3 new hotels opening as part of the Epic Universe Expansion here in Orlando. Ihad a chance to experience everything at this new hotel. Here’s how it went and be sure to stay tuned to the end, I’ll reveal a little secret about this resort.

Upon arriving at rStella Nova I drove past Epic Universe. I was surprised to see how close this hotel to the park. And I was able to see inside the park from my room, but more on that coming up. By the way, overnight parking is $30 per night. This adds up, 3 nights is nearly $100. This is a pure money grab from Universal.

Lobby and exterior of Stella Nova Resort at Universal

The hotel's design draws inspiration from the vast and breathtaking wonders of outer space, and that theme is evident throughout the entire property, starting with the exterior. Its facade is covered in more than 140,000 colorful iridescent tiles that shift in color depending on the time of day. When I arrived around noon, they reflected deep shades of blues and purples. By nighttime, the tiles absorb any light whatsoever, completely blacking out the entire hotel except for the illuminated constellations on the side of the building. It’s a very cool effect.

Watch the video

The lobby has a mid-century modern,  spacy vibe. It reminded me a lot of the TWA Hotel in New York, with round walls and signage that is straight out of the Jetsons.

Inside the all-white lobby are stunning, space-themed murals that are based on actual NASA photographs. The cosmic ambiance continues throughout the hotel with more mid-century seating, the check-in desk, minus any signage or velvet ropes, and a vacation planning desk where you’ll pick up your theme park tickets. You can also get help with the Universal Mobile app here and you can make dining reservations here as well.

Lobby and check-in at Stella Nova Resort

If you need to rent a car, there’s an Avis rental car desk here in the lobby. I love this about Universal’s hotels. This is very convenient if you want to visit another Orlando attraction or even Grandma and Grandpa.

A Universal Studios gift shop to the right of the Avis desk is loaded with Epic Universe and Nintendo merch. I like buying souvenirs at the hotel so I don’t have to carry them around the parks.

Stella Nove does offer a complimentary package delivery of merchandise purchased at Universal Orlando theme parks.

This service is available for purchases made at select stores in the theme parks and CityWalk. Just keep in mind that if you use this service your package will arrive the following day.

The Nova Bar serves up space-themed drinks, the kind that smoke and bubble.

During my stay, it was always busy at night, people enjoyed watching the drinks come out. Classic beverages are also available.

On the opposite of the lobby, there are 2 cafes.

One grab-and-go that also has handcrafted Starbucks coffees, fruit cups, sandwiches, and personal pizzas. The pizza was just awful, even for Florida, and it was much smaller than I expected given the size of the box it came in.

There’s a quick-service restaurant, The Cosmos Cafe, again straight out of the Jetsons, which offers standard burgers, paninis, fried chicken, and pasta.

The Cosmos Cafe is open for breakfast lunch and dinner. It’s conveniently located near the pool.

stella nova cosmic cafe

Cosmic Cafe at Stella Nova Resort is opened for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

And speaking of the pool, Stella Nova has a terrific complex, far exceeding my expectations for a Value Hotel.

While there is no water slide, it has a large, lagoon-style pool, an extra-large whirlpool, and plenty of loungers. There’s also a splash pad for kids and poolside games.

Just off the pool, you’ll find a beautiful and well-equipped fitness center and a small arcade room.

Stella Nova, along with Universal’s Terra Luna Hotel and Helios Grand Hotel, is located about three miles from the rest of Universal Orlando, but guests can take advantage of a complimentary shuttle service connecting Epic Universe (and its hotels) to the rest of Universal Orlando Resort.

I had a chance to ride a Universal Orlando bus on the new dedicated busway that connects Universal’s main campus with the Epic Universe Area hotels.

The busway is 1.7 miles long. It took me about 15 minutes to travel between Stella Nova and CityWalk, which wasn’t bad at all.  There’s a lot of traffic in Orlando, so being able to bypass most of it is a great perk.

Buses go to the City Walk Transportation Center located just outside the entrance of Islands of Adventure Universal Studios.

There was always a bus waiting for us on both sides - at the hotel and at the transportation center so there was no waiting around for a bus to arrive.

For those arriving via Orlando International Airport (MCO), Stella Nova Resort is about a 20-minute drive away. Universal offers a paid shuttle service called the Superstar Shuttle, though visitors can also opt for ride-hailing services or rental cars for transportation.

Superstar Shuttle is $23 per person each way and $18 for children each way for children. There is a discount if you purchase a round-trip ticket.

This is very similar to the old Magical Express service that Disney World used to provide.

Pricing for Stella Nova hovers between $140 and $240 per night. All rooms are the same, they have 2 queen beds. The only cost difference is the view.

Pool-view rooms cost the most. I had both a pool view and a standard view. I preferred the standard view because it overlooked the theme park.

But I’m a theme park fan so this is perfect for me. At Disney, a theme park view room is often the most expensive category you can book.

stella nove resort room with 2 queen beds and a cosmic mural on wall

Typical room at Stella Nova Resort

The rooms at Stella Nova Resort carry the same vibrant color scheme as the hotel’s public areas, creating a cohesive and immersive atmosphere.

Space-inspired artwork adorns the walls, adding a sense of adventure and wonder. A striking galactic mural serves as a backdrop behind the beds, while orange accent pillows provide a pop of warmth against the sleek, modern furnishings.

The furniture features smooth, curved designs, contributing to the resort’s futuristic aesthetic.

These thoughtful details come together to create a stylish and playful environment that perfectly complements the hotel’s cosmic theme.

The beds at Stella Nova Resort are soft and comfortable.

They come with a lightweight coverlet, which, while thinner than a traditional comforter, is a cozy yet breathable sleeping experience.

Bed linens were far better than I would expect for a value hotel, and there were several layers.

There is plenty of lighting in the room. If there's one thing I hate about hotels, it’s a dark room or lights with those blue LED bulbs.

Stella Nova has plenty of soft warm light.  I especially like the cove lighting and the illuminated mirror in the bathroom.

But the main lights are controlled by motion sensors in the room.

If there’s no motion, the lights will turn off. There are manual overrides, however. But in my room, the lights in the shower would shut off too quickly.

So I was in a pitch-black shower waving my arms around to get the lights back on. Either I take long showers or the sensor needs to be adjusted.

The vanity area is separated by a glass wall and a retractable curtain, allowing for additional privacy from the rest of the room.

The shower and toilet are quite spacious much larger than Disney’s value and moderate resorts. This split-bath setup allows multiple people to get ready at the same time.

The exclusive Cosmic Ember bath products had a refreshing scent, and I appreciated the thoughtful branding that extended even to the shampoo, conditioner, and soap, enhancing the resort’s immersive theme.

In addition to these signature toiletries, guest rooms come with a range of convenient amenities, including a coffee and tea maker, mini refrigerator, hair dryer, and iron.

Standard Wi-Fi is provided free and is very fast. Premium Wi-Fi is offered for $9.95 per day.

Air conditioning in the room is sufficient and provides a lot of white noise. Some people might find it too loud. And speaking of loud, the walls are paper thin.

I was able to hear my neighbors talking, clear as day. It was like we were staying in the same room. The white noise cancels that out as long as the AC unit is running.

As a guest at Stella Nova Resort, I got to enjoy exclusive perks that are available only to those staying at Universal Orlando hotels.

One of the biggest benefits is early park admission, which gives hotel guests a head start before the general public.

The specific parks and attractions available for early entry vary by day, but generally, you get 30-minute early access at Volcano Bay and a full hour at either Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure—perfect for getting on popular rides with shorter wait times.

Beyond early park access, staying at Stella Nova also came with other convenient perks.

Even though I had my own car, I found the shuttle to be the best option because of the busway. Keep in mind that Universal doesn’t offer free parking at the theme parks, not even to hotel guests.

One feature I’m really excited about is the walking path that will connect Stella Nova (and its sister hotel, Terra Luna) directly to Epic Universe when the park opens in May.

It’s about a 10-minute walk, but it will not be shaded. This will be like walking on the surface of the sun during the summer months. Fortunately, a shuttle bus will also be available.

Now, As promised, There’s a little secret about Stella Nova hiding in plain sight on the 3rd floor. When you get off the elevator, turn right and you’ll discover the star tunnel.

This is perfect for taking a few Instagram photos and kids will love walking through it. Tell them there’s a surprise on the 3rd floor and let them discover it, they’ll love it.

Where will Disney Destiny be Sailing?

Disney’s newest ship is now structurally complete. See where she will and when.

The Disney Destiny will be homeported at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The ship's maiden voyage is scheduled for November 20, 2025.

Disney Destiny’s bow depicts Minnie Mouse in a hero costume.

  • The Disney Destiny is the third ship in the Wish Class, joining the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure.

  • The ship will offer four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean.

  • Most cruises will include a stop at Disney's Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

  • The Disney Destiny's maiden voyage will be a four-night cruise that stops at both Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay.

Port Everglades is one of only two ports worldwide where Disney operates year-round. The other is Port Canaveral.

The Disney Destiny cruise ship's theme is heroes and villains, inspired by the dynamic duality of Disney stories.

How the theme is reflected on the ship:

The bow features Minnie Mouse in a heroic pose, and the stern features a statue of Spider-Man

  • Entertainment

Includes Broadway-style shows, character encounters, and interactive storytelling

Best Rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

I show you where you’ll find the resort view rooms, water view rooms and theme park view rooms. Plus the best rooms this resort.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of the most popular hotels at Walt Disney World. It even has unofficial fan clubs, how many hotels can say that?  It’s the only hotel at Walt Disney World with direct access to both monorail lines. But it’s a massive complex with multiple buildings and room types.

There are 3 sections that make up Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort: The hotel, which makes up the largest part of the complex, and two Disney Vacation Club sections:  the Villas and Bungalows, and Island Tower. I’ll get into Island Tower in a bit for now let’s focus on the main hotel part of the Polynesian.

Standard hotel room at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

There are 850 rooms located in 11 buildings or as Disney call them, longhouses. At 450 square feet, they are among the largest rooms at Disney World, and most rooms can sleep 5 people in 2 queen beds with 1 twin-size daybed.

There are suites here, though they book up fast, often by celebrities. Club-level rooms are standard hotel rooms in a private building with access to a hospitality lounge.

Child-size fold-down bed

Each of the 11 longhouses is accessed via exterior walking paths, but rooms are located off interior hallways. You can cut through other longhouses if you need air conditioning or shelter from a rain shower.

There are no hotel rooms located inside the main building.

See my video on the best rooms at Disney’s Polyneseian Resort

The Polynesian’s longhouses are 3 stories tall and have elevators.

One of the most important things to keep in mind at the Polynesian is that not all rooms have balconies. All ground-floor rooms have patios, and all 3rd-floor rooms have balconies, but many second-floor rooms do not have a balcony.

Instead, they have a sliding glass door and a railing. I never understood why Disney did this. I mean who wouldn’t want a balcony here?

Now in addition to standard hotel rooms, Disney’s Polynesian Resort also has studios available.

These studios are part of the Disney Vacation Club but they are often available to book even if you’re not a member.

Room rates are about the same as a standard room but my favorite perk is that they come with a kitchenette. I prefer the studios over a standard room, for the extra space and amenities.

Studios are also very close to the Epcot monorail. More on that in a moment.

Deluxe Studio at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Disney World hotel room prices are based on the view you have from your room. At the Polynesian, room categories are Resort View (formally Standard View), Water View, and Theme Park View.

Where You’ll Find Resort View Rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

map of disney's polynesian village resort showing where the resort view rooms are located

Resort View rooms are the most economical and have views of gardens, walkways, or possibly a peek at the monorail through the trees.

You won’t have any views of the lot here because it’s set far away from the hotel. Rarotonga has the most Resort View rooms, so there’s a very good chance you will get a room in this building. And that’s good thing, it’s very convenient.

Water View Room at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Map of water view rooms at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

Water View rooms at Disney mean just that. It might be a view of the pool, the marina, or even the Seven Seas Lagoon. You can make a request for the type of water view you’d like.

You’ll find Water View rooms in the Fiji longhouse, where rooms overlook either the Island Tower pool or the marina. Water View rooms in Tuvalu and Samoa, will definitely have a pool view. Hawaii, the CLub Level building has Water Views overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon. and Moorea - a DVC building comprised of Deluxe Studios also has water views facing the lagoon.

Theme Park View Rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Then there’s Theme Park View, which comes at a premium price. You’ll be able to see Magic Kingdom from your room and even more importantly, the nightly fireworks.

You won’t find too many Theme Park View rooms these days and they tend to sell out fast, despite the ridiculously high price.

You’ll find Theme Park views in 4 of the long houses:  Aotearoa, Tuvalu, Moorea, and Hawaii.

map of theme park view rooms at disney's polynesian village resort

If you stay at Club Level, you’ll be in the Hawaii Building where rooms come in 3 views: Theme Park View, Water View, and Resort View.

Water View rooms here will overlook the Seven Seas Lagoon and may have partial views of the fireworks.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a busy place because there is so much to do here.

So if you prefer a room that is located in a more quiet section of the resort, you have several great options here. And you don’t necessarily have to trade quiet for a room in a remote location.

To avoid people walking by, I recommend a third-floor room for extra quiet and privacy.

And in most cases, better views. Tuvalu theme park view rooms are among the best of the best, you get quiet, in a private area, and beautiful views of the Magic Kingdom.

Rarotonga has several rooms that offer peace and quiet, especially on the south side ground floor rooms, and all 3rd floor rooms, both sides of the longhouse.

These rooms are in the Resort View category so they are economically priced too. In the deluxe studios section,  Tokelow, third-floor rooms facing east overlook gardens and they are in a nice quiet area.

Also, Resort View rooms in Pago Pago and Moorea, are also quiet areas of the resort.

Especially noisy rooms, just for fun,  are the Moorea Water Views - because you’ll have a Magic Kingdom ferry passing through which makes a lot of noise.

This is true for the Bungalows numbered 7014 through 7020 - the ferry comes so close, that passengers will talk to you if you’re outside on your balcony.

Imagine spending $3500 per night in a Bungalow and having zero privacy. Samoa rooms in the water view category are super close to both pools, but if you’re on the east side facing the volcano pool, you’ll hear a DJ playing music all afternoon.

It can be so loud that you will have to turn up the volume of your TV in the room.

Now I said earlier that Polynesian is the most convenient hotel at Walt Disney World, if you agree after this segment, tap that like button to let us know.

Let me give you some examples. See, The Poly is all about location. It’s rich in transportation resources. You can take a boat to Magic Kingdom, buses to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom and Disney Springs, and of course the monorails.

But what makes the Polynesian unique is that you can board the Magic Kingdom monorail from the lobby, known as the Great Ceremonial House, and you can walk over to the Ticket and Transportation Center to board the Epcot monorail. In contrast.

This is the only Disney hotel with this benefit. And there is a walking path to the Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian, but I wouldn’t recommend it - it’s very far. It’s great if you’re a runner though.

Let’s see where the best rooms are located that are close to transportation.

If you want to be close to the Epcot monorail line, you’ll want to book a Deluxe Studio, not in the Island Tower, but a traditional studio. You’ll be in Moorea, Tokelau, or Pago Pago.

They are a 5-minute walk to the monorail station.

If you want to be close to the Magic Kingdom in terms of transportation, I recommend booking a Resort View room and requesting a third-floor or ground-floor room in Rarotonga.

This longhouse is just steps away from the Great Ceremonial house - you remember that’s the lobby, right? Now, rooms in Niue are also close to the Magic Kingdom Monorail and the bus depot.

Aotearoa is also close to Magic Kingdom via the water taxi. The water taxi can actually be faster if you see that a boat is just arriving.

Rarotonga and Nuie are among the most requested buildings at this resort because of their convenient location.   l share my absolute favorite room at the Polynesian and where you can find it coming up. Hint, it’s in Rarotonga.

If you’re staying at the Polynesian to treat yourself and your family, you may want a room with a great view.

The Theme Park View rooms here are among the best Disney World has to offer. The best views are located m  in the Hawaii building, which is Club Level.

Theme Park View rooms in Tuvulu offer amazing views of Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Third-floor rooms have slightly better views, but ground-floor rooms have beachfront patios. The issue with Tuvulu though is that you’re very far from the Epcot monorail station.

What if you want a great view but in a Water View category? I like water-view rooms in Aotearoa because you could get lucky here and get a partial view of the Magic Kingdom.

Third-floor rooms in Samoa facing east will overlook the quiet pool. Ground floor rooms on the west side will be very close to the volcano pool. You can even walk out your sliding glass door to the pool.

You’ll notice that I’m not providing specific room numbers here and that’s because it doesn’t matter. The odds of you making a request for a specific room and actually getting it, are slim to none.

See, the Cast Members who assign rooms have this giant puzzle to solve every day - like a game of Tetris. If you start hitting them up for room 3601, that could set off a chain reaction of having to move other guests around - who might also have room requests etc.

The key to making room requests is to keep them general. Don’t say you need a palm tree outside your room. They’re not going to talk a walk and see where the trees are located.

Make it easy and realistic for the Cast Members so they can honor your request. So say third floor in Rarotonga facing the pool.

That’s easy. Also don’t book a resort view room and request a view of the fireworks. That request has zero chance of being honored because Disney charges for that tye of view.

In December 2024, Disney opened Island Tower, a Disney Vacation Club property, the second installment of DVC rooms at the Polynesian. Island Tower is 10 stories high and has a few different room categories to choose from: duo studios, which are super tiny rooms, deluxe studios, and 1 and 2-bedroom villas.

But as a tower with only two sides of rooms, you’d think there would be just two view categories. Like the tower at Coronado Springs - there’s Water View on one side of the tower and Resort View on the other. Here at Island Tower, there are four!

Four room view categories for a 2-sided tower. We have Resort View, Water View, Preferred View,  and Theme Park View.

So let’s break it down. Resort View: a nice way of saying parking lot views. Preferred View overlooks either the pool or the golf course, Premium View really means water or lagoon view,

Theme Park View, obviously has views of Magic Kingdom and fireworks.

I want to go back to Preferred View for a second though because there are two different views here. If your room is on the east side of the hallway, you’ll have a view of the Hawaiian-themed pool and other areas of the hotel, you’ll probably be very happy about that.

But if you get assigned a room on the west side of the hallway, you’ll overlook the parking lot, a busy roadway, and a distant golf course.

There is nothing tropical or Hawaiian about that view.

And Theme Park View rooms will have views of the Seven Seas LAgoon and Magic Kingdom.

Best rooms here would be on a higher floor to avoid lower obstructions like trees. You’ll also be ablet to the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night.

I think I should point out that many 2nd-floor Resort View and Preferred View  rooms are level with the monorail beam, so you’ll have monorails (and passengers) going by your room every few minutes.

This means you’ll have very little privacy.

If views are important to you, you need to book a Theme Park View or a Premium View room at Island Tower. These rooms offer spectacular views and I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed here.

Disney puts a lot of emphasis on room locations and views, more so than other destinations. It’s a Disney thing I guess. Let me know what comments and questions you have about Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

I’ll be following along in the comments ready to help you.

I recently made a video a on Disney’s Beach Club Resort rooms. I show you the best rooms and the rooms to avoid,

14 New Orlando Vacation Experiences in 2025!

What’s New, What’s Next for Orlando Vacations in 2025

What’s New, What’s Next in Orlando

I'm excited to announce that Orlando, the theme park capital of the world and the top visited destination in the U.S., will debut several new experiences in 2025. This includes Orlando's first new theme park in over 25 years. ere’s what I’m looking forward to the most in 2025

Here at EPCOT, Test Track will return after a major revamp, featuring new scenes that highlight technological advancements in the auto industry. The 3.0 version of this ride will celebrate automotive innovation through the ages. I hear the queue will be an experience in itself, with six exhibits showcasing vehicles and the people who make them. The ride itself will be amazing too, with new scenes highlighting the latest technology and paying tribute to the original ride of the 1980s, World of Motion. I can't wait to have an updated version of this ride, an update was needed, glad Disney noticed that too.

This summer, Disney's Hollywood Studios guests can enjoy two brand-new stage shows: "The Little Mermaid—A Musical Adventure" and Unfairly Ever After. The Litte Mermaid will feature innovative new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design. The show is expected to debut around the same time that MuppetVision 3D and Muppet Courtyard closes on the other side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The new show features all-new physical and digital sets, a cast of puppets, live performers, and stunning visuals. Expect to see digital puppets transform into real ones right before your eyes. I think we can expect that The Little Mermaid–A Musical Adventure will open in late spring 2025.

And Unfairly Ever After at Disey’s Hollywood Studios replaces the defunct Lightning McQueen Show. Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent will take the stage to show the audience why they are the most misunderstood villains. The audience will then decide who is the most misunderstood in a finale with dozens of famous evildoers. This new show is expected to open in late spring or early summer 2025.

The Walt Disney World Swan rooms have been completely remodeled and the convention and meeting spaces here have also been refreshed. The updated guest rooms feature a modern design with new furnishings, fixtures, and artwork. Swans rooms still have 2 queen beds while the Dolphin rooms have 2 double beds.

The meeting spaces have also been upgraded with state-of-the-art event technology and a contemporary design. The resort now offers special rates for groups booking meetings and events in the newly renovated spaces. This is worth noting because Disney no longer offers group and meeting discounts on its hotel rooms. Whether you need 10 or 80 rooms, you pay the rack rate for Dinsey rooms. I think Disney is the only destination that doesn’t give volume discounts on hotel rooms. Let’s see how this works for them with the Swan, Dolphin, and uNiversal hotels making a play for Orlando’s convention business.  r

The Disney Treasure, a new ship from Disney Cruise Line, just started sailing from Port Canaveral. It joins the Disney Wish, another new Disney ship, as well as Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas (more about this coming up in a moment) and Utopia of the Seas, making Orlando the number one family cruise port in the world. The demand for family cruising has increased dramatically, and these new ships offer families even more options for cruising from Orlando.

The Disney Treasure does 7-night Caribbean itineraries. You’ll find 3 amazing lounges based on the Haunted Mansion, 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas, and Jungle Cruise from the Disney theme parks. There’s plenty of live entertainment like Beauty and the Beast, and exclusively on the Disney Treasure, The Tale of Moana, a Broadway-style musical that celebrates the courage to follow your dreams. There’s also a Coco-themed theatrical dining experience featuring the flavors of Mexico.

#10

The new Disney Vacation Club lounge at Magic Kingdom will offer comfortable seating, complimentary soft drinks with Coke Freestyle machines, Wi-Fi, and charging cords. There will be a children’s entertainment area and on-site Member Services. Located in Frontierland in the former Shootin' Arcade building, the lounge will require a valid DVC Membership Card and photo ID for access, and Members can bring up to four guests. As a DVC Member myself, I’m looking forward to this, but as a Disney Parks fan, my son and I miss the Shootin’ arcade.

#9

We can look forward to not 1 but 2 new lounges coming to the Disney theme parks this year.

This elegant lounge will be a tribute to the rich history of Spaceship Earth and EPCOT. Guests can enjoy sweeping views of the World Celebration Gardens. As the sun sets and the park transforms for the evening, the lounge becomes the perfect setting to experience the nightly fireworks from an entirely new angle.

This space used to be the corporate lounge that was for the exclusive use of those who worked for the attraction’s sponsors like AT&T and Siemens. As a huge EPCOT fan, I’m very excited. I've always wanted to go up there and see what it’s like. Construction just started a few weeks ago, and no opening date has been revealed.

Construction on a new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge is already underway at Magic Kingdom Park. Set to open in Adventureland in late 2025, this lively lounge will cater to pirates of all ages, featuring a delightful assortment of drinks and food, along with some intriguing and enchanting surprises waiting to be discovered!

#8

Blue Man Group returns to Orlando after being booted from Universal. The new Orlando show has moved to ICON Park, on International Drive, just down the road from Universal and about 15 minutes away from Disney World. This new Blue Man Orlando show will feature a distinctive blend of art, high-energy live music, comedy, and non-verbal communication. There will be new scenes and classic crowd favorites. Starting April 2025, Blue Man Group performances will take place Tuesday through Sunday and will be dark on Mondays.  Evening and matinee performances will take place one to two times daily. This is a win for ICON Park which is doing a great job at competing with three mega theme parks, in a small amount of space.

 #7

Disney began replacing the popular Ft Wilderness Cabins at Disney’s Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort with new, modern luxury cabins - also part of the Disney Vacation Club. These new cabins are nice inside but some people feel they Disney didn’t fully understand what Fort Wilderness is all about. Is it about luxury cabins with modern comforts or rustic retreats in old-school Florida? Let me know what you think in the comments below. All of the cabins will be upgraded by spring of 2025.

#6

Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, an addition to the Disney Vacation Club, opened in December 2024. This new tower offers a range of accommodations, including villas equipped with kitchens and patios. There’s a new restaurant offering beautiful views of the Severn Seas Lagoon and Cinderella Castle. Island Tower is not just for DVC members, a set number of rooms are available for non-members too. Rooms come in tiny studios with a Murphy bed to up to 2-bedroom penthouse villas. I have more information in my Video on Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, I’ll link to this video in the description.

#5

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers opened in October at Disney's BoardWalk to mixed reviews. This restaurant and bakery, which opened in October 2022, offers cakes, cookies, pastries, and sandwiches. The shop also features an afternoon tea service, where guests can enjoy a selection of teas, finger sandwiches, and desserts. Aside from the astronomical prices, like the $12 I paid for a coffee, I do think there’s an elevated level of service here and it has a beautiful atmosphere.

#4

Magic Kingdom Park will debut the "Disney Starlight" nighttime parade this summer. It will feature illuminated floats inspired by classic Disney films like "Cinderella," "Beauty and the Beast," and "The Little Mermaid," Elaborately costumed performers will dance and interact with guests to catchy music. The grand finale, starring Mickey Mouse and other beloved characters, will create a magical ending to a day at the park. On one hand, I’m not looking forward to yet another event that makes it impossible to walk up or down Main Street USA, but it is kind of nice to have a nighttime parade back in Magic Kingdom.

#3

Not to be outdone by the theme parks, Royal Caribbean will homeport Star of the Seas in Orlando’s Port Canaveral. Star of the Seas will be the largest cruise ship in the world, even larger than her sister ship, Icon of the Seas. Coming in August 2025, this mega-ship will offer 7-night Caribbean itineraries that include stops at Perfect Day at Coco Cay, the brand’s private island.

Star is set to bring eight neighborhoods that are destinations in themselves, The highlights include Thrill Island – with Category 6, the first waterpark at sea when

introduced on Icon, and its six record-breaking waterslides, Surfside – The neighborhood designed for young families is where they can stay and play all-day

Together The Hideaway – Hidden 135 feet above the ocean, is an adults-only spot that combines all the good vibes of beach club scenes around the world with a suspended infinity pool.

#2

Universal Orlando Resort is expanding its hotel options with the addition of three new hotels: Universal Stella Nova Resort, Universal Terra Luna Resort, and Universal Helios Grand Hotel. These resorts will add a combined total of 1,500 guest rooms to the Universal Orlando Resort complex.

Stella Luna and Terra Nova are priced as Prime Value hotels so around $200 per night.

A standout feature of these new accommodations is the inclusion of 750 rooms equipped with two queen beds, catering to families and groups. Guests can also enjoy diverse dining options, resort-style pools, game rooms, and other amenities.

Universal’s Helios Grand Hotel, opening May 22, 2025, at Epic Universe, offers exclusive perks for guests. A dedicated park entrance provides direct access to Epic Universe, while early park admission lets guests enter select attractions an hour before the public. The hotel features luxurious dining options, including Bar Helios, a rooftop lounge with panoramic views, and a resort-style pool that includes underwater speakers, a terraced deck, cabanas, and a hot tub. Helios Grand Hotel is a Universal Signature Hotel, with rates starting around $500 per night.

Universal Orlando Resort's Universal Epic Universe will open May 22, featuring over 50 attractions across five immersive worlds: Celestial Park immerses guests in living gardens and architecture inspired by astronomy and mythology. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Ministry of Magic blends Wizarding Paris from Fantastic Beasts with the British Ministry of Magic.

Super Nintendo World features the iconic green pipes alongside beloved characters Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong. How to Train Your Dragon-Isle of Berk offers a vibrant Viking realm inspired by the hit film franchise. Dark Universe reveals Dr. Victoria Frankenstein's experiments and a shadowy realm where monsters roam amid myth and mystery.

Is it just me or do you see fierce competition forming between Disney, Universal, and Royal Caribbean? Who has the best game plan for 2025? I’d love to know who you think will win out. Use the comments below to get the conversation started.

I recently made a video about Epic Universe and how it’s about to take over Orlando. Check that out now the link is coming up. And check out my website, OrlandoParksGuy.com for more vacation planning help, I’ll you there.

Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights 2025

2025 Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando: Tickets, Packages and Tips

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando

Halloween Horror Nights returns earlier than ever before on select nights, beginning August 29 through November 2, 2025. Guests can brace themselves for a spine-chilling experience, featuring terrifying haunted houses inspired by cinematic greats as well as eerie original stories.

Returning this year are the sinister scare zones, captivating live entertainment, exclusive merchandise, and themed food and beverage items, all contributing to the atmosphere of the world’s premier Halloween celebration. Prepare to confront your deepest fears in a truly immersive environment that promises thrills and chills for all who dare to enter.

Halloween Horror Nights Ticket Tips

Keep in mind that Halloween Horror Nights requires separate tickets, it’s not included with regular theme park admission. Tickets are also date-specific so you need to know the exact date you wish to attend. Tickets are also non-refundable and non-transferable. This is because they are sold in limited quantities. Prices also vary by the date selected. They cost less in August and September and on weekdays.

Halloween Horror Nights Packages

Packages for Halloween Horror Nights have not yet been released but check my Universal Offers Page for updates. I’ll post them there as soon as they become available.

Packages typically include a hotel stay, admission tickets to the theme parks plus Horror Nights tickets. It’s super convenient this way. This event ends around 2 am so I recommend staying at a Universal Hotel and taking advantage of Universal’s complimentary transportation.

Use the Universal Orlando Mobil App

Download The Universal Orlando Resort App for free before you arrive. Purchase event tickets and check out wait times, interactive maps, contact-free features, and more, so you know exactly where you want to scream.

  • Check wait times and showtimes with the interactive map.

  • Place Mobile Food & Drink Orders from select restaurants. Premier and Preferred Passholders can apply discounts to their order. Excludes alcohol.

  • Purchase tickets in the app and scan at the turnstile.

Make contactless payments using Universal Pay at quick-service restaurants and merchandise locations.

To get early admission to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando, consider the following options:

  1. Special Event Tickets: Purchase a separate ticket for the event that includes early entry. These tickets are often available for select nights and can be found on the official Universal Orlando website.

  2. Frequent Fear Pass: For those planning multiple visits, the Frequent Fear Pass allows entry on multiple nights and often includes early admission on select dates.

  3. Universal Orlando Hotel Guests: Stay at one of the Universal on-site hotels. Guests staying at these hotels often receive early admission benefits, allowing them to enter the event an hour before it opens to the general public.

  4. VIP Experience: Consider booking a VIP Experience option, which not only grants early access but also includes guided tours and priority access to houses and attractions.

  5. Annual Passholder Benefits: If you are an annual passholder, check for any exclusive offers that may include early admission to Halloween Horror Nights, as Universal frequently offers special perks to passholders.

  6. Arrive Early: On the night of the event, arriving at the park well before gates open can also increase your chances of enjoying the event sooner, even if early admission options aren’t available.

Plan ahead and check the official Universal Orlando site for the latest updates, ticket options, and policies, as these can change from year to year.
