What to Expect at Zootopia: Better Zoogether! at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Get ready to step into the world of Zootopia at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! The new Zootopia: Better Zoogether! attraction brings Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, Gazelle, and brand-new characters to life in a spectacular 4D show at the Tree of Life Theater. Here’s everything you need to know before your next Walt Disney World visit.

I’m so excited to share the details about one of the newest additions coming to Walt Disney World — the Zootopia: Better Zoogether! attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. As someone who’s always on the lookout for what’s new at the parks, I couldn’t wait to dig into what this experience has in store.

When you make your way over to the Tree of Life Theater (home to past fan-favorites like “It’s Tough to be a Bug”), you’ll step right into the celebration of Zoogether Day. This is where the world of Zootopia comes alive on stage with familiar faces and brand-new friends. One of the standouts is Heidi Howler, a slick-talking wolf who hosts the Zoogether Day LIVE! broadcast with excitement, energy, and — of course — plenty of howling.

Of course, the stars of the show are none other than Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Not only will they appear in the attraction itself, but you’ll also find them greeting guests over on Discovery Island at the Zoogether Day Gathering Spot. For me, that’s one of the coolest parts — the chance to meet these characters in person before or after seeing them in the show.

The Zoogether Day festivities highlight the different biomes of Zootopia in a way that only Disney could pull off. Guests will see:

  • An ice-skating spectacular straight from Tundratown

  • Synchronized swimming inspired by Marsh Market

  • Tiny mouse drone shows lighting up the skies over Little Rodentia

  • A grand musical finale from Gazelle herself

What makes this even more special is that the cast from the original Zootopia movie — including Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman — are returning to lend their voices. On top of that, Disney Animation filmmakers Jared Bush and Byron Howard worked hand-in-hand with Walt Disney Imagineering to create a seamless blend of film and theme park magic. That’s how you know this will be more than just another show — it’s truly going to immerse us in the city of Zootopia.

And if you’re a Disney fan like me, here’s a little extra magic: previews are expected later this fall for Cast Members, Annual Passholders, and Disney Vacation Club Members. I’ll be keeping a close eye on those announcements, because you can bet I’ll be there the second they open the doors.

This new 4D show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom feels like the perfect addition to a park that’s all about celebrating the natural world. Zootopia: Better Zoogether! not only brings beloved characters to life but also reminds us that our world, like Zootopia’s, is profoundly interconnected.

I know I’ll be heading straight for the Tree of Life Theater on my next visit to Animal Kingdom. Between the energy of the live show, the chance to meet Judy and Nick, and the incredible details Disney always delivers, this attraction sounds like it’s going to be a must-see in 2025.

So, are you ready to experience Zootopia: Better Zoogether! at Walt Disney World? I know I am — and I think it’s safe to say this is going to be one of the wildest new shows at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Where to Dine for Free on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas

Sailing on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas? You don’t have to spend extra to eat well! I explored every included dining spot onboard — from buffets and pizza to tacos and elegant dinners. Here’s my first-hand guide to the best free restaurants so you can plan your perfect foodie cruise.

Picture of plates of food with a anther picture of Utopia of the Seas cruise ship

If you’re like me, one of the best parts of cruising is the food. And on Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas, there’s no shortage of incredible included dining options. That’s right — many of the best meals onboard are already covered in your cruise fare. As someone who loves both eating well and saving money, I made it my mission to try all the Utopia of the Seas restaurants where you can dine for free.

Below, I’m sharing my favorites — from poolside snacks to elegant dinners — so you can plan your foodie adventure at sea.

Windjammer Marketplace

The Windjammer is my go-to spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s buffet-style, with a massive variety of dishes from around the world. I love grabbing a plate of fresh fruit in the morning or sampling new international flavors at night.

Main Dining Room

Every evening brings a new three-course menu — and it’s all included. Think lobster tail on formal night, filet mignon, or escargot. The atmosphere is beautiful, but there’s no strict dress code, so I often keep it casual.

Sorrento’s Pizza

Located on the Royal Promenade, Sorrento’s serves pizza until late at night. Perfect after a show or a few hours of dancing.

Café Promenade

Open 24 hours, this spot keeps me fueled with coffee, pastries, and light bites.

Park Café

Tucked in Central Park, it’s quieter and perfect for breakfast or a light lunch. Don’t miss the fresh salads and sandwiches.

Solarium Bistro

Mediterranean-inspired and steps from the adults-only Solarium — I come here for fresh Greek salads, tzatziki, and lamb chops.

El Loco Fresh

Poolside tacos, burritos, and nachos? Yes, please.

Boardwalk Dog House

Gourmet hot dogs with a variety of toppings. A must-try on a sunny day.

The Spare Tire

This new poolside food truck has incredible pulled pork sandwiches and flatbreads.

Room Service (Some Items)

Continental breakfast is free — great for slow mornings on the balcony.

Watch my full video guide to see these dining spots in action:

If you’re planning a Royal Caribbean cruise from Florida, make sure you save this list. The free dining on Utopia of the Seas is worth the trip alone.

Universal Orlando Attraction Closures & Refurbishments – 2025 & Beyond

Several rides at Universal Orlando Resort will be closing temporarily for refurbishment in 2025, with one major coaster saying goodbye for good. Here’s the full list of dates so you can plan ahead.

Heads Up: A Few Attractions Are Taking a Short Break! 🛠️

If you’re planning a Universal Orlando trip in late 2025 or early 2027, it’s always smart to check which attractions might be down during your visit. While most rides and shows run year-round, the parks schedule short refurbishments to keep everything running smoothly — and sometimes, those closures bring major changes. Here’s what’s on the calendar right now (dates subject to change).

treasure room inside revenge of the mummy ride at universal orlando

Revenge of the Mummy

📅 Closed August 11 – 13, 2025
Good news — this fan-favorite indoor coaster is only going down for a quick three-day tune-up. If you’re visiting around these dates, plan to ride before or after the closure window.

Hollywood Rip Ride RockitPERMANENT CLOSURE

📅 Closing August 18, 2025
This is the big one. The towering music coaster at Universal Studios Florida will be closing permanently to make way for a brand-new experience. Universal hasn’t announced what’s replacing it yet, but stay tuned — we’ll update as soon as details drop.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong

📅 Closed August 20 – September 3, 2025
Kong is taking a short break for maintenance. This dark ride is popular for its massive animatronic finale, so a little TLC will only make it better.

Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls

📅 Closed October 6 – 31, 2025
This cartoon-inspired log flume is closing for a few weeks during the fall. Considering the Florida heat, you may not miss it too much — but it’s still a fun one to ride if you love getting soaked.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

📅 Closed November 10 – 20, 2025
The signature attraction inside Hogwarts Castle will be closed for a short refurbishment. If this is a must-do for you, try to work around these dates when visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade.

Volcano Bay – Seasonal Closure

📅 Closed October 26, 2026 – Reopening on or before March 24, 2027
Universal’s water theme park will be taking its longest break yet for seasonal maintenance. While Volcano Bay usually closes briefly in winter, this extended downtime could mean big upgrades are in store.

Plan Ahead & Stay Flexible
Attraction closures are a normal part of theme park operations, but with a little planning, you can still enjoy an incredible Universal Orlando vacation. Keep checking back here at OrlandoParksGuy.com for updates — especially if more details are released about Rip Ride Rockit’s replacement.

Star of the Seas Arrives in Puerto Rico

Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, Star of the Seas, made a stunning arrival in San Juan, Puerto Rico, ahead of her highly anticipated debut from Port Canaveral. This next-generation Oasis Class vessel is set to sail exciting Caribbean itineraries, giving cruisers a sneak peek at her ports of call before she begins regular voyages from Florida.

Star of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest Icon-class vessel, recently made a technical call at the port of Ponce, Puerto Rico, marking a key step as it prepares for its official debut.

The ship arrived on August 4, 2025, after crossing the Atlantic Ocean for the first time.

According to local reports, the Star of the Seas will remain docked in Ponce for three days.

Star of the Seas arrives in Puerto Rico on August 5, 2025.

Prior to its Puerto Rican stop, the LNG-powered ship also conducted a technical visit to Cadiz, Spain.

The vessel, delivered by the Meyer Turky shipyard in July 2025, is set to welcome its first paying passengers on August 16, 2025.

On that date, it will commence a series of preview cruises from its homeport at Port Canaveral, featuring three- and four-night itineraries that include stops at Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.

Following its preview cruises, the Star of the Seas will be christened by singer and actress Diana Ross, its godmother, before embarking on its maiden official cruise on August 31, 2025.

As the second ship in the Icon-class series, Star of the Seas is designed to offer weeklong Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral. The itineraries will cover a variety of destinations in both the Western and Eastern Caribbean, including San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Cozumel, Mexico; and Basseterre, St. Kitts. Every cruise will feature a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Royal Caribbean continues to expand the Icon-class fleet, with two more ships expected to join Star of the Seas in the near future, promising to further enhance Caribbean cruising options from Florida.

The first to debut will be the new Legend of the Seas, scheduled to begin service in the Mediterranean in 2026.

This ship will mark a significant addition to Royal Caribbean's fleet, offering enhanced features and experiences tailored to the Mediterranean cruising market.

Following the Legend of the Seas, a fourth, yet-to-be-named vessel is planned to enter service in 2027, continuing the expansion and modernization of the fleet.

Both ships are expected to deliver innovative amenities and cutting-edge design, further elevating the cruising experience for guests in the upcoming years.

Photo Tour of Disney's Art of Animation Resort - Little Mermaid Rooms

Thinking of staying in a Little Mermaid Standard Room at Disney's Art of Animation Resort? Join me for a photo tour of this popular Disney Value Resort! I'll take you inside one of these uniquely themed rooms and give you an idea of what to expect during your stay. Plus, since Art of Animation was originally planned as Phase 2 of Pop Century, I'll show you how the Little Mermaid rooms compare to their Pop Century counterparts, highlighting the key differences in beds, space, and overall vibe. Find out why many consider the Little Mermaid rooms to be the best of the Disney Value Resorts

Recently I had an opportunity to stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort in a Little Mermaid Standard Room. There are two sections to Art of Animation: the Little Mermaid Standard Rooms section (regular hotel room with 2 beds) and the Family Suites section. Today I’m writing specifically about the Standard Rooms.

How Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Little Mermaid Rooms Compare to rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

Art of Animation was originally planned to be phase 2 of Disney’s Pop Century Resort so there are a lot of similarities. Both, Little Mermaid and Pop Century have nearly identical exteriors, only the themes are different.

Rooms are about the same size at and they both have the similar, if not identical, floor plans. Even the lobby and food courts are nearly identical.

The maximum occupancy in each standard room is 4 guests plus one child under the age of 3 at both resorts.

Little Mermaid rooms have 2 queen beds whereas Pop Century has 1 queen bed and one queen-size murphy style bed. While Pop Century gives you flexible space, Little Mermaid rooms are a more traditional hotel room.

In the Disney Value Resort pecking order, Little Mermaid rooms are at the top, and considered to be a crossover resort to the Moderate category hotels.

This means that the price to upgrade to a Disney Moderate hotel isn’t that much more than a Little Mermaid room. For example, the average nightly rate is $240 per night for a Little Mermaid room. Disney’s Coronado Springs, Standard view is about $260 per night.

Disney’s Pop Century has an average nightly rate of $203 per night and the All Stars are about $185 per night.

Are Little Mermaid Standard Rooms worth the additional cost?

Yes! Rooms have upgraded softgoods, better soundproofing, a very kid-friendly theme, and they are the only Value rooms to offer 2 traditional queen size beds.

Throughout the entire resort you’re surrounded in the artistry, enchantment and magic of Disney and Pixar movies. Disney’s Art of Animation “draws” you and your family in to become a part of some of your animated favorites.

IMG_5927.jpg

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Little Mermaid Standard Rooms have 2 queen beds. This is the only Disney Value resort that offers regular queen beds. A limited number of king bed rooms are available.

IMG_5926.jpg

Rooms have a small table and 2 chairs. The trend within the Disney Value Resorts these days is to have 1 queen bed, and 1 queen murphy bed that doubles as a table.

Little Mermaid rooms are ideal if you prefer not to flip the bed up and down. By the way, it looks like someone left a few notes for you on the table! Be sure to check them out!

IMG_5928.jpg

Bathrooms are small, this is typical for both Value and Moderate hotels at Disney World, but the bathroom and vanity are separate. This not only gives you more room, but makes it possible for more than one person to get ready at the same time.

IMG_5929.jpg

Vanities have one sink, same as the other Value Resorts. If you prefer 2 sinks, you’d have to go with a Moderate Resort.

IMG_5935.jpg

To maximize space and to create a little privacy, a Little Mermaid themed curtain divides the bath and vanity area from the room. It’s a great way to maximize space.

Art of Animation Resort has the some of the most-kid friendly hotels rooms on Disney World property and have a whimsical theme throughout.

IMG_5970.jpg

As with all Disney Value Resorts, larger than life icons are found throughout the resort. Here’s Ursula who looks overlooks one of the pools. It’s reminiscent of the end scene in the movie when Ursula grows in size and rises of the ocean, except here it’s not scary.

The Little Mermaid section of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is about a 5 minute walk to the Disney Skyliner station. If you’d like to see which rooms are closest to the Skyliner station, see my video on Disney Skyliner here.

There are 3 pools at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. As a guest of this hotel, you’re free to use any of the pools on site. The feature pool is centrally located to the resort, near the Nemo section and features underwater music. The Little Mermaid section has its own pool and so does the Cars section, which is by far my favorite!

The pool in the Cars section has cabanas that are oversized traffic cones. There’s no extra cost to use them, they’re just here for fun!

Be sure to take a tour around the entire resort. There’s a lot explore, especially the Cars section.

New Disney World Attraction Announced for 2026

A brand-new animated experience is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2026. “The Magic of Disney Animation” will immerse guests in the legacy of Walt Disney Animation Studios, complete with an indoor playground, reimagined courtyard, and a heartfelt short film inspired by Once Upon a Studio.

Key Points

  • Disney is debuting a new animated adventure, "The Magic of Disney Animation," at Hollywood Studios in Disney World in 2026.

  • The attraction is inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios and an Emmy Award-winning short film, offering interactive exhibits and family-friendly experiences.

  • Highlights include a whimsical interpretation of the studio's early days, a short film screening, an all-new indoor playground, and a reimagined Animation Courtyard.

  • Several existing buildings will be redesigned to align with the new theme, with closures starting from Sept. 25, 2025.

In 2026, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will introduce an exciting new animated experience titled The Magic of Disney Animation. This attraction draws inspiration from the legendary Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California, as well as the acclaimed Emmy Award-winning short film Once Upon a Studio.

Located in the building currently home to Star Wars: Launch Bay, guests will be transported into a whimsical reimagining of the studio’s early days. The experience will showcase Disney characters bringing various animation departments to life, providing an immersive look at the creative process behind Disney’s beloved films and shorts.

This new attraction promises to blend nostalgia with innovation, offering fans a unique peek into the magic of Disney animation history while celebrating the artistry and storytelling that have defined the studio for nearly a century.

Portraits will come to life in the Production Gallery, creating an immersive experience that echoes a memorable moment from "Once Upon a Studio." This interactive display allows guests to engage closely with beloved characters in a dynamic setting.

Meanwhile, the Screening Theater offers a short film designed for all ages, promising enjoyment for the entire family. The storytelling captures the magic and creativity behind the scenes, providing insight into the animation process.

Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to learn how to draw some of their favorite characters through guided tutorials. After honing their skills, guests can meet these fan-favorite characters in person, adding a personal touch to their visit and deepening their connection to the world of animation.

Families with younger children will delight in "Drawn to Wonderland," an all-new indoor playground inspired by Mary Blair's iconic concept art for Alice in Wonderland. This vibrant and imaginative play area features an oversized flower garden equipped with musical instruments, encouraging little ones to explore sound and creativity. The whimsical Mad Tea Party playset offers fun climbing and spinning activities, while the Tulgey Wood exploration area invites kids to embark on adventurous discovery through winding paths and playful surprises.

Adjacent to the indoor playground, the Animation Courtyard is being transformed into "The Walt Disney Studios," an inviting outdoor space designed with families

Beginning September 25, 2025, Animation Courtyard, "Star Wars: Launch Bay," and "Disney Jr. Play and Dance!" will close to make way for an exciting transformation. The exteriors of several existing buildings will be reimagined with design elements inspired by iconic architecture found in Burbank, creating a fresh and immersive atmosphere for guests.

While these areas are undergoing changes, visitors can still enjoy "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" and "Walt Disney Presents," ensuring that there are plenty of memorable experiences to enjoy during the transformation period. This reimagining reflects a commitment to enhancing storytelling and guest immersion in the heart of the park.

Disney’s New Nighttime Parade Lights Up Magic Kingdom – “Starlight Dream the Night Away” Parade

Disney has launched its first new nighttime parade in over a decade — and it’s spectacular. Starlight Dream the Night Away lights up Magic Kingdom with glowing floats, classic characters, and all-new music. Watch it live now, only on Orlando Parks Guy.

Disney’s Starlight Dream the Night Away Parade at Magic Kingdom

Disney’s Starlight Dream the Night Away Parade at Magic Kingdom

There's a brand-new reason to stay late at Magic Kingdom—Disney has officially debuted the Starlight Dream the Night Away parade, and it’s everything you’ve dreamed of… and more. Is Disney turning the corner with better entertainment? I think so…

As the sun sets over Cinderella Castle, this new nighttime parade transforms Main Street, U.S.A. into a glowing river of color, music, and beloved Disney characters. From Mickey and Minnie in illuminated costumes to stunning floats themed to Frozen, Moana, and Tiana, this is the kind of Disney magic you have to see to believe.

Good news—you don’t have to wait for your next trip to see it. I’m have the full parade on YouTube!

👉 Watch the Starlight Dream the Night Away Parade Live Here
(Don’t forget to subscribe and turn on notifications—this is one parade you don’t want to miss.)

What Makes This Parade Special?

  • Brand-new soundtrack and float technology

  • Appearances by newer characters like Mirabel, Elsa, and Raya

  • Gorgeous lighting effects that sparkle against the Florida night sky

  • It’s Disney’s first new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom in over a decade!

Planning a Trip to See It in Person?

If you’re thinking about visiting Walt Disney World in 2025, be sure to add this parade to your must-do list at Magic Kingdom. It’s a perfect end to your Disney day—and a reminder of why so many of us keep coming back to the parks.

Where to Watch Disney Starlight Dream Parade

This parade is quickly becoming a fan favorite and is expected to draw big crowds throughout the year. The best place to watch a parade at Magic Kingdom is along Main Street, U.S.A., especially near the Partners Statue in front of Cinderella Castle. This spot gives you a picture-perfect backdrop of the castle behind the floats. For the most immersive experience, grab a spot on the curb about 90-120 minutes before showtime — ideally near the Emporium or Casey’s Corner, where you’ll have great visibility and easy access to snacks or a quick exit afterward. If you're looking for a slightly less crowded but still excellent view, consider watching from Liberty Square near the Hall of Presidents, where the parade route is a bit narrower and more intimate.

Stay tuned to Orlando Parks Guy for more Disney World coverage, ride previews, hotel reviews, and insider tips to help you plan the perfect Orlando vacation.

What to Do in Nassau Bahamas WITHOUT a Cruise Excursion (2025 Walking Tour)

Explore Nassau, Bahamas without a shore excursion! Here's what cruise passengers can see on foot, from the Straw Market to Atlantis and more.

Today I’m in Nassau, Bahamas, and I don’t have a single excursion booked. But here’s the thing… I don’t need one. I’m going to show you a few places you can explore all on your own, and have a great time on your port day, especially if you’re a first-time cruiser.

Hello and welcome back to the channel, and welcome to Nassau. Most of the cruisers are headed off to beach resorts, but I like to walk around the port area in the morning, then head back to the ship for lunch and enjoy the ship with fewer people onboard. Whether you're cruising with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Disney Cruise Line, or Norwegian, everything I visit today is close to the cruise port.

Here are 6 things you can do without an excursion in Nassau.

People shopping at the port marketpalace in nassau

Port Marketplace, Nassau Bahamas

Watch my video tour of Nassau, Bahamas:

#6 Port Marketplace

Once you’re on the pier you'll walk straight into the brand new Port Marketplace — and this is a huge upgrade from what Nassau used to be like.

The Bahamian Port Authority recently gave this entire area a major facelift. It’s cleaner, better organized, and feels a lot safer and more welcoming than it did just a few years ago.

You’ll find colorful buildings and plenty of shops selling local souvenirs, T-shirts, tropical drinks, ice cream, artisan soaps, seashells, and jewelry.

There’s even a designated area for hair braiding now — something that used to take place in a makeshift park across the street in a park. Now it’s all been moved into a proper space right here in the marketplace, which makes the whole experience more comfortable for everyone. Braids start around $40. While my wife gets her hair braided, my son and I like to walk around and check out the different stalls.

The Global Porter is one of my favorites - it’s one of the larger shops in the port - it’s like a department store with things you can wear, collectables, and even things for your house. The Port Marketplace leads you to the Straw Market and taxi depot. It’s so easy to find the Straw Market now.

People shopping at the straw market in nassau

Straw Market is a legendary destination for purchasing souvenirs in Nassau.

#5 Straw Market

And speaking of the Straw Market, now is a great time to walk across the street and check it out. So, here you leave the actual port complex, and you’re officially in the city of Nassau. This indoor market is packed wall-to-wall with vendors selling things like handwoven straw bags, hats, wood carvings, T-shirts, and souvenirs with your favorite island slogans.

It’s lively, it’s crowded, and yes — it can feel a little overwhelming if you’re not used to being in close quarters. But that’s part of the experience.

Most of the items you see here are negotiable, so don’t be afraid to politely haggle. Just keep in mind — many of the vendors are selling very similar merchandise, so take your time, compare prices, and if you’re after something unique or handmade, be sure to ask who made it.

The Straw Market isn’t air-conditioned, so if you’re looking for that classic Bahamian market atmosphere, this is it.

Straw work has been part of island life here for centuries, But the actual Straw Market as we know it began in the 1940s, when the tourism industry started to grow and locals began selling their handwoven crafts directly to visitors.

This all started with a handful of women selling handmade goods under umbrellas.  Today, it’s a symbol of local entrepreneurship, especially for Bahamian women. You’ll notice that the stalls in here are all women-owned, keeping the tradition alive even today.

I hope I don’t spoil any nostalgia here, but the current building is actually relatively new, built after a devastating fire destroyed the original structure in 2001.

And while you will find plenty of mass-produced souvenirs these days, there’s still genuine handmade work here if you look for it — like intricately woven bags, dolls, and even name-customized items made right on the spot.

It’s well worth a walk through if you want to take home something with a story behind it.

Once you’ve had your fill of browsing the Straw Market, it’s an easy walk just a few blocks west along the waterfront to one of Nassau’s newest attractions — the Margaritaville Beach Resort.

lobby of the british colonial hotel

#4 British Colonial Hotel

On the way to Margaritaville, you’ll pass by the beautiful British Colonial Hotel.

This modern, family-friendly spot is open to the public, and even if you’re not staying here, there’s plenty you can check out — including the lobby and grounds.. Let’s head that way.”

If you're a hotel buff like I am, you’ll love the details here — elegant columns, polished marble floors, a painted ceiling above the check-in desk, and thoughtfully curated artwork throughout.

The British Colonial Hotel was originally built in 1924 on the site of Old Fort Nassau, which dated back to the 1600s. The fort was demolished, and the hotel was constructed as part of Nassau’s growing appeal to international travelers.

Over the decades, it’s hosted British royalty, world leaders, and Hollywood stars. In fact, it even had a cameo in the James Bond film 'Never Say Never Again' with Sean Connery.

After a few ownership changes and a closure during the pandemic, the hotel underwent a major renovation and reopened in 2024, restoring much of its historic charm while adding modern amenities.

The British Colonial Hotel was considered Nassau’s most luxurious hotel for many years.

Now, while the hotel does technically have a beachfront, it’s not exactly the postcard-perfect Bahamas setting. You’re basically looking out over the harbor and the cruise ships. Still, for anyone who enjoys a bit of architecture and history — or just wants to cool off in a gorgeous air-conditioned space — the British Colonial is a great stop on your Nassau walking tour.

blue flip-flop in the lobby of Margaritaville Nassau

Margaritaville in Nassau offers a vibrant island escape with tropical drinks, live music, and waterfront dining in a laid-back Caribbean setting.

#3 Margaritaville Resort

Just a few more minutes down the road and we’ve arrived at Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau — one of the most popular new stops for cruise travelers looking to enjoy some off-ship relaxation.

Even if you’re not staying here, the lobby is open to the public — and it’s definitely worth walking through. You’ll find that signature Margaritaville flip-flop - each resort has one in a unique color. Ours in Orlando is ruby red. : It’s great for some photo ops while you're here.

Just beyond the lobby, the resort opens up to an impressive pool deck and water park that overlooks the harbor. There’s a lazy river, water slides, a FlowRider surf simulator, and plenty of loungers and cabana rentals if you’re just looking to chill.

Now, here’s the important part — you can’t access the pool or water park unless you purchase a day pass, which is available directly through the resort or through some cruise lines as an excursion add-on. Prices vary, but it’s generally one of the more expensive day pass options in Nassau - somewhere around $120 per person.

Still, even without a pass, walking through Margaritaville is a great way to soak in some tropical energy, grab a drink at the bar, or just enjoy exploring a nice hotel before heading back toward the ship.

Shops on both sides of the street on Bay Street in Nassau Bahamas

Bay Street in Nassau is a bustling thoroughfare known for its vibrant marketplaces, duty-free shops, and colorful colonial architecture.

#2 Bay Street

On the way back we’ll stop at Bay Street to hit the shops. But first, I see one more attraction I must stop at —Dairy Queen. I love Dairy Queen - it’s the one chain restaurant we don’t have in Orlando, so I have to make a stop. And just for fun, there’s even a McDonalds across the street.

I pass by the Pirates of Nassau Museum, I’ve been here before and it’s a great time - lots of detailed exhibits inside, and it’s especially fun for kids. It’s just a block off Bay Street is one of Nassau’s most unique attractions.

It dives into the Golden Age of Piracy — when Nassau was once a real pirate stronghold. If you think learning about some real pirates is pretty cool, hit that like button.

As we make our way back toward the heart of town, we’re walking along Bay Street, Nassau’s main shopping corridor — and, this is where you’ll find the usual mix of jewelry stores, designer brands, and locally-owned souvenir shops.

If you’re looking for Pandora charms, perfume, watches, or luxury sunglasses, you’ll find them here — often at better prices than back home.. Just be prepared: some shops can be a bit pushy, especially the larger jewelry retailers that cater heavily to cruise passengers.

You’ll also spot smaller, independent shops selling T-shirts, sneakers, rum cakes, and handmade goods, though prices can vary.

Even if you’re not shopping, Bay Street is a great place for people-watching and soaking in a bit of the local rhythm. It’s one of the busiest streets in Nassau — and it connects many of the attractions we’ve been visiting today.

The casino at Atlantis Resort offers a vibrant gaming experience with a wide range of slots, table games, and poker in an upscale, tropical setting.

#1 Atlantis Resort

Atlantis is pretty much an all-morning visit by itself, maybe combined with a walk down Bay Street. Rather than take a taxi, we hopped on a water taxi right from the pier to Paradise Island — the easiest and most scenic way to get to Atlantis Resort from the cruise port.

The boat ride itself is half the fun. You’ll cruise right past the harbor and get up close and personal with the massive cruise ships — it’s a whole different perspective seeing them from the water.

Once you arrive at Atlantis, there are a few things you can explore without a day pass. The Marina Village is open to the public — a pastel-colored shopping and dining district where you can stroll past luxury yachts. There’s a Starbucks here with indoor and outdoor seating.

Inside Atlantis, you enter through and browse high-end shops like Balenciaga, Rolex, and other designer names.

The casino is also open to the public, and you’re free to play here. If you came on a Disney ship and miss having a casino, this is your chance to try your luck. Even if you’re not playing casino games, you can still walk through and enjoy the air conditioning and sculptures.

That said, the main parts of the resort — including the aquarium, water park, hotel lobby, and beach access — are all off-limits unless you’ve purchased a day pass or are staying at the resort. A pass to the water park, beach, and pool will run about $250 per person.

Still, it’s a fun little adventure, and the whole experience — including the boat ride — makes it feel like you’ve gone much farther from port than you actually have

So there you have it — a few places to explore while walking around in Nassau, all on foot or by water taxi, and no excursion needed. From local shopping to historic hotels, from resort walk-throughs to pirate history and yacht spotting, there’s actually a lot you can see here on your own.

If it’s your first time in Nassau, here are a few quick tips:

☀️ Wear sunscreen — the sun here is no joke, and you’ll be walking a lot.

💵 Bring small bills — cash is helpful at the Straw Market and for tipping, but most shops accept cards. US currency is fine.

🚶 Don’t be afraid to explore — most of the popular spots are within easy walking distance, and the area around the port has become much cleaner, safer, and more tourist-friendly in recent years.

🚤 And if you’re up for it, take that water taxi to Atlantis. Even if you can’t access the full resort, the views alone are worth the trip. It’s a fun mini-excursion that you can do.

EPCOT Festival of the Holidays 2025: Dates, Candlelight Processional & More

The 2025 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is back with festive food, joyful entertainment, and cultural traditions from around the world. Here's everything you need to know—dates, Candlelight Processional info, Holiday Kitchens, and more.

The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is set to run from November 28 to December 30, 2025 offering guests a rich holiday experience filled with festive activities and entertainment.

Visitors can indulge in Holiday Kitchens featuring seasonal treats, enjoy live performances such as the Candlelight Processional, the uplifting “JOYFUL!” show, and explore culturally immersive World Showcase Storytellers.

Each country will spotlight unique stories and performers, including:

  • Mexico Pavilion – Las Posadas Celebration

  • Norway Pavilion – A Mischievous Magical Barn Santa

  • China Pavilion – Chinese Lion Dancer

  • Italy Pavilion – La Befana

  • Japan Pavilion – Daruma Storyteller

  • Between the Morocco and France Pavilions – Hanukkah Storyteller

  • France Pavilion – Père Noël

  • United Kingdom Pavilion – Father Christmas

  • Canada Pavilion – Canadian Holiday Voyageurs

Performances happen frequently, but showtimes can be confirmed each day in the My Disney Experience app.

Taste the Season with Holiday Kitchens

Food and drinks are a staple ingredient of EPCOT festivals, and this year’s Holiday Kitchens will be serving up an amazing assortment of bites and beverages. These standalone booths will highlight heartwarming holiday recipes and festive flavors from around the world – we can’t wait to try them all.

The final list of vendors is still being cooked up, but Disney shared that there will be a blend of new offerings and returning favorites. For loyal fans of Disney’s Foodie Guides, guests can look forward to a full Festival of the Holidays-focused guide coming at a later date.

A highlight for families is Olaf’s Holiday Scavenger Hunt, where guests can search for Olaf in 13 different locations across EPCOT, with maps available for purchase.

The Candlelight Processional 2025 at America Gardens Theatre brings the Christmas story to life through a stirring combination of a celebrity narrator, a large massed choir, a 50-piece orchestra, herald trumpets, and the Voices of Liberty, offering a deeply moving holiday experience.

A highlight of the Candlelight Processional is the celebrity narrators who bring the story of Christmas to life onstage, with previous guests of honor including Josh Gad, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jodi Benson. This year’s line-up will be announced at a later date, so be sure to keep checking Disney Travel News for updates.

Candlelight Processional performances are held nightly at 5 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8:15 p.m., with a runtime of approximately 50 minutes. Seating is first-come, first-served and often fills up fast, so I suggest planning ahead if you want to experience this stunning show.

Dining packages with reserved seating are another great option for guests – more details will be available soon.

Additionally, the Living with the Land attraction transforms into the Glimmering Greenhouses, featuring a festive holiday-themed tour complete with lights and seasonal decorations.

New Offer for Disney World’s Holiday Season

Guests planning a holiday trip can take advantage of savings up to 20% on select Disney Resort hotel stays. Adding a four-day ticket to the package also includes a $100 Disney Shopping and Dining gift card. This special offer becomes available for booking starting July 10.

Olaf’s Holiday Tradition Expedition Scavenger Hunt returns this year, which sends guests on a jolly journey to locate Olaf in 13 different spots throughout EPCOT.

Guests can purchase a map and stickers, available at select festival merchandise locations. The quest is to find holiday traditions that Olaf has discovered in every pavilion. Once they have them all, guests can visit Creations Shop or World Traveler at International Gateway to redeem a gift that’s worth melting for.

How to Use Uber / Lyft at Disney World and Universal Orlando

Uber and Lyft offer convenient rides to Walt Disney World, Orlando International Airport, and Universal Orlando. Avoid parking and shuttles with direct service, competitive prices, easy booking, and ride options from shared to premium. Park drop-offs are at designated zones; airport rides have real-time tracking for timely pickups. Perfect for solo travelers or groups, they simplify your Orlando trip.

Need to get to a Disney World restaurant or travel between Disney Resort hotels? Going to Orlando International Airport? How about a ride between Disney World and Universal Orlando? Uber and Lyft are widely available in Orlando and offer fast, reliable transportation.

Here are some of the most popular questions I get about using a Uber and Lyft in Orlando.

How much does it cost to go from Disney World to Universal Resort?

Fares will vary but usually around $20 - $30 each way.

Which is cheaper in Orlando? Lyft or Uber?

Lyft tends to have better rates than Uber. For example, Universal to Orlando International Airport is about $32 with Uber. Lyft is about $24.

Check both Uber and Lyft to compare rates before each ride.

Did you know that Disney World is 50 square miles? That’s twice the size of New York City!

How much does it cost to travel within Walt Disney World?

Average fares are about $8 - $16.

How long will I have to wait for Uber / Lyft to arrive?

Less than 10 minutes, in most cases cars come immediately.

Orlando International Airport (MCO)

Orlando International Airport (MCO)

Can you use Uber or Lyft from Orlando International Airport?

Yes, Uber and Lyft are available at Orlando Airport (MCO). Look for the “Ride App” signs on Level 2 to you guide to the pick up area.

Uber and Lyft will take you directly to your hotel where as some shuttle services stop at multiple hotels along the way.

Uber and Lyft are readily available at Disney World and Universal hotels when it’s time to go back to the airport (booo!)

Where does Uber and Lyft pick up at Universal Orlando?

Use the dedicated Uber Zone located in the Jurassic Park Garage. Uber is the official rideshare provider of Universal (Disney went with Lyft) so you’ll only see signs for Uber. But both companies pick up and drop off from this location.

If you’re visiting Volcano Bay water park, you can take a complimentary shuttle from the Uber Zone.

Signs for Uber and Lyft can be found throughout the exit of Universal Orlando directing you where to go.

Signs for Uber and Lyft can be found throughout the exit of Universal Orlando directing you where to go.

Signs for Uber and Lyft can be found throughout the exit of Universal Orlando directing you where to go.

Can Uber and Lyft bypass the parking booths at the Orlando theme parks?

At Disney, yes, drivers will identify themselves to the parking attendant who will direct them to the drop-off area.

At Universal, drivers must use the Uber Zone drop-off center located in the Jurassic Park Garage.

Universal Orlando Resort

Can Uber / Lyft use Disney’s Contemporary Resort for Magic Kingdom drop-off and pick-up?

Sometimes yes, but security guard may redirect your driver to the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC). This is likely to happen during busy times such as holidays and RunDisney weekends.

The official policy is that drivers must use the TTC as this is the official ride-share zone for Magic Kingdom Park.

If you have a dining reservation at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, your driver will be permitted to enter the lot.

How will the driver find me?

Drivers will see your GPS location but it’s helpful to send a message with your location and a description. Communication between you and your driver is important and they appreciate short descriptions!

For example, “I’m near the bell desk at Disney’s Polynesian VIllage Resort, wearing a gray Mickey Mouse shirt and blue shorts.”

How far in advance should I request my ride?

Drivers arrive pretty quick at Walt Disney World and Universal, so request your ride when you are standing in the pick up zone.

If you are requesting a ride from Magic Kingdom Park, first take the monorail or ferry to the Ticket at Transportation Center (TTC), then request your ride. You can only be picked up at the TTC, not at the Magic Kingdom.

Another option is to walk to Disney’s Contemporary Resort and request your ride once you are there.

At the TTC, drivers are probably already queued in the waiting zone and will pull up quickly.

Are car seats available through Uber and Lyft?

Yes, with Uber you can use Uber Car Seat for an additional fee, about $10. This may increase your wait time. Lyft is still working to introduce car seats as an option in Orlando.

Have a question about using Uber or Lyft that wasn’t answered here? Use the comments section below.

My Epic Universe Touring Strategy (No Early Park Admission)

How to spend less time waiting in line at Epic Universe

Planning a trip to Universal’s Epic Universe without Early Park Admission (EPA)? No problem! I have perfected this strategy over multiple visits, so you can spend less time waiting in line. And be sure to catch my bonus insider tips at the end, so you can have even more fun in the park.

Entrance of Epic Universe Theme Park

Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort

Epic Universe Key Strategy Tips:

With this plan, you’ll dodge the worst of the crowds, hit every must-do attraction, and soak up the park’s five immersive portals in the smartest order possible.

  • Arrive 30–45 minutes before official park opening.

  • Skip Super Nintendo World and Harry Potter first thing — hotel guests flood it early.

  • Use the Universal Orlando app to join any Virtual Queues, if offered.

  • Leverage Single Rider lines for re-rides or less important attractions. Single rider lines are about half-the posted wait time.

  • Watch for early line closures in the evening, while the park is opened until 9, some lines shut down prior to that.

Touring Strategy (Starting from Celestial Park)

1. Celestial Park (Rope Drop)

Start your day here — it's central and opens directly to all guests. Resist the temptation to ride Harry Potter Battle at the Ministry, it will have a 3-hour wait at regular park opening, thanks to all the EPA guests who flood this attraction first. The same is true for Super Nintendo World. So, let them wait for 3 hours, we are going to outsmart them and ride later, when the wait is half that time.

Stardust racers at epic universe roller coaster coming down a hill

Stardust Racers

Stardust Racers (minimum 48” to ride) – This high-speed dual-launch coaster is a must-do and best tackled first. But I also recommend trying to ride it again at night. Keep in mind that as soon as the sun goes down, everyone flocks to the ride to experience it in the dark. So the wait time can jump up rapidly. They may even close the queue before 9 pm if the line gets too long. This ride typically has a 20-30 minute wait throughout most of the day.

Constellation Carousel – A whimsical ride you can do now or loop back to later. There’s hardly a long wait throughout most of the day. Try it during the day, and again at night.

Take a moment to watch the fountain shows, too.

2. How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

Great theming and interactive fun await here mid-morning. While most people are rushing to Super Nintendo World and Harry Potter, Isle of Berk is relatively uncrowded. Isle of Berk is 95% outside, which means you won’t have any air conditioning breaks here except for the theater show, The Untrainable Dragon. So visit in the morning when temps are cooler than Orlando’s surface-of-the-sun afternoon temperatures. Along with thunderstorms. (More on thunderstorms coming up.)

universal orlando mobile app showing wait times for Dragon Racer's Rally and Hiccup's Wing Gliders

Meet and Greet with Toothless - Meet Toothless, the beloved dragon from the How to Train Your Dragon series. This experience lets guests get up close with the friendly, animated Night Fury in a dynamic environment that offers photo opportunities and memorable interactions. The wait can easily reach 75 minutes, so if this is a must-do, head here first.

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders (minimum 40” to ride) – A thrilling family coaster, one of the most popular rides in Epic Universe.

Fyre Drill – Prepare to get super wet in this playful boat battle. Wait times remain pretty short until afternoon.

The Untrainable Dragon Show – Check the showtimes and work it into your day. I like to save this one for mid-afternoon when the park is hottest and I need a break, but if you don’t want to come back to this area, see the show any time.

dark universe scenery at epic universe theme park

Dark Universe at Epic Universe | Universal Orlando

3. Dark Universe

Hit this land in early afternoon and have lunch here.

Curse of the Werewolf (minimum 40” to ride) – Start with this coaster. It’s popular, and the line builds throughout the day. Especially when people start leaving Super Nintendo World, it’s a spooky family coaster, not too wild. Stay alert in the barn - and be sure to look up!

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment (minimum 48” to ride) – One of the park’s most ambitious dark rides. I think this is the best ride in the park. Wait times are generally short for this ride throughout the day, often as low as 10 minutes, but may go as high as 35 minutes. The indoor queue is fantastic and you’ll have lots to look at.

inside das steakhaus at epic universe

Das Steakhaus is my recommended restaurant for lunch and/or dinner at Epic Universe

Consider Das Stakehaus for lunch. Das Steakhaus is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever experienced in a theme park. The food and atmosphere are outstanding. Be sure to take a moment to walk around the restaurant at the numerous exhibits. You’ll notice that vampires here are depicted as heroes rather than villains, which is such a creative take.

I also recommend Burning Blade Tavern. It’s a bar first, but they do have a light menu as well. It draws mostly adults but kids are welcome too.

burning blade tavern at epic universe fire show

Burning Blade Tavern erupts every 15 minutes

If these restaurants are a little too dark for you, consider Pizza Moon located nearby in Celestial Park.

people waiting in line at wizarding world harry potter ride

4. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic

Arrive after EPA traffic has moved on. Now this will be far from a walk-on attraction; you’re still going to have quite a wait here. But remember that you’re waiting less with the strategy.

Battle at the Ministry (minimum 40” to ride) – A massive, complex dark ride with a jaw-dropping queue. This is far and away the flagship attraction in the park - when it’s not down, that is. This is an ambitious engineering marvel, and it goes down several times a day. The tip here is to check the app for live updates. Even if the app says it’s closed for the day, keep checking. It may still come back up - I’ve seen this happen on several occasions.

While in Wizarding World, you can do things like play with your interactive wand, explore the shops, and grab a Butter Bear or wizarding snack.

If you’re not a Harry Potter fan, you can skip the show, Le Cirque Arcanus. On the other hand, if you need some air conditioning and a place to relax, by all means, go inside. You’ll find show times on the Universal Orlando app.

5. Super Nintendo World

Visit late afternoon when crowds move on to other portals. It’s also a beautiful portal to visit at dusk. So be sure to return for a walkthrough and to take some great photos.

Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge (minimum 40” to ride) – Expect a wait; likely the ride itself might be a little overrated. I think walking through the queue is better than the ride itself. There are so many things to look at, and if you’re a Nintendo fan, prepare to be blown away. If there’s an impending thunderstorm on the horizon, you get in line to ride out the storm; the queue is all indoors.

Mine Cart Madness (minimum 36” to ride) is a high-energy roller coaster that plunges you into a wild, twisting adventure through an abandoned mine. Wait times hover around 70 minutes throughout the day but tend to drop off some in late afternoon.

Yoshi’s Adventure (minimum 34” to ride) – This slow-moving ride takes you above Super Nintendo World, and is one that most people can do. Even those people who hate rides will enjoy this one. It usually has a short wait time compared to other rides in the park - usually 20- 30 minutes or maybe even less.

While in Nintendo World, play interactive Power-Up Band games - yes, you’ll need to purchase them. And here’s a little secret.

After you complete 3 games, you can enter Shadow Showdown, one of the most overlooked attractions at Epic Universe. I can’t tell you how many people I talked to who have no idea this is even a thing. They just play the games and then leave I guess. Shadow Showdown is another interactive game where you play a high-tech video game using your shadow. I think it’s one of the best things here.

Toadstool Café, try this one for dinner, or even if you just grab a snack. It’s pretty cool inside. Keep an eye on the Toad animations in the windows. They are hilarious, and they don’t just run on a short, repetitive loop. I won’t spoil any surprises, but just keep an eye on these windows for some special things that may happen during your visit.

And if Toadstool Cafe is your thing, try the French-inspired cafe in Wizarding World. I can’t pronounce the name, so that’s why I’m just saying the cafe in Wizarding World - you can’t miss it.

6. Final Hour: Re-Ride and Explore

The last hour of park operation is prime time for low waits and photo ops.

Watch the nighttime fountain/fireworks show in Celestial Park. Position yourself so that the Helios Grand Hotel is in the background. You’ll get some great photos and video.

Dark Universe is especially worth seeing at night. Be sure to catch the Burning Blade Tavern erupt into flames. It happens every 15 minutes. I don’t know why it’s so cool to watch a windmill burst into flames, but it is. And you shouldn’t miss it.

Or grab a re-ride on your favorite, just keep in mind that most of the park-goers will head to Stardust Racers during this time.

Epic Universe Touring Summary

  • 10:00 am Celestial Park: Stardust Racers

  • 10:30 am Isle of Berk: Wing Gliders, Fyre Drill, Dragon Racer Rally

  • 12:30 pm Dark Universe: Monsters Unchained, Werewolf, lunch

  • 2:30 pm Wizarding World: Battle at the Ministry, Interactive Wand Play

  • 5:00 pm Super Nintendo World: Mario Kart, Donkey Kong: Mine Cart Madness, Yoshi’s Adventure, Power-up Band interactive play. Shadow Showdown, dinner (Possibly Toadstool Cafe)

  • After 8:00 pm, walk-throughs of Celestial Park, Dark Universe, and re-ride a favorite (possibly Stardust Racers).

Final Thoughts and a Few Tips

This strategy works counterintuitively and against all those who have the EPA advantage. You will see everything you want to see, and save time in line.

The most important consideration here is that the park closes early, at 9 pm, which is right after sunset in the summer. This is a shame because Epic Universe has the best lighting package of any theme park I have ever experienced. If you get a survey about your park visit, tell them you want it opened later.

You also need to stay flexible - afternoon thunderstorms pretty much shut the park down. 90% of the attractions will not run if storms are in the area. So just find a dry place to sit and relax, and wait for it to pass. Storms are usually gone in less than an hour.

Keep in mind that some attraction queues may close earlier than 9 pm. This is so they don’t have a 2-hour wait when they are trying to close the park.

Unfortunately, some of the attractions and shows in Epic Universe experience a lot of downtime. Harry Potter: Battle at the Ministry is the worst. It goes down several times a day. The best advice I can give is to keep checking the app for status updates. Just pack your patience on this one.
