Riding the Brightline Train from Orlando: A Complete Guide for Florida Travelers
Discover what it’s like to ride Brightline from Orlando to Aventura. From Premium Lounges to high-speed comfort, this is Florida travel reimagined. Watch my full journey on YouTube!
A New Way to Travel in Florida
If you’re planning a Florida vacation, you’ve probably already thought about flights, rental cars, and even driving yourself around the state. But what if I told you there’s a high-speed train that makes travel between Orlando and South Florida not only easier—but way more enjoyable?
A northbound Brightline train arrives at Aventura for an afternoon run to Orlando.
That’s exactly what Brightline offers. This sleek, modern train service connects Orlando with cities like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Aventura, reaching speeds up to 125 mph. For family vacationers, Orlando travelers, and anyone who loves theme parks and cruises, Brightline is quickly becoming one of the best ways to get around Florida.
I recently took the Brightline from Orlando to Aventura, and I filmed the entire experience so you can see exactly what it’s like. Spoiler alert: it feels less like a train ride and more like flying business class on the ground. You can watch my full journey here 👇

🏟️ Starting at the Brightline Orlando Station
My trip began at the brand-new Brightline Orlando Station, located at Orlando International Airport. If you’re flying into Orlando for a Disney World or Universal Orlando vacation, this is incredibly convenient—you can land, grab your luggage, and head straight for the train without ever stepping outside.
The station itself feels more like an airport terminal than a train station. It’s spacious, modern, and built with travelers in mind. There’s plenty of seating, a check-in process that’s smooth and easy, and if you’ve booked Premium Class, you’ll have access to the Premium Lounge, which is a game-changer.
🍷 Inside the Brightline Premium Lounge
Brightline has two ticket options: Smart Class (their standard option) and Premium Class, which offers a more elevated travel experience. Since I wanted to see what all the hype was about, I opted for Premium.
Breakfast offerings at the Premium Lounge at the Brightline Orlando Train Station
The Premium Lounge in Orlando was impressive. Comfortable seating, complimentary snacks and drinks (yes, even wine and beer), and a quiet place to relax before boarding. If you’re traveling with kids, it’s also a lifesaver because it gives everyone space to decompress before hopping on the train.
This lounge alone already had me feeling like I was about to fly, not take a train.
🚄 All Aboard: The Brightline Train Experience
When it was time to board, the process was simple. Premium passengers board first, and the staff made everything easy. Walking into the Premium car, the first thing I noticed was how spacious and comfortable the seating was compared to what you might expect from a traditional train.
Seats: Wide, cushioned, and designed for comfort
Legroom: Plenty of space, even if you’re tall
Service: Complimentary drinks and snacks brought right to your seat
Wi-Fi and Outlets: Perfect for staying connected or charging devices
Brightline markets itself as a “different kind of train experience,” and they’re not kidding. Traveling at 125 mph while sipping a complimentary drink and stretching out in a comfy seat felt worlds away from the cramped flights and long car rides I’ve taken in Florida before.
📍 Arriving at Aventura Station
After a smooth ride, I arrived at Aventura Station, which is another beautifully designed stop along Brightline’s route. The station sits conveniently near Aventura Mall, one of the largest malls in Florida, and it’s a great jumping-off point if you’re planning to continue into Miami or Fort Lauderdale.
Aventura Station | Brightline
For my trip, I explored some of the local attractions around Aventura, including food spots and shopping. This is one of the perks of Brightline—it doesn’t just drop you off in a random spot; stations are strategically placed near major hubs.
👨👩👧 Why Brightline is Perfect for Orlando Family Vacations
If you’re visiting Orlando for Disney World, Universal Orlando, or even a cruise out of Port Canaveral, Brightline adds a new option for extending your trip. Here’s why I think it’s perfect for families and vacationers:
No Rental Cars Needed – Skip the hassle of driving on I-95.
Stress-Free Travel – No long TSA lines like the airport.
Comfort for Kids – Spacious seating, Wi-Fi, and the ability to move around.
Easy Connections – Arrive in Orlando, hop on Brightline, and head straight to South Florida.
It’s also worth mentioning that for grandparents or extended family joining you in Florida, this is a safe and easy way for them to travel, too.
🎥 See the Full Journey on YouTube
I can tell you all about Brightline, but the truth is—you really need to see it to believe it. From the station in Orlando to the Premium Lounge, to the 125-mph ride itself, I captured it all in my video.

If you’re planning a Florida trip, whether for theme parks, a cruise, or just to explore, Brightline might be the most enjoyable way to get around. I know I’ll be taking it again.
📝 Final Thoughts
Brightline is more than just a train. It’s a new way to experience Florida travel that’s faster, more comfortable, and, honestly, a lot more fun than I expected. For Orlando travelers, family vacationers, or anyone curious about theme park getaways, Brightline is a fantastic addition to your trip.

Halloween Horror Nights 2025 at Universal Orlando: Haunted Houses, Scare Zones & Tickets
From 10 all-new haunted houses to chilling scare zones and roaming scareactors, every corner of the park promises heart-pounding thrills. I braved the darkness myself, and trust me—this year is not for the faint of heart.
Some of my favorite haunts include stepping into Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria in Five Nights at Freddy’s, escaping Art the Clown’s gruesome Terrifier funhouse, and exploring the eerie wasteland of Prime Video’s Fallout.
Plus, Jason Voorhees is back for vengeance in Jason Universe, and Universal’s Entertainment team has unleashed original nightmares like Dolls: Let’s Play Dead and Grave of Flesh—each house more terrifying than the last.
The horror doesn’t stop at the houses—four new scare zones like Masquerade: Dance with Death and Mutations: Toxic Twenties keep you on edge, while roaming scareactors (including Art the Clown himself!) make hiding nearly impossible.
When you need a break, check out jaw-dropping shows like Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay, shop chilling merch in the new Tribute Store, or grab themed bites and drinks like the Clown Café Bloody Popcorn or Radaway from Fallout.
Tickets, vacation packages, and upgrades like Express Passes and R.I.P. Tours are on sale now, and staying onsite comes with amazing perks like Early Park Admission and dedicated entry gates.

Universal Orlando Introduces Photo Validation for Express Pass Line Access.
This amazing new technology will speed up the lines at Universal Orlando
The next time you visit Universal Orlando Resort, you will be able to experience Effortless Entry using Photo Validation with a Universal Express Pass. After you have enrolled in Photo Validation at the theme park entrance, you’ll be able to bypass the regular line at select attractions in Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure without scanning your physical Universal Express Pass!
I love this technology because it saves a lot of time. Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal uses this instead of having to scan your Passport now. The line for customers doesn’t stop - people walk up to the camera, pause for a spit second, and then off they go.
Universal Orlando has been using Photo Validation technology to enter the theme parks as well. This significantly cuts down on the time it used to take to enter the theme parks, especially during the morning rush.
Here’s how Photo Validation works at Universal Orlando
Scan your ticket at the park entrance. You’ll still need to bring your tickets and your Express Passes each time you visit.
Pose for the camera as the system creates a Photo Template that will be used to verify your identity.
Once you’re verified, you are good to go and enjoy the attractions.
Here’s a tip: Before you visit the parks, make sure you link your park tickets to your Universal Account Wallet. This will give you a head start on unlocking a more seamless experience with Photo Validation when you arrive at the park entrance.
Frequently Asked Questions about Photo Validation at Universal Orlando
What is Photo Validation?
Photo Validation is a faster and more seamless way for our Guests to access select experiences throughout Universal Orlando Resort during their visit.
How Does Photo Validation Work?
Upon entering the theme parks, Guests will now be asked to take a photo instead of scanning their fingerprint. This photo will be securely stored and used to generate a Photo Template, which will validate admission and other entitlements during their current and future visits.
Can a Guest opt back in to Photo Validation?
Yes, Guests who opt-out and want to enroll in Photo Validation can do so at the park entrance, Guest Services, or in Universal Express lines at select attractions during the technical rehearsal period.
How is Photo Validation being used at Universal Orlando?
We use Photo Validation to verify tickets and ticket holders – making it a faster and more seamless way for our guests to access select experiences during their visit. Photo Validation is currently used at the park entrances of Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida, and Universal Volcano Bay. Now, Guests may also use Photo Validation to verify and use their Universal Express Pass at select attractions throughout Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida during this technical rehearsal period.

Universal Orlando Using Facial Recognition to Enter Theme Parks
Universal Orlando Resort is using a new way for guests to enter its theme parks. If you have ever been to Universal Orlando at rope-drop, you know that getting into the parks was painfully slow.
Well, the facial recognition system isn’t much faster. On our visit, the system processed one person every 15 sections, on average, that’s about 4 people per minute.
Facial recognition at Universal Orlando Resort
With Photo Validation at Park Entry, you just scan your theme park ticket, look at the camera, and enter the park.
Photo recognition replaces the biometric finger scan at the turnstiles.
I don’t know about you, but the thought of placing my finger in the exact same spot as thousands of other people was unsettling, especially post-pandemic.
Photo Validation is optional and is not required for entry into the Universal Orlando Parks.
Guests will be able to opt-out directly at Park Entry if they desire.
If a Guest chooses to opt-out of Photo Validation, they are required to show a valid Photo ID upon entry to validate their entitlement.
Guests will not need to do anything separate like pre-enroll. The setup process is easy and done right at the turnstile when you enter the parks, starting today!
Have questions about planning your Orlando vacation? I have answers! Contact me now to get more out of your vacation.
Universal Orlando has provided these Frequently Asked Questions about how to enter the Universal Orlando Theme Parks using facial recognition technology.
What data does Universal Orlando collect?
Universal Orlando takes a photo the first time a Guest uses their entitlement. From that photo, the software builds a Photo Template. A Photo Template is a unique set of data points based on facial features. On subsequent entries to Universal Orlando Resort, the Photo Template created on entry will be compared to the stored templates to validate access and prevent fraud.
Will there be a separate entrance for Guests who opt out of Photo Validation?
No. Guests who opt out of Photo Validation will still be able to use the regular park entrance. Opting out simply tells our access control system to not prompt for Photo Validation when that Guest’s ticket is scanned. Guests who opt out of Photo Validation will be asked to present photo ID each time they use their entitlement.
Can a Guest opt back in to Photo Validation?
Yes, Guests who opt-out and want to opt back in can do so at the park entrance or Guest Services.
Does Photo Validation work in the dark?
Yes, the camera works in low-light and nighttime environments.
How long will the images be stored in your system?
Photo Templates will be stored for no longer than six months after the expiration of the associated ticket or other entitlement. This is consistent with our finger scan biometric process.
Is Photo Validation accessible to Guests in wheelchairs?
Yes. Photo Validation was created with all Guests in mind. Our cameras were built with a field of view to be able to validate Guests whether tall, short, seated in a wheelchair, and more!
Is there anything different Guests need to do before they get to the gate?
No, they simply approach the park entrance with their park ticket ready - just like they would today.
If I opt out after using Photo Validation for the first time, is my information deleted?
Once a guest opts out of Photo Validation, any images or Photo Templates created / stored are deleted.
If I opt out of Photo Validation, what happens?
If a Guest decides to opt out of Photo Validation, they will continue to enter the park using the same lanes as guests who do use Photo Validation. The only difference that a Guest who has opted out will experience is that they will be required to present a valid Photo ID to validate their ticket.

Insider’s Guide to the Universal Orlando Mobile App
Using the Universal Orlando Mobile App
The official Universal Orlando Resort mobile app includes a variety of tools and resources to help you before and during your Universal Orlando vacation.
The Universal Orlando app allows you to
Link park tickets
Place mobile food and drink orders

Create your own "must-do" list
Explore park maps and so much more
Insider Tip: The map has helpful features like Express Pass-enabled locations, height restrictions, show times, dietary options, and more.
Download the official mobile app (it’s free)
Once you download the app, create or sign in to your Universal account.
Set up your wallet
The wallet feature is known as Universal Pay. Using Universal Pay makes your day easier.
It’s most helpful when ordering food because Universal Orlando encourages mobile orders at quick-service restaurants.
You can place an order and pay for it right in the app (more on this below).
Using Universal Pay at Volcano Bay Water Park
Going to Volcano Bay water park? (It’s only the best water park in Orlando!) Leave your phone in your locker or in your beach bag and your bag of rice at home, you’re phone won’t be getting wet here.
You can purchase food, beverages, and merchandise using Tapu Tapu, a waterproof wristband that is provided upon entry to the park.
Use Tapu Tapu anywhere Universal Pay is accepted in the park. No need to carry your phone, cash, or cards in your bathing suit.
You can also set up and manage sub-accounts for others in your party and set spending limits so they can make purchases with Tapu Tapu as well. See my Tips for Volcano Bay here.

Tap the heart on your favorite attractions to add them to your favorites list, making it easy to reference wait times and attraction details once you are in the park.
Doing this helps ensure that you won’t miss any must-dos while touring the parks.

If you booked a vacation package with me, you’ll pick up your tickets when you arrive at your Universal Orlando hotel.
To add a ticket to the mobile app, select “Scan Tickets & Add Ons” to scan the back of your ticket or enter your ticket number (located under the barcode).
If you need help, just ask a Team Member at the ticket desk, located inside the hotel lobby.
Placing Mobile Food and Drink Orders
Order ahead from select restaurants when you’re in the theme parks and at CityWalk.
How to place your mobile order
Open the side navigation and select "Mobile Food & Drink Ordering"
Select an available restaurant
Browse menu options and make customizations
Tap “Prepare My Order”
Wait at the pickup window to receive your order
Join Virtual Lines at Universal Orlando
During busier times of the year, some of Universal Orlando’s most popular attractions allow you to join a Virtual Line. Rather than stand in a physical line, you can reserve a time to ride and go off to enjoy other areas of the park. This feature is free.
Here’s how Virtual Lines work:
Pick your ride in the app
Join the queue for a time window that works for you
Show the Team Member your phone to scan and enter the attraction
The app will display the attractions that are offering a Virtual Line, if any. You can almost always find Race Through New York starring Jimmy Fallon as an option.
Depending on how crowded the park is, Universal may also offer Virtual Line on the following:
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
Fast & Furious: Supercharged
Revenge of the Mummy
Universal Orlando adjusts Virtual Line throughout the day. The day may start off without any Virtual Lines being offered but as the park gets busier, some Virtual Lines may begin to come online. Universal may also remove the option during the day if it’s no longer needed - but they will still honor existing reservations.
Insider Tip! I recommend you check for Virtual Lines starting 20 minutes prior to the park opening time.
Insider Tip! Use the “Wait Time Alert” feature on the app to get notified if the wait for a favorite attraction is under a certain time. For example, you can set up an alert to be notified if the wait for Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure drops below 60 minutes.
