New Attraction Poster, Animatronic Critters Unveiled for Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World
New details released on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World has announced the new audio-animatronic characters that will be in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, opening this summer in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom Park.
Octavia the Bobcat, an adventurous bobcat kitten, loves climbing and hanging out in trees almost as much as she loves performing.
Pawpaw the Bobcat - Octavia’s devoted grandfather, lives to make Octavia smile and has the view that everything has a way of working itself out.
Claude the Louisiana Black Bear – plays his horn along with the other members of his family. He’s a tinkerer who loves to create with things found in the forest, and brings humor to the ride, especially when it comes to his home-grown creations.
Bernadette the Louisiana Black Bear – loves to enjoy life, from splashing in the waters of her bayou home with her cub, Sebastián, to playing the horn with her mate, Claude.
Sebastián the Louisiana Black Bear – Though he’s definitely a “mama’s cub,” Sebastián charted his own musical course as a drummer. He’s happy to follow his friend Octavia’s adventurous lead as they explore and play, and is fascinated with the small details in the bayou, like the insects and mushrooms.
Phina the Gray Fox – She’s constantly thinking of new ideas with optimism and energy! This imaginative fox is continually starting new projects with excitement, and her friends accept and celebrate her unique thinking.
Walt Disney World also released the official attraction poster for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Look closely and you notice the cast of characters mentioned above.

January 26, 2024, will be the last day to see the current rendition of the Country Bear Jamboree at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort.
This is the second major refurbishment of the Magic Kingdom attraction, the last being in 2012 when some of the songs were omitted, making the show about 5 minutes shorter.
If you’re a fan of the Country Bears, don't worry. It’s not going away completely. The new version of the show will be called the Country Bears Musical Jamboree and will still feature the beloved bears.
The theater will be transformed into a Nashville-inspired, Grand Ole Opry-style show with reinterpreted Disney tunes.
Watch the Country Bear Jamboree Show on Youtube
The Disney songs will be performed in different country music genres such as bluegrass, pop-country, rockabilly, and Americana.
The Country Bear Jamboree was originally planned for Disney’s Mineral King Ski Resort in California, but that project never took off, and soon after Walt Disney passed away.
Plans for the show carried on. Imagineers decided to place the show in Walt Disney World as an opening day attraction. It opened on October 1, 1971.
Country Bear Jamboree was so successful in Florida, that a copy of the show was made for Disneyland, which also inspired a whole new land, called Bear Country.
In 1983, Tokyo Disneyland also got a Country Bears show.
In 2001, the Disneyland California version closed to make way for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The Florida version remained.
Country Bear Musical Jamboree will debut sometime this summer, ahead of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, opening in late 2024, also in Magic Kingdom.

Gingerbread Houses at Disney World Hotels
Disney World is known for setting up elaborate gingerbread displays like at Disney’s Grand Floridan Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Planning and preparation begin a full seven months ahead!
The culinary team at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa starts mixing the fragrant dough for its life-size gingerbread house in May ahead of a two-month curing process.
Individual shapes, from shingles to Mickey cookies, are baked and decorated throughout the summer and then stored for “construction” in November.
The gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian takes three days to build.
6 New Gingerbread Displays at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
This year, guests can once more enjoy these stunning works of art in six Disney Resort Hotels, including a new display at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. Look for displays – no doubt, with a few new surprises – at these locations.
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays
Planning for the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays starts a year in advance.
The team focuses on creating dishes and drinks that celebrate the diversity of holiday traditions with comfort foods that inspire warm memories.
During last year’s festival, the culinary team baked more than 250,000 cookies in just five weeks for the event’s Holiday Cookie Stroll.
The EPCOT Festival of the Holidays begins November 24, 2023.
New at EPCOT 2023
This year will bring several “firsts” to the festival.
The all-new fireworks-and-laser spectacular Luminous - Symphony of Us will debut Dec.5, 2023.
With EPCOT being home to The Walt Disney Company’s 100th-anniversary celebration, guests will find beautiful holiday decor at the park entrance commemorating the Disney100 celebration.

A Troubled History: Stitch's Great Escape at Magic Kingdom
A brief history of Stich’s Great Escape.
By Martin Wittko
Located in Tomorrowland, Stitch, from Lilo and Stitch had a ride about him escaping a cosmic jail cell in an x-vision type circular arena. You smelled, heard, and saw what was happening on the attraction.
Let's go right back to the grand opening of this ride.
This space was originally Flight to the Moon, followed by Misson to Mars, and then Alien Encounter, which opened on June 20th, 1995.
The ride closed on January 12th, 1996 because Disney CEO Michael Eisner thought it wasn’t intense enough.
Disney spent $10 million dollars to “retool” the attraction.
Disney mega fans praised the ride saying it was dark and thrilling, but your average guest, normally with children, described it as “too scary.”
The popularity after all the negative reviews and people hating the attraction was just the start of the problems.
So, on September 21st, 2003 Disney said they were closing Alien Encounter.
Many guests were very happy about this. They felt that the movie Lilo and Stitch was more kid-friendly.
Alien Encounter closed on October 12th, 2003, and was later reopened as Stitch’s Great Escape on November 16th, 2004.
With most of the same technology as Alien Encounter, only the story was different, Even the theater was the same!
The people were split. Some people said it was a wonderful replacement with good family-friendly action.
While others had complaints. The most complaints came from his burp which made guests feel sick to their stomachs.
On October 1st the attraction was put on seasonal operation for a year until 2017. The doors were always open for a Stitch meet and greet while the ride was still seasonal.
But on January 6th, 2018 the attraction closed for a lengthy period of time. In October 2018 the animatronic was dismantled.
In 2019 the ride closed for good and the signage was taken down in August of 2020.
So, what does Stitch's great escape look like now? It’s a cast member break room.
It doesn’t look like anything really. Just a sad image. But that is the downfall of Stitch's Great Escape.

New! Tron Lightcycle Run at Walt Disney World
Guide to Tron: Lightcycle Run Magic Kingdom
By Martin Wittko
NEW! Tron: Lightcycle run at the Walt Disney World resort in Florida has recently opened! Here is an ultimate guide to this new futuristic attraction.
Tron Lightcycle Run originally opened in 2016 at Shanghai Disneyland Park.
In 2017 it was announced that the same attraction would open at Walt Disney World in Tomorrowland located near Space Mountain.
It is a big structure, worth the 5 year wait! Tron officially opened on April 4th, 2023.
Tron Lightcycle run is a roller coaster that, at top speeds, goes around 59 miles per hour.
It’s one of the faster rides at Walt Disney World, but still not the fastest. Test Track is 65 mph and is still the fastest attraction.
The ride vehicle is a motorcycle-type vehicle.
Disney has sample ride vehicles at the entrance of the ride.
Some people say the position they’re on the ride vehicles is hard on their knees.
Fortunately, there is a more traditional coaster ride vehicle available. Tron is a very cool experience for all the Tron movie fans out there but, I recommend you do it at night so the outside area lights up.
The ride starts out with a long fast launch at 59 miles an hour which goes up and around over the outside line and into the ride building.
Once inside you will see screens with Team Orange (your opposing team) and hear sounds with lights and colors set to techy music.
The ending for the ride stops immediately which may be slightly displeasing.
The ride is quick due to its speed with an under 4 minutes time period.
The ride definitely is ahead of its time, and timing! In the ride’s queue, you will be digitized (placed into) The world of Tron, and you will see the Lightcycle move right under you which is the launch to start off the ride.
Tron is not faster than Testtrack at EPCOT or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind also at EPCOT
But still an exhilarating ride for movie fans and thrill seekers.
While having mild drops and no Loops of any kind, I would say it's an advanced kiddy ride.
While there are no loops or drops it is in the dark which may be scary.
The launch is fast but if your kid can do coasters like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or Slinky-Dog Dash, Your youngsters might enjoy it.
That's your ultimate guide to Tron: Lightcycle Run book with OrlandoParksGuy.com for great offers so you can see it for yourself! (Written by Martin Wittko, “The child” of OrlandoParksGuy.com)

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
Take a tour of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World. Here you’ll be immersed in the spirit of the South Pacific with tropical palm trees, lush vegetation and torch-lit pathways. In this tour, we go inside guest rooms, restaurant at the Polynesian and the Great Ceremonial House. Get insider planning advice and more ▸
At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort you’ll be immersed in the spirit of the South Pacific with tropical palm trees, lush vegetation and torch-lit pathways.
While technically Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is the flagship hotel at Walt Disney World, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort has been the most popular hotel since it opened in 1971. Even a few unofficial fan clubs have been created.
Dining, shopping, hotel check in and the monorail are all located in the The Great Ceremonial House, the main building within the resort.
Its nearly 500 guest rooms are located inside several, 3-story outer buildings called longhouses. The furthest is an 8 minute walk from The Great Ceremonial House.
Exterior pathways lead to the different buildings. Hotel rooms are accessed through interior hallways.
This 40-acre resort sits directly across from Magic Kingdom Park on the man-made Seven Seas Lagoon, just minutes away by monorail or by boat.
The Magic Kingdom monorail stops at the lobby of the Polynesian and the Epcot monorail line is within walking distance.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Rooms
Ground floor rooms have patios, third floor rooms have covered balconies.
Most of the resort’s second floor rooms do not have full balconies. Instead they have a sliding door that opens to outside but it is not possible to actually stand outside.
My clients will often ask me to request a first floor or third floor room so they have the option of going outside.
For assistance with making room requests, plus other insider advice on planning your Walt Disney World vacation, contact me here to get started!
Most guest rooms have the same configuration: 2 queen beds and a twin-size daybed.
Suites and Club Level rooms are available as well.
Like most Disney World hotels, the nightly rate depends largely by the view from your room and/or the room location. Disney charges more for premium views and/or more convenient room locations.
At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort there are 6 main room categories:
Standard View - Views of gardens, walkways, or monorail.
Lagoon View - Views of the the Seven Seas Lagoon. Some rooms may have an obstructed view of Magic Kingdom.
Pool or Marina View - Rooms that overlook one of the two pools or a room overlooking the marina on the Seven Seas Lagoon. There isn’t much of a marina these days compared to years ago, but Disney still uses it to dock a few boats.
Theme Park View - Views of the distant Magic Kingdom Park. Most rooms have views of the nightly fireworks and the Seven Seas Lagoon.
Club Level - There are multiple views to choose from within the Club Level category such as Theme Park View and Garden View. These are standard rooms but include access to a lounge where breakfast and snacks are served daily.
Deluxe Studio - Views of the lagoon, landscaping or parking areas. These spacious rooms have a kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, mini-fridge, paper plates, bowls, and plastic utensils. They have 1 Queen Bed, 1 Queen-Size murphy bed that doubles as a sofa, and 1 Single pull-down bed. Sleeps up to 5 adults
How Much Does Disney’s Polynesian Resort Cost?
Rates vary by day of the week, time of year and room view. Friday and Saturday night stays cost a little more.
Rates are lower from late August through October and higher from February through April.
Holiday rates are in effect between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and the week immediately following Easter.
Approximate room rates at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Standard View starting at $650/night
Pool or Marina View starting at $765/night
Lagoon View starts at $890/night
Theme Park View starts at $960/night
Garden View Club Level starts at $928/night
Theme Park View Club Level starts at $1025/night
Deluxe Studio starts at $655/night
Note that Garden View Club Level is less than a Theme Park View room. I advise my clients to book the Club Level room over the Theme Park View whenever possible. The value of Club Level outweighs the view of Magic Kingdom.
What is Club Level at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort?
Club Level rooms are not suites, they are standard rooms with 2 queen beds and 1 daybed, but they come with access to the King Kamehameha Club. Here you’ll have secured key access to the club-level lounge, where a continental breakfast and refreshments are served daily.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a place to do laundry at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort?
Yes, there is a laundry room on site. I recommend bringing your own detergent pods. The brand Disney sells isn’t very effective at removing stains.
Did the Beatles really break up at the Polynesian Village Resort?
Yes, John Lennon was staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in December 1974. His lawyers brought him the official documents to sign that would officially dissolve The Beatles. While Disney will not confirm the exact room Lennon was staying in, it’s believed to be a Theme Park View room, most likely in the Samoa longhouse based on photos taken during Lennon’s vacation.
What time is check in at the Polynesian Resort?
Check-in is at 4pm. Online check-in is available through the Walt Disney World app. Check-out time is 11am.
Is there a map of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort?
What are the different buildings at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort?
Aotearoa - Close to the Great Ceremonial House, views of monorail or lagoon. 2nd floor rooms do not have balconies.
Fiji - Close to the Great Ceremonial House, far from the Epcot monorail. Overlooks marina or gardens. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.
Hawaii - This is the Club Level building. Views of the lagoon, Magic Kingdom, or Gardens. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.
Niue - Close to the Great Ceremonial House and pools. One of the most requested buildings at the Polynesian because of its convenient location. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.
Rapa Nui - Deluxe Studios building. Close to the Epcot monorail station and quiet pool. Rooms on the north face gardens, south facing rooms have a parking lot view. 2nd floor rooms have full balconies.
Rarotonga - Close to Great Ceremonial House and pools. One of the most requested buildings because of its convenient location. Mostly standard view rooms here (gardens, quiet pool, or a distant parking area). 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.
Samoa - Mostly pool view rooms, very close to the Great Ceremonial house. Ground floor rooms have easy access to both pools. Can be noisy when pools are busy in the afternoon. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.

Tokelau - Another building made up of Deluxe Studios, so no standard hotel rooms here. Studios are similar, and perhaps even more desirable than standard rooms. Excellent location, between the Great Ceremonial House, pool and Epcot monorail station. 2nd floor rooms have full balconies.
Tuvalu - Has many rooms overlooking Magic Kingdom, in a quiet location. Far from the Epcot monorail, somewhat close to the Great Ceremonial House. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.

Quick Guide to Tron Lightcycle Run Lockers
TRON Lightcycle Run will use double-sided lockers similar to Universal’s Velocicoaster ride. It’s a great system!
Disney World announced that TRON Lightcycle Run, will provide guests with a double-sided, digitized locker system to store bags and loose items while they race their Lightcycle.
Small items, such as cell phones and glasses, can go in a small compartment located in your ride vehicle.
Universal Orlando uses a similar system on its VelociCoaster ride and it works well! You use one side of the locker before boarding. Upon exiting the ride, you access your locker from the opposite side.
Inside the TRON coaster queue, these complimentary lockers will pair directly with your MagicBand, MagicBand+ or Key to the World Card so you can easily lock and reopen your locker with a quick tap.
It’s not likely this system will work with MagicMobile but a feature may be coming to the Disney World mobile app in the future.
For guests without a MagicBand or Key to the World Card, a locker card will be provided at no charge.
All items must be placed either in a locker before you board your Lightcycle, or in a small compartment located on the attraction vehicle that can hold items such as cellphones, glasses or wallets.

How to Ride Tron at Magic Kingdom | Virtual Queue System
Virtual queue system + tips for riding TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom
Disney World announced that Tron Light Cycle Run will open at Magic Kingdom with a virtual queue system. Here’s how you can get on the ride, starting on April 4, 2023 when Tron officially opens at Walt Disney World.
Tron Virtual Queue
When TRON Lightcycle Run opens it will use a virtual queue system to eliminate the need to stand in line for several hours.
I expect this will be similar to the virtual queue system that was rolled out for Rise of the Resistance, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind when they opened. Guardians is still using the virtual queue system.
To join the virtual queue, you’ll do so via the My Disney Experience app.
A standby queue will not be available.
Individual Lightning Entry for TRON
You also have the option to purchase individual – or à la carte – Lightning Lane entry in the My Disney Experience app.
On the day of your visit, go to the Disney Genie Service Tip Board in the Disney World app to choose an arrival window and make your purchase.
Check the app on the day of your visit for pricing and availability.
Individual Lightning Lane purchases sell out very quickly. I recommend staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel (and other select hotels) because you’ll be able to make your purchase at 7 am.
All other guests must wait until the theme park opens to purchase Individual Lightning Lane passes.

Is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party worth it?
I’m asked this all the time and have given this a lot of thought. And let me just say I was asked this when tickets were $80 each. As you can see they are significantly higher now.
I do think it’s a terrific event and I receive only positive feedback from clients about MVMCP. If you’ve never been before I think it’s worth doing at least once.
The event doesn’t change that much from year-to-year so it might not be something you need to do every year.
And if you don’t already have a regular ticket for Magic Kingdom, you can enter as early at 4:00 PM with your Christmas party ticket, giving you 8 hours of time in the park - with 3 hours of ride time before the party starts.
Event Times
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will take place from 7:00 PM to midnight.
These date-specific event tickets do not require an additional theme park ticket or theme park reservation.
Throughout Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, you can:
Delight in the amazingly festive Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks show!
Gather to watch Disney Characters give a yuletide nod to the season during Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.
Get the perfect picture with Disney pals dressed in their Christmas best!
Make your night extra sweet when you explore the park searching for cookies and cocoa.
Take in the elaborate decorations that bring the spirit of the season to life!
Will the rides be operating in the park during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2022?
Yes! Below is a list of popular rides and attractions that will be operating during the event. While it might be fun to do a ride or two, you shouldn’t plan on doing many rides at all.
You’re paying a decent amount of money to be in the Magic Kingdom after hours for a special event.
The event will fly by because you’re having so much fun. Some of your time will go to reserving a good spot to watch Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks show and the Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. Not to mention the various character events taking place and stopping for cookies and hot chocolate.
My recommendation is to do a ride or two, but overall it’s about the Christmas party.
Attractions That Operate during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party:
Explore each land throughout Magic Kingdom park and discover iconic attractions.
Highlights include:
Fantasyland
Frontierland
Liberty Square
Tomorrowland
And many more!
All attractions and experiences are subject to change without notice.
