Where to Dine for Free on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas

Sailing on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas? You don’t have to spend extra to eat well! I explored every included dining spot onboard — from buffets and pizza to tacos and elegant dinners. Here’s my first-hand guide to the best free restaurants so you can plan your perfect foodie cruise.

Picture of plates of food with a anther picture of Utopia of the Seas cruise ship

If you’re like me, one of the best parts of cruising is the food. And on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas, there’s no shortage of incredible included dining options. That’s right — many of the best meals onboard are already covered in your cruise fare. As someone who loves both eating well and saving money, I made it my mission to try all the Utopia of the Seas restaurants where you can dine for free.

Below, I’m sharing my favorites — from poolside snacks to elegant dinners — so you can plan your foodie adventure at sea.

Windjammer Marketplace

The Windjammer is my go-to spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s buffet-style, with a massive variety of dishes from around the world. I love grabbing a plate of fresh fruit in the morning or sampling new international flavors at night.

Main Dining Room

Every evening brings a new three-course menu — and it’s all included. Think lobster tail on formal night, filet mignon, or escargot. The atmosphere is beautiful, but there’s no strict dress code, so I often keep it casual.

Sorrento’s Pizza

Located on the Royal Promenade, Sorrento’s serves pizza until late at night. Perfect after a show or a few hours of dancing.

Café Promenade

Open 24 hours, this spot keeps me fueled with coffee, pastries, and light bites.

Park Café

Tucked in Central Park, it’s quieter and perfect for breakfast or a light lunch. Don’t miss the fresh salads and sandwiches.

Solarium Bistro

Mediterranean-inspired and steps from the adults-only Solarium — I come here for fresh Greek salads, tzatziki, and lamb chops.

El Loco Fresh

Poolside tacos, burritos, and nachos? Yes, please.

Boardwalk Dog House

Gourmet hot dogs with a variety of toppings. A must-try on a sunny day.

The Spare Tire

This new poolside food truck has incredible pulled pork sandwiches and flatbreads.

Room Service (Some Items)

Continental breakfast is free — great for slow mornings on the balcony.

Watch my full video guide to see these dining spots in action:

If you’re planning a Royal Caribbean cruise from Florida, make sure you save this list. The free dining on Utopia of the Seas is worth the trip alone.

Star of the Seas Arrives in Puerto Rico

Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, Star of the Seas, made a stunning arrival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, ahead of her highly anticipated debut from Port Canaveral. This next-generation Oasis Class vessel is set to sail exciting Caribbean itineraries, giving cruisers a sneak peek at her ports of call before she begins regular voyages from Florida.

Star of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest Icon-class vessel, recently made a technical call at the port of Ponce, Puerto Rico, marking a key step as it prepares for its official debut.

The ship arrived on August 4, 2025, after crossing the Atlantic Ocean for the first time.

According to local reports, the Star of the Seas will remain docked in Ponce for three days.

Star of the Seas arrives in Puerto Rico on August 5, 2025.

Prior to its Puerto Rican stop, the LNG-powered ship also conducted a technical visit to Cadiz, Spain.

The vessel, delivered by the Meyer Turky shipyard in July 2025, is set to welcome its first paying passengers on August 16, 2025.

On that date, it will commence a series of preview cruises from its homeport at Port Canaveral, featuring three- and four-night itineraries that include stops at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.

Following its preview cruises, the Star of the Seas will be christened by singer and actress Diana Ross, its godmother, before embarking on its maiden official cruise on August 31, 2025.

As the second ship in the Icon-class series, Star of the Seas is designed to offer weeklong Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral. The itineraries will cover a variety of destinations in both the Western and Eastern Caribbean, including San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Cozumel, Mexico; and Basseterre, St. Kitts. Every cruise will feature a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Royal Caribbean continues to expand the Icon-class fleet, with two more ships expected to join Star of the Seas in the near future, promising to further enhance Caribbean cruising options from Florida.

The first to debut will be the new Legend of the Seas, scheduled to begin service in the Mediterranean in 2026.

This ship will mark a significant addition to Royal Caribbean's fleet, offering enhanced features and experiences tailored to the Mediterranean cruising market.

Following the Legend of the Seas, a fourth, yet-to-be-named vessel is planned to enter service in 2027, continuing the expansion and modernization of the fleet.

Both ships are expected to deliver innovative amenities and cutting-edge design, further elevating the cruising experience for guests in the upcoming years.

Why This Matters for Orlando Parks Fans

Sure, Orlando has its splashes, but the Royal Beach Club offers a unique shore-side escape exclusive to Royal Caribbean guests. It blends private-venue vibes with Bahamian flair—lightning-fast ferry, upscale amenities, and lively zones—delivering a premium, eco-friendly outreach beyond theme park gates. Plus, it signals the future of cruise-destination partnerships.

Many Royal Caribbean cruises with a Bahamas itinerary that depart from Orlando (Port Canaveral) stop in Nassau.

Final Takeaway

Royal Beach Club Paradise Island is shaping up to be a luxurious, well-rounded shore excursion—ideal for families, party lovers, and those seeking relaxation. With its all-inclusive design, limited capacity, and Bahamian-led development, it's a fresh offering for cruise fans planning a Nassau stop. 6 Tips for Royal Caribbean Cruises

My best tips for getting started with Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean is the world’s largest cruise line. They pride themselves on creating premium family-friendly cruises with activities for everyone - from adults only to things families can enjoy together. But there’s a lot to know when booking a cruise if you want to have a great time.

TIPS FOR ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRUISES

I help clients plan Royal Caribbean cruises every day and have a lot of experience in helping them get the most out of their vacation.

Here are my favorite tips for clients when getting started with a Royal Caribbean cruise.

#6 Book as early as possible

Cruise lines operate just like the airline industry in that they reward people who book early by offering lower fares. The best time to book a cruise is 12 - 18 months in advance.

Those who book early also have more choices when it comes to selecting a stateroom on the ship.

Last-minute cruise deals are not a thing anymore. They are very rare and often when you see them posted online, they are already sold out when you try to book.

#5 Use a travel agent

Using a Royal Caribbean travel agent is free! There are no built-in costs or hidden fees. I offer you expert, insider tips and professional responses to all your questions. It’s like having your own personal account manager just for your vacation. Want me to plan your cruise with you? Get started here in one click.

#4 Buy beverage and internet packages in advance

Royal Caribbean offers adult beverage packages and soft drink packages. Package prices are higher onboard.

Bonus tip: wait a week or two after you book your cruise to see if you get an email offer for discounted beverage packages. If you get an email, forward it to me so I can apply it to your reservation for you.

#3 Book a balcony stateroom

While it may be tempting to book an interior room or an oceanview room (porthole) to save money, a balcony room may cost just a little more. On the newer ships, there are more balcony staterooms than any other kind of room. Most of my clients who book non-balcony rooms, almost always try to upgrade later on (but see Tip #1).

#2 Arrive a day or two before the cruise

If you experience a flight delay or cancellation, the ship will leave without you if you’re late! You should never fly the same day you are cruising.

If you’re cruising from Orlando (Port Canaveral), why not make it a Land and Sea vacation? Spend a few days at Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando Resort and then embark on your cruise vacation. I help clients with Land and Sea vacations in Orlando all the time and have great recommendations for you.

#1 Book a cruise on an Oasis Class ship

Oasis Class ships have more than 16 decks, 20 restaurants, 7 distinct neighborhoods bustling with unique onboard experiences, and endless thrills to discover. These are the world’s largest cruise ships so they offer something for everyone.

You can usually find at least one Oasis Class ship, sailing from Orlando and Miami, Florida but they do travel the world. You can also find them in Europe and Asia.

Liberty of the Seas Review and Tips - Royal Caribbean

My best tips for sailing on Liberty of the Seas - Royal Caibbean

Ship Summary

Liberty of the Seas is one a middle-aged cruise ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet. known for its vast array of onboard amenities and activities. Built in 2007 by Royal Caribbean, Liberty of the Seas was the largest cruise ship ever built at the time, joining her sister ship, Freedom of the Seas. She can carry 3,600 guests and 1,360 crew. Shortly after, Independence of the Seas was delivered rounding out the Freedom Class ship category in Royal Caribbean’s fleet.

Liberty of the Seas
liberty-of-the-seas.jpg

Her last major refurbishment was in 2016 but she missed an important update scheduled for 2020 due to the pandemic.

Liberty is a fine ship, at one the pride and joy of Royal Caribbean’s fleet, but today her staterooms feel a little dated and she has fewer features than her sister ships Freedom and Independence.

For this reason, Liberty usually has bargain fares.

Why It’s Popular

  • Splashaway Bay Aquapark

  • Perfect Storm water slides

  • Ice skating rink

  • One of the few ships that still has Sabour Mexican Restaurant

  • Vitality Spa

  • Priced lower than other Freedom Class ships

liberty-of-the-seas.jpg

Entertainment

Studio B (Deck 3, midship) is home to "Encore! An Ice Spectacular," which is performed twice on the cruise. You should arrive early to get a good seat, this is one of the most popular shows on the ship

Platinum Theater - Located on Decks 2, 3, and 4 aft. There are usually 2 performances of the show to accommodate early and late dinner seatings in the main dining room.

The popular shows are Broadway’s Saturday Night Fever which will let you step back in time to the days when disco reigned supreme in New York, and In the Air — an awe-inspiring celebration of flight that blends dazzling special effects, fascinating history, and electrifying choreography in one high-flying production.

Throughout the ship, there are various entertainers from piano players, to comedians, and live bands that play everything from jazz to rock and roll.

liberty-of-the-seas.jpg

Casino Royale - a popular spot at night for adults who want to try their luck at slots, video poker, and table games. I recommend that you Join Club Royale rewards program, you’ll earn points every time you play. If you earn enough play, you’ll likely get offers and invitations to special events and tournaments, VIP seating at shows, priority dining reservations, and even complimentary cruises for two.

Liberty of the Seas Where to Eat for Free

Windjammer Buffet - Pop in during the morning for scrambled egg Bhurji served with roti, or home-style crispy chicken and waffles. Refuel in between adventures with a refreshing watermelon and feta salad or classic fish and chips. Or sample your way from Italy to India with dishes like traditional chicken marsala, savory pork vindaloo, tangy duck a l’Orange, and flavorful Caribbean goat curry.

Main Dining Room - In Liberty of Sea’s Main Dining Room, you can experience a rotating menu of dishes always offering something unexpected. A multi-level restaurant that usually isn’t too crowded compared to Windjammer. You can book My Time Dining - which allows you to show up whenever you like, or a seated time, early or late. I do not recommend My Time Dining because there is often a long line to get in. You can make a reservation for My Time Dining on Day 1, which will help compared to walking up without a one.

Sorrento’s Pizza - Royal Caribbean has spent years perfecting the recipe at Sorrento’s. It’s great pizza! Order a slice or a whole pie, it’s all included at no extra cost to you.

Cafe Promenade - 24-hour coffee shop serving pastries and light sandwiches.

Liberty of the Seas Specialty Dining

liberty-of-the-seas.jpg

Sabor Modern Mexican - A selection of small plates that include spicy beef empanadas, served with freshly grated tomato and garlic sauce. The fried chile calamari is a popular option. Sabor Modern Mexican lets you choose from a selection of proteins that come wrapped in house-made warm flour and corn tortillas. Go for the shredded beef short rib, spicy chicken, grilled cobia, succulent shrimp, or pulled pork — or mix and match a couple of each. Sabor cannot be found on the newer ships, so it’s great that the fan-favorite is still alive and well on Liberty of the Seas.

Chops Grill - As far as entrees go, the tender filet is one of the most popular items on the menu. If 9 ounces is a bit too much for you, opt for the smaller 6-ounce petite filet — it packs in just as much flavor as the standard cut. If you’re a traditionalist, complement your meal with an order of steaming Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and creamed spinach.

Giovanni’s Table - Every meal at Giovanni’s Table is served family-style. You’ll find all your favorite Old-World classics like traditional risotto finished with porcini and truffle mushroom tapenade, and veal osso buco paired with creamy cheese polenta, ripe tomatoes, and sautéed green beans.

Staterooms on Liberty of the Seas

Rooms come in 4 categories on Liberty of the Seas

  1. Inside - no exterior view

  2. Oceanview - window with exterior view (most are on lower decks)

  3. Balcony - the most popular

  4. Suites - Includes special VIP perks and extra space

Rooms have a slightly dated feel with pastel colors that were popular in the 2000s like the dark green accents on the wall and bed linens.

Bathrooms are small, typical for most cruise ships, and feel a little worn.

Most rooms sleep between 2 and 4 guests and connecting rooms are available.

Pool and Recreation

The pool and recreation options on Liberty of the Seas offer a variety of activities for guests of all ages. The ship features several pools, including an adults-only retreat area, a family-friendly main pool, and a designated splash area for children. Guests can enjoy sunbathing on comfortable lounge chairs or seek shade under umbrellas.

Aside from the pools, Liberty of the Seas offers an array of recreational activities such as rock climbing, mini-golf, sports courts for basketball and volleyball, and a FlowRider surf simulator for those looking to catch some waves. Fitness enthusiasts can take advantage of the onboard gym facilities, fitness classes, and jogging track.

Whether you prefer lounging by the pool, staying active with sports, or trying your hand at something new like surfing, Liberty of the Seas provides a well-rounded selection of pool and recreation options to enhance your cruise experience.

My Top Ten Things to do on Liberty of the Seas

  1. Movies under the stars poolside

  2. Take in a show at one of the ship’s theaters

  3. Try different restaurants, Liberty is known for great food

  4. Karaoke at the On Air Club

  5. Try your luck at the Casino

  6. Scale the rock climbing wall

  7. Relax in the adults-only Solarium

  8. Let the kids play at Splashway Bay

  9. Enjoy ice skating during open skate hours

  10. Ride Perfect Storm and Tidal Wave water slides

Allure of the Seas - Royal Caribbean

See what is so special about Allure of the Seas, one of the largest cruise ships in the world.

Allure of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas offers a wealth of activities and amenities specifically designed for families. With its diverse entertainment options, kid-friendly spaces, and plenty of dining options it’s one of my favorite ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet. Oasis Class ships are likely to win anyone over, not just because of their incredible size, but they deliver on a memorable and exciting vacation for travelers of all ages.

Allure of the Seas - Royal Caribbean
allure-of-the-seas

One of the most remarkable features of the Allure of the Seas, or any Oasis Class ship for that matter, is its innovative neighborhood concept.

Divided into seven distinct areas, each neighborhood offers its own unique charm and a myriad of experiences.

Neighborhoods like Central Park with over 12,000 plants and trees, to the Pool and Sports Zone where you’ll find an adults-only Solarium pool and sanctuary, a family-friendly main pool, water slides, and sports courts.

Why It’s Popular

  • Oasis-class, one of the largest ships in the world, but not crowded.

  • Adult-only areas, kid’s clubs, and family entertainment

  • Ice skating rink, surf simulator,

  • 25+ restaurants

  • A wide variety of staterooms and suite options

Entertainment on Allure of the Seas

When it comes to entertainment, the Allure of the Seas sets the stage for an unforgettable experience.

Witness the dazzling aquatic performances at the awe-inspiring AquaTheater, where acrobats and high divers captivate audiences with their gravity-defying stunts.

If you're in the mood for a Broadway-style show, head to the magnificent Amber Theater, where the best talent from around the world takes center stage with captivating performances.

Amber Theater: This three-deck masterpiece starting on Deck 4 seats 1,380 people and features Broadway styles shows.

Allure of the Seas main theater

AquaTheater: Brace yourself for the most daring stage at sea (Deck 6, aft)! With 2,000 water nozzles, acrobatic pools, and aerial feats.

The first 3 rows are rows are in the "splash zone."

Allure of the Seas Aquatheater

This is the most popular show on the ship so you’ll want to arrive early for good seats, which I think are located in the back of the theater.

By sitting in the back, you get a more panoramic view of the stage.

I also recommend making a reservation.

If reservations are not available prior to sailing, then make your reservation on Day 1 of your cruise.

Bars on Allure of the Seas | Royal Caribbean

The Royal Promenade's On Air Club is a versatile venue that offers a range of activities during the day. Guests can participate in classes like towel folding, napkin folding, trivia, and bingo.

Studio B hosts dazzling evening ice shows, including the unique "Ice Games," a Monopoly-themed spectacle begging for audience interaction.

Most cruises have an electrifying Glow Party at least once per sailing, so be sure to check that out if it’s offered.

Allure of the Seas ice skating

Live comedy and jazz performances are offered nightly - I recommend making reservations on the Royal Caribbean app once onboard.

Casino on Allure of the Seas

Casino Royale

Try your luck at the ship’s massive casino with 450 slot machines, table games like Blackjack, roulette, and craps. Check your Cruise Planner for slot and poker tournaments.

Royal Promenade:

Dazzling Parades: Get your cameras ready for stunning parades that light up the Royal Promenade on select evenings.

Arrive about 20 minutes to get a good spot as this are of the ship does not handle large crowds well.

Karaoke Champions: Belt out your favorite tunes at the On Air Club, where karaoke nights promise laughter and unexpected talents. This is one of the most popular evening venues, it’s a good time.

Where to Eat on Allure of the Seas

Royal Caribbean offers a flexible dining option called My Time Dining, which allows you the freedom to choose when you’d like to dine in the main dining room.

If you prefer an assigned dinner time, you can choose from early and late seating times, usually around 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM but times vary by cruise.

Main dining room dress code is generally smart casual attire, but on formal evenings, formal attire such as suits, ties, tuxedos for men, and dresses for women is appropriate in the restaurant.

If you prefer not to get dressed up, you can still dine in the main dining room, no one is going to ask you to leave. But if you are worried that you might feel uncomfortable, you can dine at Windjammers which offers the same menu as the main dining room plus additional items.

Where to Eat for Free on Allure of the Seas

If you plan on doing several specialty restaurants, you may want to book a dining package, but if you are planning on just one or two meals, it’s better to charge the meal to your room.

Bars and Lounges on Allure of the Seas

There are 16 themed bars on Allure of the Seas. Some are located in performance venues, near the pool, or in scenic areas of the ship.

Some of the most popular are the Rising Tide Bar, built on open elevator the rises between decks.

rising tide bar royal caribbean

Schooner Bar is known for its cozy atmosphere and live entertainment.

Vintages is a world-class wine bar.

And English Pub offers live music and UK-themed spirits like the James Bond Martini and a massive selection of beer. This is one of the most popular bars on the ship.

Allure of the Seas Staterooms

Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas boasts over 20 cabin categories, catering to a variety of preferences and budgets.

Oceanview Balcony staterooms are by far the most popular, followed by inward-facing balconies: these balconies overlook the Boardwalk neighborhood or Central Park neighborhood but have no view of the ocean.

What the Staterooms are like on Allure of the Seas

Like any cruise ship, there is a mind-boggling number of stateroom categories. But Allure’s rooms are categorized primarily by location.

Other than that, they all look nearly the same.

They can also be distinguished by how many people they sleep.

Most sleep between 2 and 4 people.

Rooms that sleep 3, known as triples, and rooms that sleep 4, known as quads, sell out first. There are more doubles than triples and quads.

All standard staterooms have two twin beds that can be converted into converting into a queen bed upon request. Most rooms have a small sofa, flat-screen TVs, a closet, cubbies, and under-bed storage.

Standard balcony staterooms are about 183 square feet. Categories 1D, 2D, 3D, and 4D are all Oceanview Balcony staterooms.

Main Stateroom Categories

  • Oceanview balcony

  • Oceanview porthole

  • Boardwalk balcony

  • Central Park balcony

  • Inside view

  • Inside (no view)

  • Suites

  • Family rooms

Pools and Recreation

There are 3 main pools, all found on Deck 15:

  • main pool

  • sports pool

  • beach pool

The most popular pools are the beach pool and sports pool.

The beach pool is a zero-entry pool so guests can just wade right in.

There are thousands of lounge chairs on the top deck however the ones near the pool and kids’ areas go fast.

There’s an additional pool located in the Solarium for adults only (age 18+).

This is by far the best pool on the ship and it’s often not too crowded.

Those seeking a little more adventure will relish in the ship's two distinct FlowRider surf simulators, rock climbing walls, and captivating zip line, offering a perfect blend of excitement and rejuvenation.

Port Canaveral Sets Sail with Royal Caribbean's Incredible “Star of the Seas” Cruise Ship

Royal Caribbean has announced that, in July 2025, Star of the Seas will be arriving at Port Canaveral, Florida.

Royal Caribbean has announced that, in July 2025, Star of the Seas will be arriving at Port Canaveral, Florida.

According to Royal Caribbean, this remarkable new ship will claim the title of the "world's largest cruise ship."

But larger doesn’t necessarily mean more people. While it will carry a record number of passengers, its size has more to do with spaces for families to have fun while onboard.

Port Canaveral is becoming Florida’s premier cruise port.

The Port Authority has been working diligently to enhance and expand its facilities to accommodate the increasing number of cruisers departing from Central Florida.

We have to acknowledge the competition that Star of the Seas presents for other ships, including Disney Cruise Line, which is also bringing new ships to Orlando (Port Canaveral).

Port Canaveral will be the home port to the world’s newest, largest, and most family-centered cruise ships, like the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, Utopia of the Seas, and Wonder of the Seas.

Port Canaveral is less than an hour away from the theme parks and Orlando International Airport.

Although the Star of the Seas is still under construction in Finland, it is expected to make Port Canaveral its home once it is completed in 2025.

Bookings for Star of the Seas go on sale on December 5, 2023. If you have booked a cruise with me before, you know that I recommend booking as early as possible to get the best fares. Cruises typically increase in price once sales begin.

Icon of the Seas Officially Joins Royal Caribbean Fleet

After 900 days of construction, Icon of the Seas will join the Royal Caribbean International fleet to just two months before its January 2024 debut.

After 900 days of construction, Icon of the Seas will join the Royal Caribbean fleet just two months before its January 2024 debut.

During more than two years of construction, we witnessed the installation of the AquaDome, the single largest glass and steel structure to be lifted onto a cruise ship, the engineering of more water on board than ever before across seven pools, six record-breaking waterslides, and more.

Icon of the Seas will sail from Turku to Cadiz, Spain, where the cruise line will start to put the finishing touches on the ship before it heads to Miami.

Starting Wednesday, Nov. 29, travelers can follow Icon’s journey by visiting Royal Caribbean’s website.

Whether “family vacation” means getting away as a family, couple or friends, Icon will feature firsts and next-level favorites for everyone to make memories their way every day across eight neighborhoods.

There are adrenaline-pumping thrills, unrivaled ways to chill, more than 40 ways to dine and drink, cutting-edge entertainment across the cruise line’s four signature stages—air, ice, water, and theater—and more.

There are also 28 different stateroom categories, including the new three-level Ultimate Family Townhouse; rooms are thoughtfully designed for every type of vacationer.

The five brand-new neighborhoods and three reimagined favorites are destinations in themselves filled with a variety of experiences, live entertainment, restaurants and bars, including:

Thrill Island:

The new center of thrill features

  • Category 6 - the largest waterpark at sea, with six record-breaking slides

  • Crown’s Edge - part skywalk, part ropes course, and part thrill ride on which adventurers swing 154 feet above the ocean

  • FlowRider simulator

  • Lost Dunes minigolf course and more.

Chill Island:

Four of the seven pools on Icon are at this three-deck neighborhood, each with a unique vibe and prime ocean views: the lively Swim & Tonic, the cruise line’s first swim-up bar at sea; Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea; Cloud 17, an adults-only retreat; and the infinity-edge Cove Pool.

With different tunes from live bands and DJs, and poolside spots for drinks and quick, casual food—such as The Lime & Coconut and its new frozen cocktail bar, and El Loco Fresh & Cantina Fresca—vacationers can chill day and night.

Surfside:

Introducing the first neighborhood made for young families.

Adults and kids can stay and play all day between ways to splash, like at the new Water’s Edge pool for grownups nearby Baby Bay and the Splashaway Bay aquapark for kids, and new dedicated dining options such as the Surfside Eatery buffet, Pier 7 for all-day brunch.

AquaDome:

A tranquil oasis by day and a vibrant hot spot at night, the new neighborhood is filled with wraparound ocean views, new and returning restaurants and bars, a 55-foot-tall water curtain, and the next-level AquaTheater, which will introduce the first cast of robots, skateboarders, divers and more.

This area includes Royal Caribbean’s first food hall, AquaDome Market, and Rye & Bean—a new bar for lattes and coffee-infused cocktails—plus a new Overlook bar and pods, and the cruise line’s marquee aqua shows.

The Hideaway:

Tucked away and sitting 135 feet above the ocean is a new neighborhood that combines the good vibes of beach club scenes around the world.

The first suspended infinity pool at sea is at the center of it all, and it has 180-degree ocean views that make it the perfect place to watch sunsets from the point of view only a cruise can offer as vacationers enjoy the dedicated DJ and bar.

Royal Promenade:

The heartbeat of Icon, this neighborhood has more than 15 restaurants, bars and lounges, including Dueling Pianos, Royal Caribbean’s first dueling pianos bar; the new 1400 Lobby Bar, inspired by the history of shipbuilding, with an ocean-facing terrace that opens the reimagined neighborhood to the outdoors for the first time ever.

Central Park:

Lusher and livelier than ever, this open-air neighborhood is reimagined with more ways to dine, drink, and be entertained. Thousands of real plants line new experiences and favorites include the popular Izumi, with a new location and a walkup window; and American steakhouse Chops Grille.

Making their debut are spots like Empire Supper Club, an extravagant experience that pairs eight courses with wine, cocktails and music; and Lou’s Jazz ‘n Blues, for live performances of soulful jazz, jazzy pop music and more.

Suite Neighborhood:

Spanning four decks, Royal Caribbean’s most expansive Suite Neighborhood features larger suites, including the new Grove Suite Sun Deck, complete with a private pool, whirlpool, and dedicated Mediterranean dining; and a new two-level Coastal Kitchen with views of the AquaDome and the ocean.

Icon is also the cruise line’s first ship that can be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), a transitional fuel.

The dual-fuel engines will work alongside a lineup of energy efficiency initiatives and industry-leading environmental programs on board, like the first waste-to-energy plant at sea.

Twenty-four percent more energy efficient than the standards required for ships being designed today, Icon is Royal Caribbean’s most sustainable ship, marking the next step in parent company Royal Caribbean Group's journey to introduce a net-zero cruise ship by 2035.

Guide to Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas

Planning a vacation on the largest cruise ship in the world can feel overwhelming. Here are the basics to get you started.

Wonder of the Seas things to do

The largest cruise ship in the world

Carrying an impressive 7,084 passengers plus 2,204 crew at any given time, there can be as many as 9,288 people onboard Wonder of the Seas.

Her 24 glass elevators whisk guests up and down her 16 decks. She rivals your local shopping mall in size and style.

To move a ship of this size, there are four engines, producing 7,500 horsepower each.

You can easily get overwhelmed when planning your cruise vacation, not just with things to do onboard the ship, but the itinerary and port adventures. In this guide, I’ll give you just the basics to get you started. For more expert advice, contact me to for a quote and answers to all your questions.

How is Wonder of the Seas different?

Wonder of the Seas is the 5th Oasis Class ship but unlike her sisters, she features a Suite Neighborhood with a Suite Lounge.

The ship also has a new dining option: Mason Jar Southern Restaurant and Bar, as well as a new underwater-themed play area, called Wonder Playscape.

This area has slides, climbing walls, games, and interactive activities for families to enjoy.

Wonder Dunes, Royal Caribbean’s signature mini-golf course, has been added to the ship with a new look and features.

The totally redesigned Caribbean Pool Deck includes the new, cantilevered Vue Bar, a newly designed Splashaway Bay kids aqua park, and the adults-only Solarium is completely enclosed.

Things to do on Wonder of the Seas

Wonder of the Seas still features a FlowRider surf simulator, the Ultimate Abyss slide, a ten-story-high zip line, and twin rock climbing walls.

The biggest ship in the world is bringing the boldest bites at sea, with new dining concepts and a wide array of returning favorites.

Dining on Wonder of the Seas

Mason Jar Restaurant on Wonder of the Seas

Mason Jar | Wonder of the Seas

Wonder of the Seas offers all kinds of great cruise dining options for any craving or occasion, including Royal Caribbean favorites like Izumi Hibachi & Sushi, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine, and El Loco Fresh.

That’s in addition to a brand new option, Mason Jar Southern Restaurant & Bar.

Family time onboard

Make the most of every moment at sea, with more to see, do, play and conquer. Like the all-new Wonder Playscape, an underwater-themed world with endless opportunities for kids to explore.

Wonder Dunes, where you can tee up under the stars for an immersive, story-based mini-golf experience like nothing you've played before.

The fleet-favorite FlowRider surf simulator. And the twisting, turning, fun-drenched thrills of The Perfect Storm waterslide trio.

Wonder of the Seas Staterooms

Relax, unwind and make yourself at home after a full day of adventure.

From deluxe amenities to breathtaking views, you'll find all the creature comforts you'd expect during your vacation – and some you probably haven't even thought of — in a range of rooms to suit your travel style.

Inside staterooms

  • The most economical staterooms onboard. Categories include either no view at all or rooms that have windows overlooking interior parts of the ship such as Royal Promenade or the Boardwalk.

Ocean View staterooms

  • These economical staterooms have window views of the ocean.

Ocean View Balcony staterooms

  • The most desirable stateroom category on Wonder of the Seas. There are more balcony staterooms than in any other category. Rooms have a sliding door that opens to a balcony with ocean views.

Interior View Balcony staterooms

  • Inside staterooms have an outside balcony overlooking the Boardwalk or Central Park neighborhoods. These rooms are not intended to have views of the ocean but some Boardwalk staterooms might have a partial, obstructed view of the water from the back of the ship.

Virtual Balcony staterooms

  • A Virtual Balcony is an 80-inch high-definition screen that spans nearly floor to ceiling. It has real-time views of the ocean and the ship’s destinations.

Suites

  • There are a number of 1 and 2-bedroom suites ranging from Junior Suites to Aqua Theather Suites, Owner’s Suites, and Loft Suites. Most sites on Wonder of the Seas include access to the Suite Neighborhood, an exclusive area onboard just for suite guests.

Utopia of the Seas Floats! Next Stop: Orlando

When completed, Utopia of the Seas will be one of the largest cruise ships in the world. And she’s calling Orlando, Florida home in 2024.

The world’s biggest ship, Utopia of the Seas is now one step closer to its debut in Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, in July 2024. This new Oasis Class ship floated for the first time at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.

Bookings are already underway for Utopia of the Seas and summer cruises are going fast. Utopia will sail 3- and 4-night cruises to the Bahamas. Get your quote now.

Known as the float out, the key moment in the construction of Utopia took 17 months to reach.

The process itself took nearly 15 hours, beginning with filling the new ship’s dry dock with more than 46 million gallons of water overnight.

Utopia was then moved into an outfitting dock, where it will be completed in summer 2024.

Utopia of the Seas being built in France

Utopia will now begin to come to life as its highly anticipated features are installed, from the longest dry slide at sea – the 295-foot-long Ultimate Abyss – to a first-of-its-kind immersive train car dining experience.

The ultimate 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday getaway will be the first in the revolutionary Oasis Class to offer short escapes when it debuts in July 2024.

Every vacation will feature visits to Nassau, The Bahamas, and Perfect Day at CocoCay – Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island – that will feature its first adults-only slice of paradise, Hideaway Beach, starting in January 2024.

Check out activities for kids on Utopia of the Seas’ sister ship, Wonder of the Seas in this video.

Orlando (Port Canaveral) Will be Home to 2 of the Largest Cruise Ships in the World

Orlando will be home to 2 of the largest cruise ships in the world: Utopia of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas.

Upon completion, Royal Caribbean's newest ship, Utopia of the Seas will become the third largest cruise ship in the world, measuring 1,188 feet long, 211 feet wide, and featuring 18 decks to accommodate 5,668 guests.

Royal Caribbean has said it will call Orlando (Port Canaveral) home when it arrives in July of 2024.

Utopia of the Seas

Utopia of the Seas

Wonder of the Seas in Port Canaveral

Wonder of the Seas

Among its remarkable features, Utopia of the Seas will have 5 pools, 3 water slides, 21 dining venues, 23 bars, 2 casinos, 8 hot tubs, and will be the only Oasis-class ship to include 2 Solarium Suites.

Utopia of the Seas will run 3-night weekend cruises from Orlando to the Bahamas and Perfect Day at CocoCay followed by 4-night weekday cruises, also the Bahamas and Perfect Day.

Bookings are now open, you can request a quote for Utopia of the Seas here.

But Utopia of the Seas is not the only impressive ship homeported in Orlando.

Wonder of the Seas, currently the largest cruise ship in the world, is sailing from Port Canaveral doing 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises.

Wonder of the Seas is currently the largest cruise ship in the world. It carries 5,734 guests at double occupancy (i.e., if every cabin held only two people) and 6,988 passengers when completely full.

There is about 2,200 crew members so you could possibly be on a ship with 9,000+ people onboard.

Thank you so much for being so patient with us. We had a great first cruise. Your advice was spot on especially with the dining package.

Short Cruises from Port Canaveral on Utopia of the Seas

Utopia of the Seas will challenge the Disney Wish on 3 and 4 night Bahamian sailings from Orlando.

Royal Caribbean’s new ship, Utopia of the Seas will be among the largest cruise ships in the world, and we now know that it will call Orlando (Port Canaveral) home starting in July 2024. Reservations are available now ▸

This is literally big news.

Utopia is an Oasis Class ship, which will be able to accommodate 5,700 guests and will sail to Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas.

Utopia will follow a similar itinerary as the Disney Wish with alternating 3-night weekend cruises followed by 4-night weekday cruises.

This makes it easy for those who need a short getaway or for travelers looking for a land and sea vacation with Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando.

Utopia will feature a variety of new and returning venues – some reimagined for the vessel – across eight neighborhoods.

She will have over 20 dining options, including a revamped version of the Izumi restaurant with twice as many teppanyaki tables and outdoor seating in the ship’s Central Park area.

Izumi in the Park, a window where you can get sushi and sweet Japanese-inspired treats will be next door.

You’ll also find an expanded, two-story version of Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, and a new extension of the eatery, Gio’s Terrazza, located above the Boardwalk neighborhood.

New Caribbean bar Pesky Parrot – located on the Royal Promenade – will serve fruity cocktails with rum, gin, and tequila, along with frozen drinks and other items.

There will also be an immersive dining experience that takes guests on an immersive “locomotive journey” with multiple courses and sophisticated technology elements.

Guests can choose from over 20 kinds of accommodations, including the new Solarium Suites, which feature sweeping views and access to the line’s Royal Suite Class experience.

There are also five pools, two casinos, a zip line, rock climbing walls and more.

Thank you so much for being so patient with us. We had a great first cruise. Your advice was spot on especially with the dining package.

Wonder of the Seas - Activities for Kids | Royal Caribbean

Activities for kids and families on Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas. The largest cruise ship in the world.

What can kids do on Royal Caribbeans Wonder of the Seas? Let me start by saying the kids club is just the beginning. Here are my top activities for kids and families on Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas

Laser Tag: Clash for the Crystal City

The story goes that sometime in the distant future. Two teams battle it out in a glow-in-the-dark laser tag faceoff in a frozen-themed wasteland.

The course itself is a massive inflatable castle, that is set up in Studio B, the ship’s indoor ice rink.

laser tag on Wonder of the Seas

The ice is covered with carpet so you won’t slip but shoes are required for this.

Children must be at least 5 years old to play and 40 inches but it’s not just for kids. It’s a great activity for families or even if the kids can play themselves while you watch.
Here’s a tip: you need to make reservations once onboard Wonder of the Seas, so on Day 1 scroll through the Daily Planner in the Royal Caribbean app to see which days laser tag is being offered.

Chances are you’ll want to play more than once so sign up for a few games. Stand-by spots are also available but you know…it’s standby so who knows if you’re going to get in. Better to make a reservation.

Wonder PlayScape

For your little ones, Wonder PlayScape is an underwater-themed world with slides, child-size climbing walls, games, and puzzles.

Wonder of the Seas | Royal Caribbean | Wonder Playscape

And by night, the playscape transforms into an otherworldly seascape with special lighting and effects.

Adult supervision is required here but there are places to sit. Or, you can get in on the fun and play together.

Boardwalk on Wonder of the Seas

The Boardwalk Neighborhood located on deck 6 aft, is where you’ll find complimentary carousel rides and even special events like the Family Fun Day Carnival.

Carousel on Wonder of the Seas - Royal Caribbean

The carnival has a chocolate fountain, cotton candy machines, games for kids, and live entertainment.

Be sure to check the daily planner on the Royal Caribbean app for special events on the Boardwalk.

These events are popular so I recommend getting there a few minutes early.

But of course, the carousel is the main attraction here. Those are hand-carved horses by the way!

The Boardwalk Neighborhood also has the Dog House featuring hot dogs and brats.

All of this is included in your cruise fare.

Ultimate Abyss

There are 2 kinds of people in the world. Those who think sliding down 10 stories on Wonder of the Seas, sounds exciting, and those who think it sounds terrifying.

Well, it’s actually not as terrifying as it looks.

Ultimate Abyss Slide on Wonder of the Seas
Ultimate Abyss Slide on Wonder of the Seas - Royal Caribbean

It’s a regular slide, not a water slide, and you sit in on a mat all the way down.

You can actually control how fast you go once inside by pulling up on the front handle.

While it is thrilling, it’s not as intimidating as you might think.

Inside there are lighting and sound effects that make it even more exciting.

wonder of the seas ultimate abyss slide

Just remember that when come to a stop at the bottom, you’ll be on Deck 6 - the Boardwalk and you will need to take an elevator back up.

The minimum highest is 44” and you do not need reservations.

Adventure Ocean Kids Club

Royal Caribbean ships are of course family ships, but Wonder of the Seas takes it to the next level. Adventure Ocean is way beyond a kids club.

Adventure Ocean - Wonder of the Seas - Kids Club

Adventure Ocean is included for children between the ages of 3 and 11.

Inside there are plenty of activities just for kids like science experiments, an Imagination Studio presented by Crayola, scheduled character appearances starring popular DreamWorks characters, and scavenger hunts.

They also have field trips to the sports courts, and video arcades where the games are free movie nights (even Disney movies which I think is awesome...because well, you know, this isn’t Disney Cruise Line).

Kids may also be escorted to Windjammers buffet for dinner - they even have their own little buffet.

kids buffet on Wonder of the Seas

Adventure Ocean is open from about 9 am to 10 pm, but it does close periodically so be sure to check to schedule.

On Port Days it’s typically open the entire time Wonder of the Seas is in port.

Adventure Ocean Late Night Party starts at 10 pm, for $7 per hour. Kids can stay until 2 am.

I recommend you attend the Adventure Ocean open house on Embarkation Day. You can meet the crew and register your child. You can also play together in the different spaces during open house.

Babies and Tots Programs on Wonder of the Seas

Wonder of the Seas has a babies program just for those between the ages of 6 months and 18 months in Adventure Ocean Babies.

Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas Babies and Tots

Adventure Ocean Junior is for children ages 18 months to 36 months. They must be potty trained to enter.

A small fee applies to both AO Babies and AO Junior which is about $7 per hour.

Social 100 Teen Club

Teens age 13 - 17 have their own space on board too - and Wonder of the Seas really does a great job of giving them options and variety.

Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas Teen Club

They will just be so thrilled to get some space (and believe me, you will too!)

There are 2 parts, the Social 100 Club on Deck 16, an indoor place to chill, play video games, and socialize.

They also have planned activities at the sports deck in the evenings.

Plus there’s a private Social 100 outdoor area on Deck 17.

Here they have places to chill, and sit in the hot tub, there’s even a refreshment bar serving non-alcoholic beverages.

Wonder of the Seas - Teen Club

Teens are allowed to come and go as they please.

If you have a teen who is going by themselves, I recommend they attend on the first night. The crew does introductions and icebreakers so the kids can make friends.

Also on Day 1 parents can tour the teen club and register.

The Perfect Storm

There’s a water park located on the pool deck which features dual racer sides, the first boomerang-style and headfirst mat racer waterslides at sea, and a Champagne bowl slide, where after braving the slide, you emerge in a giant "bowl" before sliding down one more tube.

wonder of the seas - water slides

Oh, I know what you’re thinking - sounds like a toilet bowl. Exactly!

This onboard water park is included with your cruise fare.

Height and weight restrictions apply, I recommend these slides for those ages 7 and up.

Splashaway Bay

"wonder of the seas" splashaway bay

Pint-sized cruisers can have a blast too in Splashaway Bay water park.

This water playscape features colorful waterslides, water cannons, fountains, pools, and whirlpools for tots to tweens (and their supervising parents).

Kids must be potty trained. The slide has a minimum height requirement of 42”.

Wonder of the Seas Zip Line

You are suspended on the Zip Line nine decks up above the Boardwalk Neighborhood on Wonder of the Seas.

It’s hard to imagine that this can be done on a cruise ship! The zip line is open to kids age 12+ and a minimum of 52”. A parent must be present.

zip line on "wonder of the seas" Royal Caribbean
zip line on wonder of the seas

You’ll need closed-toe shoes with laces so, don’t forget those. The zip line is included in your fare, no reservation is required.

Check the daily planner in the Royal app for times once onboard.

Flowrider Surf Simulator

This surf simulator is one of the most popular activities for kids and adults alike. Reservations are recommended -make them in the Royal app. If your child is new to surfing, they offer boogie boarding in addition to stand-up surfing.

Private lessons are also available starting at around $70.

Surf Simulator - Flow Rider - Wonder of the Seas

If they get the hang of it, expect a big cheer from the crowd. We all know it’s not easy so it’s nice to see others cheer them on.

Wiping out is inevitable but don’t worry, Flowrider is basically a giant trampoline with water, so you just bounce around until coming to a rest.

Still, you will need to pass a quick physical agility test and sign a waiver so you should allow for additional time prior to your reservation time.

Wonder Dunes Mini-Golf

I recommend playing miniature golf at night. Why? Because it’s hot on the top deck during the day.

But Wonder of The Seas has something special: nighttime lighting effects.

Wonder of the Seas - mini-golf

This is actually a great activity that the entire family can enjoy together.

It’s included with your cruise and you can play as many times as you like. No reservations are required.

Wonder of the Seas Sports Court

The sports court is always busy, especially with teens looking to play basketball. Social 100 will sometimes have activities planned here as well in the evenings.

Spotlight Karaoke

From show tunes or shower tunes, your entire family can sing your favorite hits with thousands of popular songs to choose from.

Reservations are required and they can be made in the Royal app once onboard. This is a popular activity so I recommend reserving on Day 1.

Wonder of the Seas Arcade

The arcade on Wonder of the Seas isn’t as popular as other ships probably because there are so many other activities for kids.

But you’ll find a good mix of games from the 80s, 90s, and today.

The games are not included in your cruise fare but the Adventure Ocean team sometimes brings the kids over for free play.

Rock Climbing Wall

Rock climbing walls have become a guest favorite on Royal Caribbean ships and Wonder of the Seas has 2! Both are located in the aft, just behind the Boardwalk Neighborhood. These 30 ft tall rock walls are open to kids age 6+.

wonder-of-the-seas-rock-climbing

Rock climbing is supervised by crew members and they are great about encouraging kids to keep going. It’s much harder than it looks.

Kids can safely and slowly repel back down - which is the fun part!

Reservations are not needed and it is included with your cruise fare.

Just remember to bring a pair of socks because special rock climbing shoes will be provided.

Intense Aqua-Theater Performance

Kids might not immediately be too fond of having to sit through a show but Intense on Wonder of the Seas is different.

wonder-of-the-seas Intense aqua theater show

It’s a high-energy show with powerful music and has everything from pool plunging to tightrope teetering and beyond.

This show is extremely popular and has limited seating so you definitely want to make a reservation in the Royal app as soon as you’re on board.

Arrive 30 minutes prior to show time to secure a good seat.

I also recommend sitting towards the rear of the theater as some performances take palace over the audience.

Kid-Friendly Food on Wonder of the Seas

From the Sorrentos Pizza to the cutest buffet line called KidJammers, there are plenty of kid-friendly dining options onboard Wonder of the Seas.

wonder-of-the-seas-buffet

Even the main dining room is kid friendly.

It’s a great time to see if they want to try something new because almost everything is included in your cruise fare. If they don’t like it, that’s ok, they can order something else.

I got my son to try Escargot as an appetizer. It didn’t go well, but hey, he tried it and it was really funny to watch.
