Disney Closes Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Reservation Line Indefinitely. What We Know So Far:

Disney World experiences some growing pains with Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser opening.

Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser hotel at Walt Disney World — Disney has closed phone lines for Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser , 7-days and counting with no further updates.

The official opening date for Star Wars Galactic Star Cruiser was March 1st, however it appears Disney is experiencing some growing pains.

Disney unexpectedly closed the phone lines to Galactic Starcruiser, 1 week ago today, and has not provided a reopening date.

If you have requested a quote from me, or if you have an existing reservation, please know Disney is not allowing us to us to book new reservations or to service existing reservations during this time.

What We Know So Far:

The booking system and phone lines for Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser remain closed. The phone lines went down on February 27, 2022 for an unspecified reason.

The availability calendar frequently disappears from Walt Disney World website. When it does appear, you’ll get a message asking you to call to confirm availability or to contact your travel advisor. (but please know that I cannot call. The phone number that I use is also closed).

During this time, guests are not able to make modifications or cancel existing reservations.

If you have a past due payment, your reservation will not automatically cancel, according to a conversation I had with Guest Services at Walt Disney World.

Cast Members at the Walt Disney World reservation line are unable to help with Starcruiser reservations. They will advise you to call back when the phones reopen at Starcruiser.

A Disney World Must-Do - Wild Africa Trek at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park!

Wild Africa Trek is one of the best tours available at Walt Disney World. Here are some of the highlights from my recent expedition at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

Wild Africa Trek is back at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and my son and I were among the first to head out on the trail.

This is one of the most popular guided tours offered at Walt Disney World Resort because it allows you to get up close to the animals.

Wild Africa Trek is a three hour adventure that takes you on foot and by truck through hidden trails, suspension bridges, and scenic overlooks.

You’ll also make a stop for lunch right in the middle of the savanna and enjoy breathtaking views of the animals.

We had an amazing time on this tour, it was worth every penny and although the animals were spectacular, it was our guides that really made this tour special.

They were truly excited to take us out on the savanna. It’s obvious that they really love the animals and and doing these tours.

After checking in at the entrance to Kilimanjaro Safaris, we met our guides and the other members of group. There were about 10 of us in all.

Our guides reviewed some rules and assisted with the gear we needed for our trek.

We were given safari vests, a ear piece so we could hear our guides, and a water bottle.

We were allowed to bring our phones for photos, but everything else had to be stored in lockers.

After a safety briefing, we were off right away, starting with the Gorilla Falls Expedition Trail.

There’s a secret entrance on the trail that leads you to the savanna. You would never spot it in a million years!

We soon made our way into the woods heading towards the savanna, stopping to see some of the animals from unique viewing locations.

My favorite animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are the meerkats, they are so funny - cute too! They were surprised to see us appear from a backstage area.

We were joined by some of the hippo caretakers who shared some fun facts with us. They brought some lettuce and watermelon with them so we could watch them enjoy a snack.

Hippos eat a whole watermelon with the same effort as a person eating a cookie. It’s remarkable to see.

To get up close and personal, our guides locked us in to a tether strap that allowed us to walk right the edge (without falling in).

It’s pretty cool to see part of Kilimanjaro Safaris from a different angle. This is the noisy bridge the safari vehicles go over.

Back on the trail again. As were walking, our guides are talking to us through our headphones. They definitely keep you engaged throughout the entire tour.

We arrived at this tower, the starting point of the suspension bridge. After a quick safety spiel and a check of our gear, we started to climb up.

This was, to me, the highlight of Wild Africa Trek! An “Indiana Jones” style bridge that has seen better days. Yes, it bounces and sways as you go over.

Our guides locked us in with a harness so there was no chance we could fall.

This is the first of 2 bridges. First you’ll pass over more hippos. The second bridge takes you over the crocodile habitat.

You have to be ok with heights here and you should be reasonably steady on your feet. The bridge bounces and sways as you walk across it. 2-3 people are allowed to cross at one time.

You can go at your own pace and stop as often as you like for photos.

After making it to the other side of the bridges, we had an opportunity to get up close to the crocs.

We were once again wearing a tether so we didn’t accidentally fall in and become a snack.

Continuing on the trail, this time we were headed to a special safari vehicle.

We drove onto the savanna following the same road as the regular safari, but we pulled over a lot take in the views, and the animals.

Our guides were answering our questions along the way.

We stopped for lunch in right on the savanna.

Lunch comes in metal tiffins, it’s like a compartmentalized lunch box.

Inside we found chicken curry salad, sun-dried tomato hummus and mini pita, marinated tandoori shrimp, smoked salmon roulade with dill, air-dried beef and prosciutto, and fresh fruit marinated in mint and ginger.

My son and I are not foodies, so it was a little adventurous for us. But we actually enjoyed it!

I’m told it was an authentic safari lunch.

While our guides were preparing lunch we were able to photograph the animals and take photos.

When you ride Kilimanjaro Safaris, you don’t get to spend a lot of time on the savanna, it’s more of a summary of the savanna..

But when you’re here for a while, you can really appreciate just how magnificent the animals are. I didn’t know they wander all over and that they are actually very playful.

That’s not something you can really observe while on the safari ride. The animals tend to do stand still for 5-10 minutes at a time, followed by bursts jumping around and chasing each other.

If you really want to observe their playful side, WIld Africa Trek is the best place to see that.

I was really surprised to see how many animals wander all over the savanna. Whenever I was on the ride, I just assumed the animals had their little zone and pretty much stayed in one place. Not true!

Many of them migrate by nature, so they need to be able to roam the savanna.

We has a such a great adventure on Wild Africa Trek. Everyone made it back, no one was eaten by the crocs.

This was definitely one of the best tours we’ve ever been on at Disney World.

Our guides pointed out a hidden reference to Joe Rhode. He was the principal designer of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and a brilliant Imagineer. Joe retired recently and was given a little credit here for his work on Animal Kingdom park.

Wild Africa Trek requires reservations.

The cost of the tour ranges from $185 - $250 per person, depending on the time and date you choose.

There are usually 2 -3 tours offered daily. To book a tour, contact your travel agent or visit the Disney World website (disneyworld.com).

Separate Valid Admission and Park Reservation for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is required.

Guests must be at least 8 years of age to attend this experience.

Due to height restrictions for specific areas during the tour, participants must meet the minimum height requirement of 48 inches (122 cm) or may not participate.

Due to weight restrictions for specific areas during the tour, participants must weigh between 45 and 300 lbs (20.14-136 kg) or may not participate.

Excursion occurs rain or shine, with the exception of severe weather or lightning.

Disney Cruise Line: Disney Dream Sold Out for Summer, Fall 2022

If you have been trying to book a summer 2022 vacation you know how difficult it has been trying to find availability at popular destinations like Disney Cruise Line, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.

Now the Disney Wish will begin sailing out of Port Canaveral in mid-July 2022. More details will be announced on February 8, 2022.

This complicated an already busy cruise season as guests on the Disney Wish were given priority to rebook or to receive a Future Cruise Credit.

The future of the Disney Dream is also uncertain. It was scheduled to begin sailing out of the Miami area once the Disney Wish arrived.

Now is the best time to book a summer cruise in order to get the best prices. If you’re a seasoned cruiser you already know this.

Fortunately Royal Caribbean Cruise Line still has availability out of Port Canaveral, Florida. RCCL also offers family-centered cruise vacations, similar to Disney Cruise Line, often for a lot less.

While I’m sure there is a lot of disappointment around this, I’d rather that Disney get it right rather than rush it. I’m sure it will be worth the wait.

But right now is the best time to book your Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas.

Disney Cruise Line Approved to Build Second Cruise Terminal in South Florida

Disney Cruise Line will make Port Everglades a home port, just in time for high speed rail service between Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Disney Cruise Line will base two ships in Fort Lauderdale's Port Everglades, with one ship sailing year-round starting in fall 2023 and a second seasonal ship joining in 2025.

This is a master plan finally coming to fruition: 2 new cruise ships, a second home port in South Florida, a dedicated terminal designed and operated by Disney, and a high speed rail line connecting Orlando to Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.

Brightline Train Service to Orlando Map — Brightline train service connecting Miami to Orlando will begin in 2022 stopping Orlando International Airport. A station at Disney Springs as been announced as well.

Brightline Railroad is actively constructing a new rail line that will connect Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, where Port Everglades is located.

There will be two stations in Orlando: Orlando International Airport starting in 2022 and Disney Springs at Walt Disney World in the near future.

Passengers will be able to travel between both regions in under 2 hours via the high speed train.

Port Everglades

Port Everglades is a massive sea port open to cruise ships and cargo ships from around the world.

Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Port Everglades is ranked third among cruise ports worldwide and has more homeported cruise ships than any other port.

Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Princess and Ritz Carlton Yachts also call Port Everglades home.

Disney said that adding Port Everglades as a second Florida homeport gives it a foothold in a market with one of the nation's fastest-growing airports, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Disney has a custom-designed terminal at Port Canaveral, a cruise port that is a gateway to Walt Disney World in Orlando.

The Disney Wish will sail from Port Canaveral when it enters service next summer and the Disney Dream is expected to begin sailing from Port Everglades in 2023.

2022 Epcot International Festival of the Arts

The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts kicks off Jan. 14 and runs through Feb. 21, 2022. The festival is extra magical since it’s taking place during The World’s Most Magical Celebration honoring the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort.

Yes, the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is a big hit, but having experienced the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts for the past few years now, I have to say it’s actually my favorite event at Epcot.

For one, you won’t find the “drink around the world” college kids partying World Showcase. But I like it because there are a number of interactive elements, like the giant ‘Paint By Numbers Wall” and a number of creative projects taking shape right in front of you - such as the elaborate chalk art right on some Epcot’s sidewalks.

This year, the Epcot International Festival of the Arts kicks off Jan. 14 and runs through Feb. 21, 2022.

Don’t Miss These Festival Highlights

The popular DISNEY ON BROADWAY Concert Series returns, with three shows each evening headlined by Broadway stars performing beloved songs from more than 25 years of award-winning stage productions.

This is an excellent way to enjoy Disney on Broadway music without having to buy pricey (but worth it!) tickets for a Broadway show.

These shows are extremely popular! I recommend purchasing a DISNEY ON BROADWAY Dining Package. These packages allow you to enjoy a great lunch or dinner at Epcot and guaranteed admission to the performance.

Snapshot of Royal Caribbean's Testing Requirments

Royal Caribbean is making it easier for families to cruise together. Here’s the updated list of healthy saiding protocols

There’s been a change to Royal Caribbean’s Pre-Cruise and Embark testing requirements for unvaccinated guests age 2 - 11 for sailings departing on or after December 17, 2021.

RCCL will now accept a negative PCR test result to satisfy the Pre-Cruise testing requirement for this age group.

Additionally, instead of taking a PCR test at embarkation, unvaccinated guests age 2 - 11 will receive a complimentary antigen test.

This change will allow for a smoother start to your young cruisers sailing and embarkation. These protocols are subject to change.

What’s the difference between a PCR test and an antigen test?

The antigen test is used to quickly determine if you are at risk of spreading the virus. Rapid antigen tests are often used at places of work and for travel. Results are ready in 15 minutes.

PCR tests are considered the most accurate and can detect the virus even in those not experiencing symptoms. Results can take a bit longer. If taking a PCR test at home, be sure to follow the directions carefully.

All guests 12 and older must be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before sailing. Guests under the age of 12, who are considered fully vaccinated, should follow the guidance for vaccinated guests below. Children with one dose of a vaccine do not count as fully vaccinated for the purpose of sailing. Click here to learn more.

Pre-Cruise: All guests 2 years and older must present a negative COVID-19 test result.

Vaccinated guests ages 12 and over: PCR or antigen test must be taken no more than 2 days prior to sailing.
UPDATED! Unvaccinated children ages 2 to 11: PCR test must be taken no more than 3 days prior to sailing — but not on boarding day. Antigen tests are not accepted for unvaccinated guests.
No testing required for guests under age 2.

Pre-cruise testing costs and scheduling are the guest's responsibility.

UPDATED! Embarkation Day: Unvaccinated guests ages 2 to 11 will take a complimentary antigen test for COVID-19 during check-in. Registration details will be sent via email in advance.

Onboard: For sailings that are 5 nights or longer, unvaccinated guests ages 2 to 11 will take a complimentary antigen test prior to debark. Sailings longer than 10 nights may have additional onboard testing requirements. Registration details will be provided onboard.

Princess Fairytale Hall at Magic Kingdom is already welcoming guests who are looking to meet Cinderella and a visiting princess or two. Even more interactions are on the way in 2022 at this magnificent location.

Speaking of Disney princesses and characters, you can now find them throughout World Showcase in Epcot. I’ve spotted Snow White, Jasmine, Belle, Aurora, Anna and Elsa, Mulan, and Mary Poppins, all posing for photos in their respective countries with scenic backdrops.

Mickey Mouse has returned to Magic Kingdom and is posing for photos at the Town Square Theater on Main Street USA.

Magic Kingdom - Santa appears during the Very Merriest After Hours event as part of the holiday parade. This is a seperate ticketed event.

Epcot - You can say hi to Santa at the American Adventure. Also, the storytellers have returned to World Showcase. Father Christmas will be at the United Kingdom pavilion. In Norway, you can hear the humerus story of Sigrid and the tricky Barn Santa. In France, Père Noël, will be reading the letter of a child and their holidays wishes.

Hollywood Studios - Santa will be in the Merry MotorCars parade waving to guests.

Animal Kingdom - Santa will pass by on a special float along Discovery River.

Disney Cruise Line to Require All Passengers age 5+ to Be Vaccinated

Disney Cruise Line has updated its COVID-19 Policies. All passengers who are eligible for a vaccine must be fully vaccinated prior to sailing. Plus updates for those who are not vaccine-eligible. Read more…

Disney Cruise Line continues to require all vaccine-eligible Guests (based on U.S. eligibility requirements) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time of sailing, as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Disney Cruise Line will require all Guests ages 5 and older to be fully vaccinated for sailings beginning on and after January 13, 2022.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines fully vaccinated as 14 days after receiving:

a single-dose of an accepted 1-dose vaccine
the second dose of an accepted 2-dose vaccine
the full series of an active (not placebo) COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S.-based AstraZeneca or Novavax COVID-19 vaccine trials
the second dose of any “mix-and-match” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines (administered at least 17 days apart)

Pre-Trip COVID-19 Testing:

Guests who are not vaccine-eligible, because of age, must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (paid for by the Guest) taken between 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date.

Guests ages 5-11 may show a negative COVID-19 test in lieu of being fully vaccinated for sailings that depart before January 13, 2022. The test must be taken prior to sailing taken 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date.

Guests 4 years of age and under must show a negative test prior to sailing taken 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date.

COVID regulations change frequently in the cruise industry. This is why you want to book your cruise with a travel agent who will keep you updated and answer any questions you have.
